《ℰẋøȵƴmƴ》 : 김아연
character name : kim a-yeon
nicknaME(s) : bambi (밤비) - due to her large eyes and petite frame, most everyone, family and friends, call her this.
ahngoo (안구) - it's a siblings nickname, often used by her older brother. (jingoo, taengoo, ahngoo)
birthdate & age : 03.10.1995 & 22 as of 01/01/2018

ethnicity : korean
languages : korean - fluent ; japanese - basic
occupation : journalist

faceclaim :  park hwan hui (gallery)
Backup : wjsn's bona (gallery)

height and weight : 153cm & 52kg
appearance : Ayeon usually keeps her hair in a loosely curled fashion, leaning towards darker hair colors (brown and black). she also has a bit of misshapen upper lip due to  scar she got when she was a teenager in a car accident. she usually covers it up with makeup so it's not as visable. she's a bit curvier than other korean women her height as well.
stylE : a staple of ayeon's fashion is her hair always, always being out of her face, usually by a headband or by her hair being pulled back. ayeon has two very different styles: at work or work from home. at work is filled with modest blouses, skirts and nicely fitted high waisted pants, dresses of varying patterns and colors, kitten heels, nice accessories, etc. however, whenever ayeon is at home/not going anywhere, she's very much for wearing a shirt so big that she doesn't need pants (which is easy for her considering her height), colorful and cozy socks (probably mismatched), her glasses and usually a pen or pencil  in her hair.
"some stars generate their own light"
personality traits :
( + ) : enthusastic, meticulious, personable, adventurous
( - ) : emotional, nosy, impractical, easily infatuated
( / ) : spontaneous, observant, blunt,  independent

personality in depth : ayeon's personality could be a person in itself, so it can be hard for more quiet of introverted people to be around her. ayeon is easy to please, and can find something exciting about almost everything in the world. she's eager for new things, and approaches any new challenge or situation with curiousity and open-ness. part of what makes ayeon so good at her job despite her tendency to procrastinate on deadlines is her meticulious nature. she makes sure she's covered every last detail, every t crossed and i dotted. everything ayeon is apart of is thorough and completed to its fullest, making her a valuable team member and ally. it isn't ocd or anything of that nature either -- ayeon just likes being more detail oritented than most and can catch any tiny mistake or off thing about something or someone. ayeon is likeable, simply put. she's the type that draws people in and makes them want to talk to her, approach her, and therefore she has many aquaintences and friends scattered everywhere. she's always prepared and can often be saying "oh, i have a friend who can help." when everyone else is at a loss. ayeon has a love for adventure and taking risks, and doesn't mind diving into the unknown. she wants to learn everything she can, and in her opinion, the only way to do that is to keep doing and experiencing new and at times, dangerous things.

for a tiny woman, she has a lot of emotion and feels very deeply. she wears her heart on her sleeve, so to speak, but it more often is a disadvantage than a good thing. she can easily be taken advantage of or manipulated into feeling a certain way if someone knew their way around words. it also bleeds into her work, thankfully with her attention to detail, she can edit it out after arguing with herself for an hour about why she should/n't keep it in. ayeon asks a lot of questions, and honestly, usually it's outside of her job. she's naturally curious, but she feels like she should always be in the know and hates thinking that there's something being kept from her. she tends to pester and poke until they either give her what she wants to hear or when they go off at her. (people give her the latter on the regular).something that's always bugged pretty much everyone who's met her: ayeon's quite an impractical thinker. she's smart, she's a hardworker and a good people person -- but her ideas and some of her actions... aren't very sensible. she tends to be a fantastical planner, coming up with things and sometimes putting them into action when really, they aren't appropiate for the situation at all. another thing about ayeon -- she 'falls in love' very easily, meaning she's quick to jump into relationships without much of a second thought. pair this with her deep emotions and you end up with a lot of heartache. it never stops her though, always thinking 'this one will be different!'. ayeon listens to her heart more than her head, despite that she hears out both sides.

