caring - If you're friends with grace, you're a child to her. even though she's young, she takes care of her friends like a mother would. she doesn't say it's true, but it is. grace didn't have a lot friends growing up, and when she found close ones as a trainee, she was thrilled. she'll pack food for you, pay for the check, give you a bear hug, act proud when you do something good, nag you, etc. she won't clean your house because she herself is a pretty messy person.

funny/savage - This is one of the more common ways grace shows her affection. she teases you. a lot. she calls it teasing because all the savage things she says hold no meaning or feeling behind it. she'll point to a trash can and say, "Hey look, I found your twin." she'll catch your eye from afar and make a cute heart shape with her hands before breaking it by separate her hands. she'll give you a comically surprised look when you get a text/call and say, "you have friends?" basically, her actions say motherly, but her words are those of a joking friend.

takes things too far - grace hopes that people don't take her teasing seriously. there are times where she thinks she's close to someone, and then tease them, and they get offended. sometimes her teasing can be annoying, and be really mean, but she's not trying to be mean. it's her way of showing affection since she's bad with mushy feelings. grace hates it when this happens because then people don't like her jokes, and all her jokes are just teasing.

hardworking - when grace is really motivated, she is a complete monster. she'll stop at nothing to achieve her goal. the things that motivate her are family, her friends, and tests in classes she has to take for jyp. If she's at risk of failing an exam or falling behind, she won't sleep and practice constantly. she'll drown in coffee to be alert and ready. like i stated before, Grace takes things too far, and she does that a lot when she's motivated.

optimistic/energetic - thinking about good things often gets her motivated, so she had a lot of energy because she sees good in practically all situations. she doesn't see the point in whining, so she just makes the best of the situation. she also likes to see people smile, so she'll be super smiley and energetic to lift of the mood.

untrusting - grace has quite a few trust issues, even with her friends. some think she might be babying her friends, but it's also partially because she doesn't trust them. she'll never say that, but there's that feeling of she has to do everything herself. there's a reason for this in her background. but this might effect the team because she always wants to do it by herself. for example, if she has a certain choreo wrong, and one of her teammates tells her, she won't believe that person until the teacher confirms it's true.

forgetful - this is terrible for grace. lyrics are hardest for her to remember. she needs to constantly practice to memorize the song. although, dance is easiest for her to remember. she has to practice almost twice as much as the next person because she'll forget it otherwise. she's also terrible with names. when she first came to korea, she had a hard time remembering korean names. she often misplaces things as well.

tomboyish/competitive - like I said, she takes things too far. in this case, it's slightly amusing. in a competition, she'll insult/tease the other player/team, which heats up the atmosphere, even if it's a small, stupid game. she's not afraid of getting messy or (slightly) violent. she doesn't like to wear skirts or shorts a lot, or any clothing that exposes her legs. this is explained in the paragraph about her trainee years

misunderstood flirt - A lot of people think grace is flirting with them when she pets their head or gets touchy with them, but she just naturally likes skinship. In fact, she doesn't know what to do if she wanted to flirt because she's inexperienced. people think she's a player, but she just likes to baby people and touch them. She's always linking arms with you, or hugging you.

background. 

grace eunhae kim was born on May 3, 2000 to kim jinu (dad) and moon soohyun (mom). her dad was a travel agent and her mother was an accountant. They had a medium-sized house in a quiet and small neighborhood. she didn't see a whole lot of her dad because he was constantly traveling, but they still had a good relationship. They weren't very close, but he was very funny and comforting. she is much closer to her mother. ser mother is stricter, and more worrisome than her dad, but grace mostly followed every rule set by her mom, so they did not fight much... before grace hit puberty.

As a child, grace had long, silky hair, down to her mid-back. She got lots of compliments about her hair, which made her really happy. her brother (who was born later) was a shy, mellow person. he didn't talk much to other people, but around his family and people he fully trusted, he was a complete chatterbox. it was very bizarre for grace when she saw her brother hang out with some of his classmates, and he barely talked. he was like a different person. we'll get to him later.

When grace went to primary school, she could not speak a word of english. she constantly spoke korean at home, and so she was not exposed to english until now. she, along with a few other minority-grouped children, took special language classes. the teacher had a very thick austrailian accent, and she had a great influence on grace. she was always patient and kind and wise. grace idolized her. (it wasn't until after middle school that Grace heard she died of alcohol poisoning.) as grace learned more english from her teacher, she started to have an austrailian accent. currently, it's only hearable in a few words, like clothes and coffee. her parents also spoke more english at home to help her learn quicker. her dad was fluent, but her mom had some trouble.

