— "FREEDOM IS THE OXYGEN OF THE SOUL" 
One of Eunsae's greatest strengths is her open-mindedness. She has a 'live and let live' policy where everyone is free to be themselves. She is never one to judge others for the sake of it because as human beings, everyone is equal and entitled to their own opinions. And she has a lot of respect when it comes to people because she is genuinely interested in them. Eunsae is good on the social front; she is verbally skilled and very witty as she uses her observational skills to see others and learn how to interact with them with it. She is also a very good at manipulation as she can properly justify anything she does or thinks. As a result, she can deal with any type of personality and adapt to any situation, which is part of why she handles sudden changes so well. It may not be a skill she is the most proud of, but she will use it when she deems it necessary. Eunsae lives for unconventionality and intellectal independence. She is someone who likes to deviate from the crowd, not just to stand out, but to be who she wants to be. Always looking for new ways to stimulate her brain, she is after new experiences, forming new opinions as they come, and stubbornly makes her way through life regardless of what other people think.

It actually comes off as a surprise to many that Eunsae is quite observant and can pick up details like body language and manner of speech from others. She gathers her information with objectivity in mind because her emotions don't get in the way. There are times where she can seem to be above emotions altogether, and when she speaks, she speaks the truth. It may be shocking or painful because of her disregard for the feelings of others, but she intends no harm by it. She simply calls it as she sees it and doesn't let emotions cloud her judgment. Overall, she is very detached from emotion. It takes time for her to truly open up to someone, and she often comes across as cold and inexpressive. There is an exception for her friends and family, however. Not to the extent of physical affection as she is very awkward with hugs and PDA in general, but there is a warmth to her words and a fierce and umatched loyalty to be seen. She is very specific about who she lets into this small circle, and she doesn't have a lot of close friends as a result. Those she does have are there because they challenge her and keep their relationship with her fresh with intellectual stimulation and freedom to be herself.

Considering her general inexpressiveness and adherence to logic, Eunsae doesn't really come off to people as a creative individual. She is, in fact, quite imaginative and has a great passion for new things, which areas like art and music has plenty of. Music has been her passion since early childhood, which is clear to anyone who gets close enough to see, and she sees creativity as an amazing way to challenge yourself and make yourself think outside of the box, which she does a whole lot of in her everyday life.

One trait of Eunsae's that really stands out to many is her sarcastic nature. While her natural wit can be very comical and entertaining, it is sometimes used in the form of sarcasm, which can have a very different response. There is no doubt in Eunsae's mind that her sarcastic comments have some humor in them, but not everyone sees it this way. She has a tendency to pick on anyone she finds weak or dull-minded, often in the form of irony and teasing comments, but it's simply another verbal exercise for her and is never meant to actually harm anyone. Most will see it as a joke, but there are people who don't realize it and can find her comments rude and even hurtful. If she doesn't watch her words carefully or says too much in the heat of the moment, she can really put a hole in someone's self-esteem or confidence, even if she doesn't realize there and then. If she does, she makes sure to apologize and show remorse, which is hard as she is emotionally inept at best.

Her rebellious tendencies comes from the simple matter of wanting to have her own way. She has a stubbornness that sometimes causes her failure, but she continues to do it her way even though others have proved it to be wrong. Eunsae is smart and knows when it's wrong, but she keeps going on because it is her way. She is very fixed in her opinions and stubborn when confronted. Despite all this she would never impose her ideas on others and has respect for everyone's differences, even if she might not agree on it herself.

Her rebellious and obstinate side, coupled with her emotional detachment, can often cause her to push people away, but that is the last thing she wants to do. For how curious she is, she questions everything and wonders 'why?" so much that she can question her own existence. She will wonder if what she does is useful at all. Eunsae wants nothing more than for other people to notice her and appreciate her. This is caused by underlying insecurities that makes her wonder if the people she cares about accepts her for she is, yet these are never brought to the surface because to her, it doesn't matter that much because she knows she's special. She doesn't have a need for constant validation, but it's nice to know whether people really acknowledge you and accept you, which is what eats at her on the inside at times.