spontaneity should be ayeon's middle name. she's adventurous and nosy, so she tends to be in the middle of the action rather than at the sidelines. she hardly thinks twice about a decision she makes, and rarely regrets it. it makes for her to seem very brave, when in her opinion, she's just experiencing life. while it gives her a lot more opportunities than most, ayeon can sometimes jump headfirst into things that aren't so good and can end up getting hurt, physically and emotionally. she takes the "wrong place at the wrong time" saying to a whole level, because she meant to be there -- just not in the position she's usually found in. she'll never say she regrets it, though. with her attention to detail, she's quite observant towards people and their actions. she's the first to see if something is different and this triggers her nosy trait to go pester to find out what's wrong. it helps with her friends, but when she goes up to a co-worker that she doesn't even know the name of and starts bothering them about why they're suddenly buying their coffee instead of getting it from the break room, it gets a little weird. the way she approaches anything is subtle -- it's head on and straight to the point. she's never been a fan of those who beat around the bush, it's just jargon that wastes air and time. say what you mean, and say it simply. it can be a good thing, especially at her job and when you're looking for honesty, however, ayeon could work on saying certain subjects more... delicately instead of just saying "you know, it was kind of your fault the relationship ended, i mean you did --" see where i'm going with this?ayeon also doesn't need to be with anyone to get into trouble or to help her out -- she can do it all by herself. in otherwords, she hates depending on others. she'd rather it be the other way around, but she usually just ends up overworking herself or getting into worse trouble that she meant to end up in. it makes for a funny story, but not many companies want to hire someone with a bit of a streak and record

family :
kim taeyeon | older sister | 28 | elementary school math teacher | taeyeon is a great big sister to her little sister despite their 6 year . she always encouraged ayeon to go and follow her dreams, and has a scrapbook of all of ayeon's articles from when the younger started at her school paper until she got to her current job. ayeon loves and admires her older sister more than anything in the world, often calling and texting her daily to check in. they frequently have dinner and get coffee together, as well as just hanging out. ayeon will even help taeyeon grade homework and tests for her classes if they're just too busy to do anything else, and taeyeon will re-read ayeon's articles and leave comments on sentence structure and various other elements that ayeon could look at. always, always, they'll make time for each other, or at the very least meet up every saturaday night to listne to their brother's radio show together.

kim jiwoong | older brother | 29 | radio show host | while it was a little awkward for jiwoong and ayeon to get along, he coined her nickname 'bambi' when she was a toddler, saying that she had the biggest eyes out of all of the kim siblings and was also the smallest. bambi was also his favorite movie at the time, so no one could deny that jiwoong definitely had a soft spot for his youngest sister despite him being so much older. once ayeon got into high school, he made a point to pick her up from school, to show her what he did, just to ensure that when she went off to college and moved out that she wouldn't feel like she could only depend on her older sister for support. while he's usually busy writing his show and going back to school for his masters degree, he tries to make time for her and taeyeon. ayeon always mentions that she'd want a husband like him, despite him constantly pointing out that the boys she usually goes out with are nothing like him at all.

kim jong-gu | father | 56 | dean of admissions at snu | her father is very busy withhis job and interacting with many students, but he tried to be there for his children growing up. after his wife was placed into a mental ward, however, he more or less threw himself into his work and ignored anything that didn't involve his wife's recovery or his work. since ayeon was still in school, this is why jiwoong and taeyeon became just important people in ayeon's life. ayeon does call occasionally to check in, but he hardly ever reaches out unless it's after a visit from the mental ward.

background : in 1995, the last member of the kim household, with a large between the first two children and ayeon. despite this, the family seemed to get along perfectly. taeyeon and jiwoong were great older siblings, even though taeyeon was more involved than jiwoong was. ayeon grew up a happy but curious child, something that her mother would always, always encourage and tell her to keep asking questions about the world and how she could change it.

