PERSONALITY ELABORATION: to most people, soojung probably gives off the impression of a spoiled rich girl who could probably get anything and everything she wanted with a push of a button. Her brutally honest and straightforward speech doesn't really play in her favor either. honestly, it's not her intention to come off self-centered, but she doesn't have the time nor want to waste her breath justifying herself to people she would probably never see again nor have an interest to speak to. she believed she never needed to prove herself to anyone except herself and maybe her father-
soojung believes actions speak far louder than words do. she's probably one of the most hard-working individuals you'll ever meet. the fact that her father is a CEO of another entertainment industry is enough motivation for her to be a better version of herself. she always put her 100% into everything that she is passionate about in order to prove to her father that she didn't need his influence in order for her to get where she needs to be. she likes setting small goals for herself to help her get to where she needs to be.
soojung had tried to see the good in people when she was younger and more naive, but growing up in the same household as her father and being able to see what he had to go through to become successful made her more distrusting, especially towards men. because of the things she has seen, she has learned to pick up the signs far quicker than most. call it a defense mechanism if you will, but once she picks up on the situation at hand, she can usually talk herself outof them or speak in a way that changes the situation to where it will play in her favor.
BACKGROUND:
It wasn't easy being the only daughter from a wealthy upbringing. soojung was priviledged, there's no doubt about it. however, unlike most kids people see often portrayed in dramas and movies, soojung never wanted any of this. growing up she had always wanted to earn her living, but somehow her father had always intervened one way or another and would give her what she wanted. her father was a career driven man who was hardly ever at home and so he figured by giving his daughter everything she wants that it would compensate for the time they lost together, that- and it would ease his consciousness a bit. Her mother had passed on when she was only five years old. she has no real memory of her, but her father insists she was a wonderful woman who would be proud to see just how well she has grown up.
her father means well, she's sure, but his inability to see what makes her happy irked her. she had tried reasoning with him a few times, but he just wouldn't listen. after awhile, it felt like empty words and soojung stopped trying to convince him altogether and instead went behind his back and slowly began working towards her new-found dream of becoming an idol.

in the time that soojung was a trainee under jyp, these two met up
frequently despite knowing it was wrong and the consequences that would
follow if they were caught. but they couldn't help it, the unspoken chemistry
between the two was far too strong to drop it all. however, once nayeon
caught on and hit the fan, soojung ended things and ignored every
phone call, text message from him. he still tries to contact her to this day.

TRAINEE LIFE: honestly, singing and dancing was something soojung had seen as a hobby. singing was something she enjoyed doing and was one thing she was particularly good at. when she was younger she would always be the first to offer to sing at a family gathering and her family members were always blown away by how lovely her voice sounded. as she grew older, her tone turned ore mature and people started inviting her to more formal events to have her sing at which she accepted generously. it wasn't until her father began pestering her about doing something useful with her voice that she began doing the complete opposite of what he wanted. she didn't want to use "daddy's money" to make it big in the industry. she wanted to make it big herself and have the satisfaction of knowing that it was through her hard work that got her to where she is now, something her father would never understand. in secret, she ran off and audtioned for JYP and became a trainee there and a few years following that, the survival show SIXTEEN happened.
soojung never imagined herself to be a part of the survival show SIXTEEN, but it happened and boy was it an interesting ride. it was highly competitive, most girls did not particularly like her, no whether it was because she was gifted in vocals or because of the the incident with JB and Nayeon was beyond her. performing covers of songs was a breeze for her. it'd always be her, nayeon, jihyo, and occasionally jungyeon who were the first selected out of the bunch as to who could advance in that area. however, when it came to dancing- soojung always felt like she fell short. she knew that with practice she could probably get better, but even so- she could never move as well as momo did.
the reasons behind why she was elimanted before the final round was quite vague. All she remembered them saying was that she needed more training and in her head that gut feeling that her father had intercepted somehow hung in the back of her mind. Her father had always been very adamant about having her debut under his successful company and it wouldn't have surprised her if he did have something to do with it. after being denied debut, soojung saw no use staying anymore and sought out a new company - BigHit. If she remembered correctly, one of the scouting agents for BigHit Ent was an attendee at the last wedding she performed at. He was so blown away by her vocals he couldn't pass up the opportunity to recruit her and so he slipped her his business card and the rest is history.
TRAINING YEARS: formally trained for 4 years under jyp.

PRE-DEBUT ACTIVITIES: due to her good looks, her father made arrangements to where she could appear in a few cfs before and during her time training under jyp. soojung worked closely with SAMSONITE RED. she even had a chance to cameo in the korean drama 'Producer' alongside Kim Soohyun and IU.
she also took part in SIXTEEN but was eliminated just before finals. she's still kinda salty about it, but relieved at the same time. had she debuted under that group, she and Nayeon would definitely be at each others' throats (discussed under scandals).
SCANDALS:
Ah. Love can be so fickle sometimes and that was exactly the case for Im Jaebum and Im Nayeon, but to be fair- it wasn't entirely her fault those two ended the way they did. In fact, it wasn't her fault at all. She was just stupid enough to wedge herself in between them. Jaebum and soojung had been involved with each other long before he began talking to Nayeon. soojung and Jaebum had met through family connections at a party her father hosted before she joined jyp. It was there that the two felt an immediately connection and may or may not have messed around a little. They continued their little 'friends with benefits' arrangement even after she joined jyp and had established that they were nothing more than that. She knew how he was. And what she feared ultimately became true, except she wasn't the target. Nayeon was.
soojung had overheard him and his boys wager a bet- a bet where he would seduce Nayeon into sleeping with him and convince her he actually loved her then dump her when she's at her most vulnerable state and all this other bull- that made her loathe men like him even more than she already did. And for whatever reason, soojung was stupid enough to get her caught up in the mess. Why exactly did she want her now ex-best friend to view her as the bad guy? Why did she kinda save Jaebum's sorry again? Was it to save her from the amount of hurt and humiliation she could've experienced had she discovered the motive Im Jaebum had when he approached her? Perhaps.

