Fic Meme 2018

Total stories published: 76 (2 drafted) fics, + 3 contests.

Total Word Count:
45,775

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?

I wrote way less than I would have liked, but I hope THIS year will be better.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?

Seventeen Hoshi + Woozi, in The Thin Veil. I highly enjoyed writing the gift. It turned out being one of my favorite one shots to write in 2017.

What's your own favorite story of the year?

The Game, which definitely pushed limits and was a challenge for me.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Not really, but holding and completing two contests was definitely risky, but it was worth it!

Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the new year?

To finish my neglected stories, and hopefully finish ALL of my stories this year;).

From my past year of writing what was...

My best story of this year: I don't know about BEST, but favorite to write:
The Game, being MyungJong AND Survivor based♡.

My most popular story of this year:
Fallen Kingdom.

The story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:

Poison. Since it didn't have pairing, and was mixed band, it didn't help any that those groups were EXO and VIXX.

The most fun story to write:
The Game. I enjoyed eleminating the characters and writing the challenges, as well as the ever-evolvong alliances;).

The story with the single iest moment:
The Blackout

Walking out of the kitchen, he felt his heart skip a beat when he noticed that Woohyun was already up, looking confused. "What happened? Why was I sleeping in the middle of the day?"

Gunwoo shook his head, walking over to him with a smile. "There's a lot to explain, and someone you should meet before we go home," he took the younger man's hand, looking into his eyes with a serious expression. "Speaking of going home, will you? I mean, come back home...to me?" He felt tears stinging his eyes, this time from desperation. "I need you," he whispered, hugging him suddenly, never wanting to let go.

Woohyun his hair gently, confused, but not ready to let go. Ever again. "Yes, I will."

"Good," Gunwoo pulled away, just to be pushed down onto the bed and Woohyun kissed him deeply. He felt as if he was already home, and everything was back to being perfect in his life again. He pulled back briefly, just long enough to utter the words that had been on the tip of his tongue for the last few months. "I love you, Woohyun."

The most "holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:
The Game, hands down. I wrote some horrible things in that story. I still feel guilty for some of them, but not ALL lol.

The story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
Warriors Against the Darkness, because of the events that unfolded.

The hardest story to write:
The Game. It took a lot of thought and planning and re-arranging.

The biggest disappointment:
I didn't really have any disappointments, honestly.

The biggest surprise:
That I HIGHLY enjoyed writing Hoshi + Woozi. The pairing, along with the story was a blast to write.

The most unintentionally telling story:
Probably: Poison.

Favorite Opening Line(s)

Power From Within:
Sitting in the large window seat of her bedroom, Hyuna watched the glistening snow fall onto the city streets and sidewalks, creating a cold layer of happiness for the children to play in and adding a fresh, crispness to the air. Smiling, the young woman glanced down at her hands. That was what she enjoyed the most. It was cold, and yet, she was right in her element.

Favorite Closing Line(s):
Broken Butterflies:

JR didn't say a word as he held Aron, rocking as he broke into more pieces. Throwing all of his longing for Aron away, he knew that this was when he needed him and that he was in the right place. He loved Aron, and this was the best way to show it. Maybe someday things would be different between them, but it didn't matter right now. All that mattered was being with him now. They would both heal from this together and the broken butterflies would finally settle and land somewhere safe, healed from the pain and loss.

Favorite 5 Lines from Anywhere:

1. The man laughed, his voice rough. "You're still kind of stupid. They aren't all dead, and if I wasn't here, they would be attacking you right now. I need to care for your friend...or he'll die within an hour," he glanced toward the house before turning back to Myungsoo. "Will they let me in? I'm his only chance at surviving this."
The Blackout

2. Aron shook his head, still staring at the wall. "I know you act like everything's fine, but honestly, Jonghyun..." Aron's voice cracked, and JR could hear the pain in it as he continued. "Where the hell were you? As he was getting worse and worse, and I knew I was losing him, you weren't there. Would it have killed you to show up for more than a few days at a time?"
Broken Butterflies

3. "Stay with me, okay? Don't you dare die on us, Jungkook." He saw Jimin pressing his own shirt against the gaping hole in the tall maknae's chest, trying to stop the bleeding. Yoongi could feel his young friend shaking, going into shock. If he went into shock fully, he could die. With tears streaming down his face, Yoongi watched helplessly as his friend struggled to stay alive.
Warriors Against the Darkness