When grace was 4, her mom gave birth to a son. his name is simon kihun kim. he was annoying as a child. he'd cry when he was punished, and he'd blame grace for the smallest things. it wasn't until grace was 6 that she admitted to him that she loved him. simon had learned his basic manners by then, and he was becoming a cute little brother to her.

when she was in middle school, simon was still a high-maintenance brat, but he and grace had a close relationship because they could be brats together. her dad got a free round-trip to california from his work. this was exciting because this was grace's and simon's first trip out of the state. they packed and planned to stay two weeks. grace had researched what they could do in california, and there was a jyp audition going on. grace had taken singing lessons, and she enjoyed mimicing kpop idol dances. she thought it would be a good experience, so she asked if she could do it. there was a fee, and so they told her that if she practiced from now to the day of the audition (about a month), then they would pay the fee. grace said sure and practiced for two hours every other day. when they went to californa, she auditioned as a singer. she didn't rap, and she had fun. the judges were scary, but she didn't care since she didn't really care about winning.

it was on their tenth day of vacation. simon disappeared. they called looked everywhere. eventually, they called the police. the police couldn't find him. simon was missing for 21 hours. when the police found him, he was put in a hospital right away. simon was whipped by a belt of one of the kidnappers. they were traffickers, and one of their regular clients wanted a young boy. they went home after ten days, and simon was all healed. at least physically. when they got home, simon was quiet. he wouldn't tell anyone the details of what happened to him, not even the police. he went to a therapist, but he was only silent. he didn't speak at all. only small things like "thank you" and "sorry." he never asked for anything or speak of his needs. two weeks later, the doctor said he wasn't sure if simon lost his voice or if he just chose not to speak. he thinks it's a bit of both since simon doesn't seem to want to speak. he suggested talking a lot and making happy memories together. grace's parents tried their best. they were constantly smiling and laughing, and grace joined in. it seemed fake. there were a few times when grace genuinely laughed, but simon didn't talk or laugh. he'd gesture to things, or write down a quiet, but he was mostly silent and stoic. But she faked it until she made it. she became a cheery, happy, and smiley person. she gained more friends because of it, but her greatest accomplishment was making simon laugh again.

when grace started 7th grade, she was excited. 6th grade was a disaster, and she wanted this to change. she planned on being popular and smart, and she wanted a boyfriend. She didn't achieve any of those. School was still a mess, and her tests always came back with B's and C's. Her classmates and friends make racist jokes, and no boy wanted to date a "rice cracker." her classmates didn't mean any harm. they just wanted fun. she laughed along with them because she wanted to be their friend. this is where she gained her trust isues. her parents were disappointed in her grades, but they encouraged her to try harder. it was a little pressuring because they kept insisting that she studied and kept warning her about college.

not even two months into 7th grade, she got an email from jyp entertainment. they wanted her to come back to california so she can audition for a 2nd round. she emailed back explaining that she lived in oregon. she expected them to drop it, but they emailed back saying that if she sent in videos of her singing, rapping, and dancing for one minute by the next three months, then she could be included in the 2nd round. she asked her parents, and they were hesitant. they said okay because they wanted her to try, which is something they always encouraged their kids, but they didn't know what to do after the round. they still let her because they didn't think she'd make it. seeing that her grades weren't up to standards, grace focused on practicing her singing, rapping, and dancing. her rapping was crap, so she focused mostly on her singing and dancing. while she practiced in her room, simon would come in and watch. he sometimes fell asleep on her bed while she practiced into the late night.

when she sent in her videos, she got an email 2 weeks later. it said that they wanted to skype so they can see her sing, dance, and rap live. she skyped them, and a week later, another email came. it that a scout would come to oregon to see her in person at her convenience. she told her parents, and they were shocked. the scout looked at grace sing, dance, and rap in person again, and he said that that they accept her, and he brought a copy of a contract with him. it was a basic contract in which they would accept her, train her, let her live in the dorm, and so on. the contract didn't pay for them to move to korea. then the scout left for korea. Her parents thought about it for a long time and decided that she couldn't go.

grace never had a dream before this. while practicing every day, she became more and more determined. she dreamed of being on stage and looking over a huge crowd that cheered for her. she got goosebumps, thinking about it. when she tried to convince her parents to let her go to korea, they said no. there was a huge fight, and she stormed to her room, crying. the next day, after school, grace's parents sat her down at the table and soberly said they would let her go. they said that simon talked to them. he told them last night that this became her dream, and she worked hard for this. Grace was completely shocked. Her parents proceeded to write down rules about her living in Korea, but she couldn't hear because she couldn't believe that Simon talked for her. He barely said a full sentence for 5 months. after the talk, she went to simon's room and hugged him tightly. she cried and said thank you. he only silently patted her back.