BACKGROUND :　

Shin Eunsae was born on February 11, 1996, in Ulsan, South Korea. Her mother, Jang Misook, teaches music in middle school, and her father, Shin Byungjoon, works as a high school math teacher and school counselor. She has two older sisters, Eunyoung and Eunjo, with whom she shares an of four and seven years, respectively. Her parents were both in their mid- to late-thirties by the time the youngest came along, during which they were living in a fairly standard family home on the outskirts of Ulsan as they wanted to raise their daughters in a peaceful and less crowded neighborhood than what city life could give them.

Music has always been a big part of their family, largely because of their mother the music teacher. All the girls learnt how to play the piano, but only the eldest daughter (Eunjo) had the patience to stick with it. Eunyoung grew more fond of the guitar and singing, while Eunsae was more sports-oriented with an underlying passion for music. There weren't too many children where the family lived, but the girls had each other despite their constant bickering and conflicting personalities. Eunjo and Eunsae, especially Eunsae, often found it fun to tease Eunyoung as she had always been the more emotional of the three, but they would also tease each other or be teased back just as often. It was all about finding the right kind of blackmail.

Eunsae was fourteen years old when her family moved to Seoul. After having both of her sisters graduate and move out, her parents felt that the house had become too empty with just the three of them left. When they moved, they downsized from a family home on the outskirts of town to a smaller home located in the city itself. It suited Eunsae just fine as she had now at more opportunities laid out before her to explore, much like she had already done back in Ulsan. She had wanted to something with music like being a music producer or form a band with someone, but becoming an idol wasn't something she had really thought as deeply about. When a representative from DSP Media approached her in 2013 for an audition, she became excited at the opportunity, if simply for thrill of auditioning. She wasn't the most musically gifted, unlike her mother and Eunyoung, but when she was accepted, things got real. How exciting!

LIKES :

▸ Mythology — There is something very mystical and unreal about mythology that makes Eunsae want to know everything. She knows a lot of random facts about various mythologies; Greek, Roman, Chinese, Korean and so on.
▸ Surprises — She loves surprising others and being surprised.
▸ Honesty — Eunsae prides herself on her honest approach to life. Little white lies are alright every now and then, but if someone lies right to her face (and she will see through it all), she is not a happy camper.
▸ Libraries — There is something rather cosy about an old, well-kept library. The smell of books, sources of so much knowledge, even the quiet atmosphere, draws her in like an elderly woman looking to read the newspaper. 
▸ Music — It has always been a big part of her life, from learning to play the piano to understanding the theory behind it. She has a place in her heart for most genres of music from the funky flow of disco to the serene chant of choir music to the endless depths of pop and ballads.

DISLIKES :

▸ Broken promises — She doesn't like making promises she can't keep, and having a promise made to her broken is equivalent to breaking her trust.
▸ Indecisiveness — As she is often very fixed in her own decisions and opinions, someone who changes theirs at the drop of the hat leaves a bad taste in .
▸ Confrontations — While Eunsae can be fairly rude and speaks freely, she is rarely one to be found in a full-blown confrontation. Usually, she likes to stay away from major arguments and keep things peaceful (and fun).
▸ Prejudice — Those who judge others prematurely are not worth Eunsae's time. She makes judgments through observations and objective thinking, not because some guy up above said this who knows how long ago.
▸ Rejection — Eunsae likes to be acknowledged and noticed for what she does. Being rejected is never fun, and it's up there on things she tries to avoid. If people have proper reasoning for it, she will understand, but it still hurts a little.

HOBBIES :

▸ Video games — She enjoys the variety of video games available on the market. Her favorite genre is a toss-up between puzzle games and psychological horror games.
▸ Tinkering — What better way to understand something than to take it apart and figuring out the components. Eunsae is always messing around with gadgets, be it as simple as changing settings on her phone to building her own computer from scratch. Fun fact: When she learnt the piano, she was interested in looking inside than actually using it, watching all the parts moving as her sisters played.
▸ Sports — Eunsae likes both single sports and team sports, but the best sports are the ones that challenges your brain and makes you observe and learn in the moment.

HABITS :

▸ Cursing under her breath — Eunsae is good with words, but she has the occasional habit of cursing when she is feeling stressed or has hurt herself somehow.
▸ Angry texting — If she is really angry with someone during a text conversation, she texts even faster than usual, so it's possible to detect her mood depending on her response speed. 
▸ Blank stares — When someone lectures her or she is not part of a conversation, she tends to zone out and stare at something (or someone). It has often caused misunderstandings and confusion as she isn't always aware of exactly where she is looking before someone points it out.