4. The electronic counter finally stopped moving, and they were all silent, including Mr. Henney. Sungjong stared at it blankly, knowing there must have been a mistake. He was numb as Myungjong hugged them both, and he wanted to hang onto him and never let go. He had tears in his eyes as Myungsoo walked over and his torch was snuffed out. Sungjong didn't move as his best friend faded out of existence and out of his life forever.
The Game

5.
Walking cautiously over the cold white tile, Hanse's face hardened as he got to the black staircase, his face twisting in genuine fear. It was there, sitting on the steps, its dark grey fur. He had to admit that it was pretty, and he would like it, if it didn't strike fear in him every time he saw it. He leaned down, staring at it as if it was the most horrible creature on earth. To him, it just might be, right up there with poisonous spiders. "I ing hate you, you horrid bastard!"
The Purrrfect Reason to Stay Away

Top 5 Scenes from Anywhere You Would Choose to Have Illustrated:

1. While Insoo was focused on the others, Sungjong peered out the window, noticing that the buzzing had stopped. His eyes widened as he noticed why. Instead of wasps, there were now red and black creatures about the size of house cats, walking around outside the house, their eyes shining in the sunlight. One of them looked straight at him, its eyes silver and gleaming, sending chills down his spine. It opened its mouth, showing razor-sharp fangs, its lips as it stared at him. "Guys, these aren't wasps anymore. They're..." Sungjong shook his head, unsure whether he should be afraid or fascinated. They had simply transformed! "I don't know. They're something else."
The Blackout

2. However, none came. Instead, she heard the voice telling her to move to the back of the shed. Unsure of why, but still determined to not lose to her captors, she did as she was told, scooting to the back and sitting down. She waited for what seemed to be forever, then screamed as she saw a metal hand reached into the small opening, turning the distinctly male hand downward and touching the fingers to the cold metal. As she watched, Hyuna saw the metal hand begin to solidify into a human one, the metal becoming a bubbling liquid as it began to absorb into the hand. She watched in wonder as he tore a hole large enough for her to fit out of. Hyuna was unsure if this was another dream, but she didn't really care, because either way, she would be free, whether it was forever or only a second. Crawling out through the tear in the metal, she looked up, only to be picked up by her rescuer before she saw his face. She felt safe and at peace for the first time in days, and the feeling that everything would be alright flooded her entire body, allowing herself to fall asleep again, giving into the exhausted state her body was in.
Power From Within

3. The next morning, they were awoken by a raging storm outside, with thunder cracking and rain pouring down. Yoongi felt a shiver run down his spine, walking over to Jin, who was looking out the window. In the raging storm, he could see the same darkness they had seen before, but this time, it was blocked by an invisible force field. The Void was angry, but couldn't make it all the way through to Earth, so was wreaking havok through nature, in any way possible.
Warriors Against the Darkness

4. The young sorcerer was beginning to have doubts, when he saw Soonyoung eyeing something close to the ceiling. He was confused, since he didn't see anything, but Soonyoung reached up higher, his eyes fixated on the purplish, glowing stone in a crevice. The young man touched the stone, feeling a sense of power wash over his entire body, and causing a tingle to run down his spine. Determined to get it out, Soonyoung was prepared to tug and dig his way to it. However, the obsidian around the sapphire unwrapped on its own, releasing it to him. Soonyoung smiled as he brought it down to inspect it, amazed at what had just happened.
The Thin Veil

5. The terrible bastard was walking through the crowd, and innocent people were scattering as he walked, terrified of being touched by him. All but one person, and Jaehwan's heart caught in his throat. Kyungsoo was standing behind the Emperor, and as the bastard turned to face him, Kyungsoo shot fire at him, hitting him in the face. This action wasn't enough to kill him, but it got his attention, as his hands flew to his face. Jaehwan took that chance to ever so slightly touch the Emperor on the arm, then stepped back. The burns were still on his face as his entire body began to shimmer like diamonds, the sun hitting it and making it shine brightly.

"You really can..." the evil man began, his body shaking now as the shimmering took over, eating into his skin slowly and painfully.

Jaehwan smiled, watching as his enemy and country's terrorizer began to break apart slowly, his body turning to valuable diamonds.
Poison
