this is vital in preventing more idols' prolonged suffering--the lives they lead are rarely fulfilled or happy ones. mental health is not taken seriously in korea, and especially in the k-pop industry, where idols are meant to be perfect, when they are not--because people aren't perfect. and when they try to embrace these imperfections, more often than not, they are shut down.

it is imperitive that we help serve as a catalyst to changing the industry and how it treats mental health. maybe nothing immediate will come of it, but opening the conversation does far more than many people realize.

jonghyun knew this, and it is why he stood for it. and it is why we should all stand for it, too, not only in his memory, but to further the work he is unable to now do