While Eunsae is a free-spirit who prefers to do her own thing, Eunjo is a lot more conservative who conforms to (most of) society's standards, albeit in her own way. Those two weren't too close growing up because of their , but it has gotten better with years. They share a common preference for logic over emotions, and Eunsae appreciates her sister's honesty, even if it hurts at times. Neither of them leave anything left unsaid, which can result in butting heads, but no outright fighting. They are either best friends or enemies, according to their parents, but they tend to get along more often than not.

Eunyoung stands out a little among her sisters with her tendency to wear her heart on her sleeve. She has been the victim of many jokes and teasings in the past, particularly from Eunsae, but she has never been one to hold a grudge, which is something Eunsae has always admired about her. A little known fact is that Eunsae used to be envious of her sister's musical talents growing up, but she knew she didn't have the same passion for it as she did. Eunyoung can sometimes be a bit of a mother hen towards Eunsae and is often one to shower her baby sister with affection, which Eunsae doesn't mind, but is always extremely awkward about.

 

FRIENDS :

▸ Partner in crime — Kim Saetbyeol (21) | Student/Model | Energetic, clever, impulsive, restless

There is little doubt in people's minds as to why these two are friends. Having known each other since age 15, they have seen each other through some of their best (and worst) years. Not many people, not even Eunsae's family, knows her quite like Saetbyeol does, and she has actually become very good at predicting her actions where others might struggle (a lot). Saetbyeol's restless nature can cause her to be a bit all over the place, even for Eunsae's taste, while Eunsae herself can make Saetbyeol (a fairly stubborn person) seem weak-willed, which can and will irritate her often enough. Neither of them are particularly affectionate, but they have a strong bond that has been through a lot. Saetbyeol is very supportive of Eunsae and her goals, and she is proud to be part of Wonderland's fan club.

 

WONDERLAND :　

▸ Queen of Hearts — Oh Chaeyeon | Charismatic, sensual, childish, vain 
It's kind of difficult to pinpoint exactly who Eunsae likes less than their ever-glorious leader and eldest member. The way she puts herself above the other members leaves a bad taste in , and she has very little respect for her. She will respect her opinions and her as a person, but has very little love or sense of loyalty towards her. Eunsae isn't hateful towards Chaeyeon and is perfectly capable of acting civilized and casual, but she doesn't listen to her at all and does not hesitate to show resistance when needed. // 2/10

▸ Catterpillar — name | personality traits 
Unlike with Chaeyeon, Eunsae has a lot of respect towards the Caterpillar. While she isn't always the most fun member around, she is definitely the smartest and more often than not able to keep up with Eunsae in communication, which she greatly appreciates. The challenges this girl faces and overcomes as an unofficial leader earns her points in Eunsae's book, and she makes sure to make her day a little easier (not too easy, though) by looking out for trouble and not causing too much of it herself if she can help it. They do heads at times because Eunsae dislikes being micromanaged, but they are normally good towards each other. // 8/10

▸ White Rabbit — name | personality traits
This girl reminds Eunsae of a true rabbit; jumpy, easily frightened and very aware of her surroundings. Some part of her wants to help her out and get her used to the quick pace of things, while another part would prefer to leave her behind for not being able to keep up. She is not above teasing her, which isn't very hard, but she will not sit around and watch while this girl has yet another panic attack. She admires her determination and strength, but does not see her surviving long in the industry without going through some changes along the way. // 6/10

▸ Dormouse — name | personality traits
To put it simply, Eunsae doesn't get this member. Normally, she can look at someone and get a general gist of who they are. Easier said than done here. Her reserved personality makes it hard to get to know her, and she will often try to poke fun at her simply to get a reaction out of her. She doesn't have anything against the girl, perhaps wishing for her to open up more and show off her true potential. She sees something in her, but isn't sure of what; a certain intelligence, a bright future, something... She'll have to wait and see. Maybe a little bit more. // 5/10

▸ March Hare — name | personality traits 
If there is one thing Eunsae likes about this member, it is her tendency to speak her mind. She finds her extremely amusing to watch just because of her unpredictable she is, and the way she makes the others react (even the Dormouse) never fails to amaze her. Still, there are times where she goes a little too far and ruins the atmosphere. Eunsae believes the keeping the peace where it is possible; March Hare makes it difficult to keep that in the group sometimes. She may be the only person who can truly anger Eunsae with the right words, and they are definitely not among the closest members. // 6/10