of course, nothing was happy or normal forever. when ayeon was 13, she had called home for someone to pick her up from school --- she had been studying late for exams coming up and was scared to take the subway for some reason. her father was still at work, and both siblings were also studying at school, so their mother came to pick all of them up. right before jiwoong was picked up, a car in the right turn lane ran the red light, crashing right into the car that taeyeon, ayeon, and their mother were in. taeyeon and ayeon both had busted lips that scarred over, and taeyeon's jaw had to be realinged. ayeon also needed stitches in her forehead and her arm was broken. their mother did not pass away, but was comatose for a year before regaining conciousness, only to not remember anything.

"severe retrograde amnesia" the doctor had told them, and with their mother not knowing anything or remembering them, was placed in a hospital care ward where she'd recover motor, mental, and various other life skills. it's very possible that she will remember, she remembers her sister telling her, but it still has not happened. ayeon doesn't visit personally but does check up through her father. she feels guilty about the car accident -- if she had just taken the subway, her mother wouldn't be like this. it's something she's never truly been able to deal with and keeps to herself. she's still afraid of riding in cars, but it's lessened since jiwoong started to ease her back into them in high school.

when she entered college, ayeon began dating -- only to have the range from a few weeks to just shy of 100 days. it's always been a hit or miss with the break up, too. sometimes she ends it due to realizing he's not for her, sometimes he'll break up with her, some are mutual -- but she couldn't count the amount of relationships she's had on her hands. ayeon's not too sure about finding the "perfect one", because perfection doesn't exist, this she's all too aware of -- but if she could at least find someone that could convince her to commit and would commit to her, she'd be happy.

friends :
Ryu young-ae | roommate | 23 | executive assistant | young-ae and ayeon have been friends since college, being paired up as roommates and continued to live together after college. young-ae has a crazy schedule, working as the executive assistant to the editor of the top fashion magazines in south korea, but she only complains when the work runs into her sleep time. outside of work, young-ae is a valuable friend for ayeon. young-ae is a great cook and so the agreement has always been: young-ae will cook, and ayeon will clean. they're both quite happy with this arrangement and hardly ever argue over housework. young-ae is constantly trying to set ayeon on dates with "good guys" from her work, but they never turn out to last very long, even if they were good people. young-ae loves matchmaking though, and once ayeon's over the last fling, she's got another one lined up for her within a few weeks.

park myunghwa | co-worker | 25 | journalist | myunghwa and ayeon have a typical cliched frenemies in the workplace relationship. they don't really have anything against each other, but in the journalism workplace, it's hard for women to get recognition, and instead of working together, they frequently feel the need to pit themselves against each other to gain respect in the office. myunghwa isn't a mean person, but will always claim to have seniority due to age and time working at the company when they both have a piece going for the same spot in the paper and it annoys ayeon to no end.

lifestyle : ayeon's typical work day schedule:
waking up at 7:00am in order to get breakfast by young-ae. eats breakfast and gets ready for work, typically taking about an hour to look decent.
she leaves the apartment by 8:15ish and catches the subway to get to work. she arrives five to ten minutes before 9am and uses from 8:50/5 to 9am to set up and get her first set of assignments at her desk.
from 9am to 1pm, she's working on the first set. her deadline for these are usually right after lunch break at 2pm. she usually has a working lunch, eating conveience store ramen, kimchi, kimbap, and snagging a few coffee flavoured drinks to get her through the rest of the day.
on mondays, typically she'll get her big weekly or monthly piece depending on the subject, given her deadline, and is working on that after 2pm till the end of the workday. the end usually is seen as 6pm, but there are times that she'll stay later just to get a headstart on outling her big piece or to finish editing something else.

if she's going to an interview, she usually only has a halfday at work or the full day off depending on the scheduling of the interview. she'll meet the interviewee at the place of their choosing. interviews usually last an hour and a half or more depending on how big the piece is. she records these and then goes home to transcribe, picking out important bits and highlighting them, etc. for the piece.

