You can't help me, but maybe I can help you.
She had purposely put on an extremely dramatic exit as he had directed her to, the threads of fire wrapping around her like a cocoon, just to let the man see her power, see how powerful she really was.
How powerful they really were.
Suhyo sighed. It's funny how she got herself into this mess, because as far as she remembered, her life was pretty normal.
Or at least, as normal as a girl with destructive fire powers could live under the protection of her older brother, a certain young man named Lee Seungwoo.
A familiar ring of a tone broke the temporary silence, and she roused herself from her stupor, frowning as she dug out her phone, and even more so when she saw the unfamiliar caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Suhyo," A very familiar voice purred through the phone, and she gave an exasperated huff. "I knew you would pick up."
"What do you want?" She snapped, realising all-too-late that it was, in fact, raining - no, pouring - and started running towards the direction of her car, regretting immediately the heeled boots she decided to wear just for the sake of intimidation, as the heels sunk in the mud created by the rain with nearly each step.
Even though she technically could've transported herself and the car - bless her brother's car - using her powers, it would take her a hell lot of power, a hell lot of power which she didn't really want to waste, and frankly she didn't want to collapse at home either.
Besides, it would do her good to be stuck in traffic for a small period of time. Just so, you know, to relax and organise her thoughts.
"How rude," the person on the other side of the line said, fake hurt evident in his tone. "And here I thought you might cheer and ask in admiration, 'How did you get yourself a phone, Jineul?' or 'You're so clever, oppa!' "
"First of all," She wedged the device between her ear and shoulder as she slammed the car door shut behind her, then let a small ball of fire flicker into life on her palm, and held it in mid-air, using the heat emitted to dry her drenched clothes. "You're Jihun. Don't think you can decieve us, . And second, I don't even call my brother 'oppa', so you can get rid of that idea. If you want someone to call you that, ring Jinheo up. She'll squeal like a plushie and coo over you like a second mother.'
A snort. "Fine." Jihun stopped purring and spoke seriously, a certain hush falling over his words that indicated them talking about their plans and not fooling around. "Well?"
"I've done it." She put the phone on speakerphone, and tapped the ball lightly with a finger, extinguishing it and at the same time starting up her car. "You'll probably get out of that hole soon. Hopefully."
"Excellent." There was rustling on the other end. "How did you find him? That psychiatrist." There was a barely concealed note of contempt in that word, yet Suhyo also noticed, something akin to excitement.
Slamming her foot on the accelerator, her car rushed off on the road, heading towards the distant buildings whose tops were obscured by the gray clouds that hung especially low today. "He's okay, I guess. A bit delicate, and frankly, dumb. Doesn't look like the sort that would get himself in trouble," She replied doubtfully, swerving to a left fork so hard the tires screeched. "Why did you choose him?"
"For the exact same reason you mentioned just now," Jihun said. There was the sound of something heavy clattering to the ground, and he swore, a loud curse bouncing off in her car, and she winced slightly.
"Jihun?"
"I'm fine, I'm fine," His voice came back on, and he replied absent-mindedly. "Anyways, yes. Jineul decided that it would be fun to control him using invisible strings, so as to say, dancing around - "
" - like a puppet or a doll," Suhyo finished. "Come to think of it, he looks like one too."
A chuckle. "Indeed. Jineul has a rather strange affinity with pretty things. Especially boys. His taste is good. Anyways, where was I? Oh yes. And so, I decided to add in a bit of my own charm as well. It was fun to manipulate him, you know. That Sungjong is just so determined to get me patched up. It's actually pretty touching."
"Goood for you." She entered the highway, and slowed down a little to make the ride smoother. "When - "
A loud crash. Jihun swearing even more, and suddenly it was Jineul speaking. "I have to go now, Hyo. They're coming for me again. ing ."
"Wait - "
"Oh, and tell Seungwoo that it's nearly time."
"For what?"
"He'll know - " The line promptly went dead, and she sighed. might as well make the most of the call, especially when Jineul - or Jitae or Jihun or whoever - rarely could steal a phone. To be able to maintain such a long conversation was a miracle in itself.
"Time for war," She murmured, and as the car zoomed through the twilight once more, the reflection of her eyes on the rearview window flashed a deep red, the colour of blood, and it was gone once more.