PERSONALITY: He's generally quiet, but can speak out when he needs to. Although he is the oldest and gives off a more mature vibe, he can be quite childish at times and only the few that are closest to him have the luxury of witnessing this all in action. Again, because he is the oldest, he feels that it is his duty to take care of s and those around him. He shows how much he values and treasures someone through his actions. Jin has often been called the "mother-like" figure of the group. He's great at comforting people when they're upset and likes to make sure things are neat and tidy at all times. Despite all of this, he does have a playfu side to him, but it's not as rough compared to say his more playful members.
HISTORY: do you believe in a thing called fate? soojung surely didn't, that is until she met him.
she absolutely /hates/ arriving late to things, but none of the three alarms she set this morning went off. tired, hungry, and in desperate need of caffeine, soojung managed to drag herself into the nearest coffee shop and placed an order for her usual - a caramel macchiato to go as well as a few other drinks to take to the company as both an apology an excuse as to why she was late. as she was reaching for her tray of drinks, a larger hand brushes against hers. soojung looked up to find herself face-to-face with a handsome man, but she was so perplexed with being late, what it meant to be polite flew out the window. she basically threw him a dirty look that screamed, "if you don't get your hands off of this tray right now, death with ensue." he took the hint, and let it go- and right when she was about to leave, he came rushing after her with a tray in his hand. it seemed the baristas had mixed up the order and she'd gotten his instead. ugh- aside from feeling like death, now she had to add 'the worst human being' to that mix. but thankfully she'd never see him again, right? wrong.
the weekend following their first encounter, soojung bumps into him at a wedding she was to perform. at first, neither of them remembered each other, but after looking at each others' face more closely, memories came flooding back. jin would never admit this to her, but he definitely remembered her and purposelly bumped into her as an excuse to talk to her again. the two surprisingly clicked after apologies were exchanged on her part and that wasn't the only thing that was exchanged that night-
the two kept in touch for a few months, then schedules kept him busy and they stopped talking for a period of time and in that short period of time, soojung had left jyp and signed with BigHit where the pair reunited and rekindled what they had started.
INTERACTIONS: jin understands her better than most - he understands that when she insists she's alright or would rather be alone, she actually means the opposite and instead of leaving like she wants, he would scoop her up in his arms and press kisses to the top of her head and that was enough to calm her and ease her worries. she has also been eating a lot better (more regularly and even eating vegetebles she hates too) after he came into her life. thanks to him, she can now cook stuff other than ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
the pair prefer staying in than going out. they value their time together since their schedules are so busy, but every now and then, they do go out and do something that requires some athleticism like hiking, canoeing, etc. at the company, they act as if they're just friends, but when they're away from the eyes of the public, the amount of affection they show one another is enough to make someone gag - backhugs, forehead kisses - it's the small things that make their heart flutter.
CURRENT + ENDING STATUS: i'll leave it up for you to decide where they end up; they're basically dating without a label right now and i think they'd prefer to keep it that way. as long as they know what feelings they have for each other, they don't need the label.
to say she likes him is an understatement. at some point she had fallen head over heels for him. he's different than most men she has encountered in her life and for whatever reason she feels as though she can trust him. his genuine concern for those around him and the way he shows care and responds to conflict won her over. her ideal type had always been someone who could look after her. she never wanted someone who complements her, but someone who completes her and jin? he- he fills in all the areas in which she lacks.
TRIVIA:
- jin is old-fashioned when he dates and because he treasures her, he wants to take things slow - so they haven't done anything past lingering touches and kissing despite seeing each other for a little over a year.
- she calls him princess to annoy the crap out of him, but he gets back at her by calling her his prince (lol idk).

gosh, i can't even articulate how thrilled i am for this moment, it's truly humbling to know that all of my hard work is finally paying off in the end. /she breathes a small sigh of relief, eyes disappearing into crescents, but little did they know behind the smile all she''s thinking is how it's about damn time;
ii. are you close to any of your labelmates? if yes, who?
/she laughs lightly; all of my labelmates treat me quite well. i don't think i could disclose any favorites. they might get mad y'know and we can't have that now can we? /''i can't believe i'm missing the next episode of Ji Changwook's new drama for this..';

i would have to say [giza]. she's had it pretty tough, but despite it all it was her determination and hard work that brought her here. i'm proud of her.
v. what do you hope for underdogs?
i know that things will only get tougher from here, so my hope is that we won't lose sight of our dreams no matter what obstacles come hurtling our way, but to instead- face them head-on because it's these obstacles that help make us stronger.