ayeon's typical non-work day schedule:
young-ae will always check to see if ayeon wants breakfast on days that she doesn't work, and if she does and young-ae is busy, she'll leave something in the kitchen that she can heat up or ayeon will just eat cereal or find a way to survive until lunch.
ayeon takes her days off very seriously and usually doesn't change out of her pjs or her shirt of the day. she'll wake up when she feels like it (usually before noon, but when she's either sick or overworked she'll sleep past) and drink coffee while watching the news to keep up with any pieces that she might need for her own work.
after this, she usually picks a drama or anime that she hasn't finished or started and watches that for however long she can stand. ayeon distracts herself by knitting or embordiery while watching to keep her hands busy. if she grows bored, she'll usually clean the apartment or other household chores that she's been putting off.
she also loves playing with mimi and cuddling on the couch in the morning.
if she's meeting with her sister or a friend, she'll wear actual clothes and go meet them at their designated spot. pretty standard for meeting up,hanging out and going home.
she usually is either out or doing something at home until young-ae comes back to cook dinner. at that point, it's pretty to the point, eat dinner, clean up, get ready and then go to bed.

trivia :
-ayeon loves dogs. she and young-ae have a pug named mimi who is two years old. they adopted her from a care (korean adoption chain) in dongdaemun. mimi sleeps in ayeon's bed.
-ayeon's job is similar to a freelance journalist, where she writes whatever the editor needs for that issue. she's a versatile writer.
-do not take her to anything with circus music -- it freaks her out. def something to jump scare her with.
- ayeon loves coffee, and will get v v v upset without it.
- has a habit of puffing her cheeks out when she doesn't get what she wants. beware, it's very cute.
-she doesn't sleep when she knows she has nothing to do the next day.
- will 10000% be upset if she has to wear pants all the time just because she's now living with more people. how dare you force her to wear stupid pants. let her have her oversized shirts and blankets.
- because of young-ae's crazy schedule, it's honestly not surprising for them to not see each other for lengths at a time. young-ae just assumes that if she's not there on a usual work day, she's spent the night at her sister's and will eventually come back.
"love among the stars"

love interest :  suho aka kim joomyun
backup :
baek aka byun baekhyun, hun aka oh sehun

personality traits :
( + ) : adaptable, thoughtful, quick-witted, determined
( - ) : self-depreciating, mature, too tolerant, perfectionist
( / ) : makes puns, not emotionally aware (? i'll explain below), generous

personality in depth : suho's adaptability is something to admire, just like his patience when it comes to being a the leader of a rowdy group such as the guardians. he can be a strong leader, he can be a gentle peacemaker, suho can even be a fair judge. this ability to adjust to whatever situation or person he's faced with is truly a valuable gift and is one of many thigns that make him the best leader for the guardians. he's also very kind and remembers little things that people tell him. suho is extremely considerate of others and what they might need; he's always ready to try and help and accomodate as best he can. thinking quick and acting fast is something suho's always excelled in. he tries to be accomdating as much as possible, and is ready to improvise or change routes whenever needed in order to keep up with everything changing. it helps when put on the spot by anyone and anything, whether it be something as a crazy battle or even just an excuse from someone unaware of who they are or what they're doing. suho is more than anything else determined. he'll always find a way to keep going even if it seems like there's no way out. he doesn't like giving up and has never been known to do so.

suho is the type to think the way to get everyone to like him or to make him seem 'relateable' is to tear himself down in a 'funny way'. when in actuality, it just doesn't help his image and can hurt his own self-esteem. he does this very often, despite the other guardians telling him it's not true (even though they tend to rag on him for the same things for laughs). he's very mature for his age, having been a guardian longer than most and knowing the stakes all too well of this mission the guardians are given. this tends to sometimes take over everything else, and he can be seen as no fun or too serious. he feels like this needs to be his 'normal' setting since he's the leader, but that's not the case and he should loosen up ever so slightly. despite maturity being a prevalent first impression of the water guardian, he's commonly called a 'doormat' by the others because he tends ot let them say whatever they want about him and not even flinch. while it's good to take the insults and jokes and let them roll off, there needs a to be a line before the boys go too far and really hurt his feelings. perfection is something to strive for in suho's mind, be it with himself and what he does or how the mission goes: he's quickly learned that with these guys, it's not going to go perfectly but he tries to put pressure on himself to be perfect when it's not okay and can really stress him out internally.