two months later, she went out to korea and moved into her aunt's apartment. she tried online schooling for a bit, but dropped out when she didn't have enough time.

everyone knew they were going to be friends. it was just a matter of time. when they finally met, it was about 5 months into her trainee period. they instantly hit it off. grace knew she found one of the best friends has ever made. they constantly joke around, and they tell each other everything.

elaboration. grace was excited, at first. she knew it would be tough, but she didn't know it would be this tough. she doesn't have natural talent for dancing, and especially not rapping. she is also forgetful so learning lyrics and dances were very hard. her weight was also an issue. she was young when she first started out, so they couldn't really say anything about her diet. after about three years, they started controlling her diet. in her first weigh-in, she was 55kgs, which is right for her height. they expected her to be 45kgs, or at least 50kg. she stopped eating 3 meals and ate 1. she didn't add any exercising because her practice was her exercise. she did it constantly. others might practice for 4 hours, but she needs to practice for at least 6. she tried to ask other trainees if they wanted to practice together, but she put a stop to that real quick. they would improve much quicker than her, and she was just burdening them. singing and dancing weren't that bad for her. she did have to practice, but she improved at the same rate, sometimes faster, as the others. she focused a lot on her rapping, and the korean language is very easy to rap. so she quickly advanced in that.

during the beginning of her trainee years, she hired a private dance teacher because she was having a bad time. she asked for money from her parents, who gladly paid for it. they were happy she was finally pursuing a dream. she called him mr. park, and he was a former choreographer at yg. he said he won many awards and taught many famous idols. he also choreographed almost all of big bang's early dances. grace never questioned why he stopped working there. he taught rather strangely. at first, it was basic moves, like body rolling and simple moves. then he suddenly jumped to spanish dances like the tango and salsa. he said it would be a good experience. it was a month into their lessons, and then he suddenly jumped to the dance of troublemaker. he said that it was because troublemaker is so popular (2013 at the time). it was hard. on the second day of practicing it, mr. park said he would play hyunseung's part. she has been the most uncomfortable she has ever been. before, he wouldn't touch her and just show her and dance her part with her. now, his hands were all over her. After a few minutes, she said she was uncomfortable. he got angry at her and yelled at her for being stupid because she'll have to dance like this when she's an idol. she reluctantly and uncomfortably went with it, and they danced. they practiced the dance for a month, even the parts she perfected. he danced closer to her and his hands wandered more. every time, she wanted to puke. she was 14 at the time, and she had never been ually harassed. one day, he said that this would be the last time they never danced this because she perfected it, and she was relieved. then, during one part, he changed a the part and kissed her. he shoved his hand down her sweatpants and pressed his body onto her's. she thrashed and cried and finally kick him in the crotch, making him fall. she ran away to her apartment and cried in her bedroom. when she went to take a shower, she realized her were ripped. she called the police after the shower, but the dance studio was empty. they could've investigated further, but because ual harassment, ual assault, and aren't a big deal in korea, they didn't. later, she did some investigating and found that his name must have been fake because there was no record of him at yg. after that, she refused to ask for help in dancing or dance with only one other person. she'll only dance in groups or alone. she was very weary of being alone or near older men afterwards. she cut her long hair and wore baggy clothing to hid her body. she avoided being alone with any dance teacher, making a barrier between them and her. without a private teacher, she practiced like crazy on her own. a year after this, she was diagnosed with stress-induced insomnia. she didn't tell her parents anything about her insomnia or the teacher incident. ever since then, she treated her brother much more nicely. she didn't know what he went through when he was kidnapped back in california, and judging by the belt marks, it was probably worse.

after this, she just worked hard, and she usually slept 3 to 4 hours a day. on sundays, she usually caught up on her sleep and slept 6 hours.

— they meant when she first went to jyp. she was glad to see another english-speaker, but they didn't interact much. she had to focus on her practice and spent less time with friends. she did interact with brian a lot because she would ask for help with her rapping. she developed a crush on brian, and it still hasn't gone away. she talked to jae on many occasions, but it was mostly with a group, not alone. she talked to jae alone for the first time during their filming of "i loved you." it took a bit to get teh ball rolling, but they just clicked. they had a pretty great conversation about memes and vines. they exchanged numbers after the filming.
