Jonghyun (Shinee)
I know many people have written something already but that doesn't make it less important.
Yesterday, 18th of december 2017, we lost a wonderful singer with a big heart: Kim Jong Hyun.
There are no words that can express how heartbroken and devastated I feel. He was my age, just a few months younger. It just feels unreal, like a bad dream.
I am so, so sad. As someone who is battling depression myself - though in no way as bad as he must have - I know that it sometimes feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Depression lies. It tells you that, but it's not true. It is NEVER true. There is always hope.
If there only had been a way for him to see that. If there only had been someone who could have given him the help he needed... but there wasn't.
He saw no other way out and even was told that it was his own fault. THAT IS A LIE.
Please, don't let his death be in vain. If you suffer from depression or know someone who does, get help. That is NEVER a shame or a sign of weakness.
Your life matters, no matter what. Mental sickness is NOT a joke. It is as serious as any other sickness and it can end deadly. I think we have seen that too many times to make jokes about it anymore. If someone does, do NOT listen. They don't know what they are talking about or they wouldn't say something like that.
Underneath I posted some suicide prevention hotlines. Even if you are "just" battling depression or any other (mental) struggle, you can call them for anything.