if you like puns (especially really bad ones), suho is your guy. chen and xiumin will claim and yell that suho has no funnybone in his body, but his jokes can get a few laughs out of others, and that's enough for him. sometimes, people just don't get emotions. suho is definitely one of them. he can see the needs of others, but not the emotions tied to them. especially when it comes to his own. suho's never been one to be 'emotionally intelligent' -- he's just never had the chance to really deal with his emotions or the emotions of others properly. so he can be pretty oblivious to them. generousity is something that the world certainly needs more of it, and if the world could just... extract just some of that from suho, that'd probably help both sides. he's kind and is willing to do a lot of things for someone if he thinks they're in need -- but he sort of takes the whole "giving you the shirt off their back" literally sometimes. and that's something that can definitely be taken advantage of in our world.

relationship details :

suho and ayeon met when she was on her way back from meeting her sister. honestly, all she wanted to do was take her hapnts off soon as she walked into the door and snuggle up with her dog and watch a bad kdrama until young-ae came home, but alas, she had to get there first. anyways, she was switching trains and it was really busy, so ayeon was just making her way through the crowd and then suddenly --
BAM.
SHE HAD RUN INTO SOMEONE, KNOCKING OVER A pair of glasses to the ground and a guy quickly trying to recover, his hands going everywhere but where they had fell. as a fellow glasses wearer, ayeon felt his pain and stooped down to help him. they ended up talking for a bit while waiting for the train, and ayeon was glad to have made a friend. she caught suho on similar train patterns throughout a couple of weeks with casual conversation, nothing too in depth.

suho's plan to meet his charge was just to kind of follow her around and see her pattern, then find the best way to introduce himself and go from there. however, of course he'd run into her -- being out of water just bigs his eyes and those stupid glasses, although helpful, can sometimes distort his perspective and well, he ended up meeting her by being knocked over by her. he decided to play it cool, and then just ended up following her schedule around the train, running into her and having conversation to get to know her and slowly ease her into it. he could handle this.

However, just like the first time -- suho's plans seem to always get altered from their originial trajectory.

she discovered what the guardians were when it was two am and she felt dripping coming from her ceiling. it was weird, since she lived on the top floor of her tiny complex, so they shouldn't have any leaking problems. since it was 2am, she would feel bad calling up the owner unless she could tell them what was going on -- so she went up the stairs to the roof to find a guy soaking wet on her roof and another with fire in his hands trying to dry him.
needless to say, she screamed. then the soaking wet guy stood up and was trying to calm her down, and she recognized him as suho, her train buddy.

apparently, suho had been trying to do some "late night" re-con on his charge, making sure nothing's going after her in the night, etc. -- and chanyeol and chen had come along, just to support in case anything went down. needless to say, chen tried to electrocute something after getting too excited, suho tried to put him out, and ended up drenching the entire roof (hence why it started leaking through the ceiling of ayeon's apartment) and chanyeol was like "it's fine!!! i'll just dry you all quicker with fire!!!" which kinda worked until suho's charge came bursting through the door and was like "...uhm wTF *insert screeching here*"

so suho had to calm her down and do a lot of convincing to come with him -- she honestly was like "uhm no i'm calling the cops" and he kinda pulled the "who's gonna believe you? if you don't come with us now either us or the other people will come to get you" ofc ayeon's gonna ask "uhmm who're the other guys???" and one of them was like "well, if they find you, you won't be alive very long."

aaaaand that's how ayeon got pulled into the safe house with a bunch of other weirdo guys and clueless girls.

honestly the most upsetting thing about this wasn't that she was being held captive -- it was that she didn't have her laptop or mimi, or even able to contact her sister. and so she was pretty grouchy the first few days she was brought there.
somehow, she and baekhyun got inot a fight (probably about her wanting to leave to see her sister at the very least -- but no one was letting her go) ((unless that's not a thing??? idk if being forced into a safehouse means that they won't be able to leave or not but i'm going with the assumption that it means no one leaves)) and suho tried to be peacemaker.
after calming her down, suho sat down with her to try and talk to her about what she needed. when he couldn't give her what she needed, he was kind of at a loss of what to do. and when ayeon started crying he kind of panicked.
honestly, they're really really awkward because suho + emotions = what??? how can i help you in not an emotion way bc what are those???
and ayeon is just Sooooo emotional that honestly he was overwhelmed because she just... felt so much and what is that like???
eventually ayeon got curious about what exactly the boy's powers were and started asking, and each of them kinda of explained (because like i said ayeon is master pester champ she will break you) and she got to suho and he showed his control over water a little. then ayeon was like "huh... so i guess that means there's two sides of you." and suho is like i'm sorry what
"well... at first glance, a river or body of water can look calm and collected on the surface, but underneath -- it's got a storng current that can pull you under."
suho didn't really get what that meant but okay ayeon, you're p cool.
suho and ayeon interactions are really interesting, because suho is so curious about how a tiny person can feel so much and ayeon is just convinced there's more to him that meets the eye, much like his power. so a lot of their conversations probably will center around emotions and suho sort of understanding more and more about his own emotions.
i can see suho admiring ayeon for being so open with her emotions, but he also can really be annoyed by her being like "oh yeah let's go!!!" without even listening to the pros and cons. however, she slowly pries away at his reservations to get him to open up more and express himself more.
with ayeon, she'd definitely admire his thoughtfulness like wow how did you remember all of that that's amazing and you're amazing.... but she'd totally hate his whole 'maturity' face he puts on more often than not because she's HEARD his puns and knows that he can let loose a little. (she thinks his puns are hilarious, btw)
ayeon does think that suho is attractive -- she has eyes, i mean come on -- but it's honestly a toss up. ayeon wants to be someone suho can depend on, but would suho even want to have someone as emotionally driven as ayeon as a rock?
and with suho's problem: he's still got so much he doesn't understnad about emotions... could he really be that person that could give ayeon the affection and love she deserves, especially when she's been let down soooo many times before?
"don't be jealous of the moon"

scene suggestions : suho had glasses in the mv -- so what if he needs glasses out of water bc the surface messes with his eyes, but if he's wet/underwater, he doesn't need them?
- boys being dumb with their powers -- baekhyun blacking out the safe house or the place of his l.i.'s enemy, chanyeol accidentally setting things on fire by touching them, xiumin's l.i. being like... "refreeze my ice cream pls" lololol
- ayeon gets a journal from suho bc she comments on how much she misses keeping track of everything and how trying to remember everything messes with her head bc that's so cute!! and then she makes little notes about the group's journey while also keeping track of her own feelings
- if she ends up really really liking suho (and you want them to have a cute confession moment) she mentions it in her journal thinking no one's gonna read it and suho reads it and is like "...why do i feel so warm and happy at this hey ayeon what is this feeling"
-  more to come!!!!
comments :  suho needs much love so here i am to give it! i looooove this idea, it's so unique and omg power was such a good mv to base an applyfic off of! :) also, i kinda of just word vomited on the relationships section -- tell me if i'm missing anything, but i wanted sort of just an overview of their relationship and interactions, and i see them as such a 50/50 couple that i didn't want to try and force anything romantic, you know? :O
password : water (it's such a throwback but oh my god i still listen to this almost every day that's how much i love it)