▸ Cheshire Cat — name | personality traits
Most of the time, the Cheshire Cat is just fun as a person and as a member. She knows how to brighten a room and lift up the atmosphere and just make everything more dynamic and interesting. Sometimes, life becomes too routine-y for Eunsae's taste, so her pranks can be a breath of fresh air. She is more than happy to assist if deemed necessary and doesn't mind if it's directed at her - most of the time. The Cheshire Cat isn't the best at reading Eunsae, and getting pranked at the wrong time can cause an outrage, but at most, it'll be expressed with a frown and a couple of harsh words. She likes the kid and wants to spare her from the worst. // 7/10

This girl is someone that Eunsae makes sure to look out for a bit more. She feels a little like a big sister to her because she sees her hard work and potential, and pities her a little for the scrutiny she goes through. Personally, she doesn't care what others say, but Alice is so young and deserves a bit of a wrong. She doesn't go easy on her and will as she sees fit, but she sees it as more of an exercise to give her thicker skin. Her reserved nature makes it a little hard for Eunsae to know her, but she knows that she is better than the geezer at the top. // 7/10

Eunsae sees Eunsuh as one of the most fun and interesting members of Flower Girls. She is self-assured, honest and knows when and how to have fun. Despite the age difference, the two girls get along more than one would expect. While it may be a bit early to call them friends, one certainly cannot deny their chemistry and outstanding match. // 6/10

▸ Manager — Choi Kyungsoo (22) | Bloom Ent. worker | Hardworking, dedicated, mischievous
Kyungsoo is definitely the less fun manager, but he is just as likable in Eunsae's book. He's good at what he does, patient, tolerant and generally a very good guy. She feels a little bad for him having to deal with Chaeyeon's, his senior, on a daily basis. They generally get along well enough as long as he isn't being too controlling with her. // 6/10

▸ Manager — Kim Seungjae (24) | Bloom Ent. worker | Caring, goofy, mischievous
Seungjae is a fun guy to be around, and he is often happy to tag along on whatever fun the members pull him into. He is definitely the less mature manager of the two, but Eunsae doesn't mind that at all. He tries so hard, but often struggles to keep up with Eunsae sometimes, even more so than Kyungsoo. Eunsae finds him more relatable than Kyungsoo, but doesn't have a preference as it depends on what manager she needs what for. // 7/10

▸ Vocal trainer — Moon Jangmi (22) | Bloom Ent. worker | Motherly, hardworking, insecure 
Jangmi reminds Eunsae of her sisters with Eunjo's hardworking nature and Eunyoung's motherly charms. She sees how hard the woman works despite her age and current situation, and she doesn't provide her with too much trouble in the singing department. Eunsae is far from the best singer, but Jangmi does wish for her to improve, and Eunsae sometimes finds her teaching methods to be a bit boring. // 6/10

▸ Choreographer — Ahn Shiwoo (27) | Bloom Ent. worker | Hardworking, strict, temperamental
Eunsae is very aware of the relationship between Shiwoo and Chaeyeon; not that it's much of a secret, anyway. This guy has unbelievably high standards, which she could reach if she wanted, but decides not to just to rile him up. He has such funny reactions! She has a tendency to talk back to him and doesn't understand his need for attention as well as his treatment of Eunha, but she also feels sorry for the guy because of Chaeyeon's obsession with him. Honestly, it's just great blackmail all around! // 4/10

STAGE NAME :　Zeta - equals 7 in the system of Greek numerals, which is her favorite number and a reference to her fascination with Greece and its mythology (among others).

TRAINEE YEARS :　Five years; DSP Media (2013-2017), Bloom Entertainment (2017-present)

TRAINEE LIFE :

▸ Her time at DSP Media was a mix of good and bad times, as it is with most trainees. She was able to keep up with the training and was good at thinking on the spot, charming the other trainees and even some of the instructors with her silver tongue. However, it was also hard because of the company's attempts to shape her to fit their agenda, and she was not having any of it. She knew very well how controlling the industry could be, but she wasn't going to pretend to be someone she wasn't. More than once was she pulled aside from the others and told to get her act together. If she wasn't so casual about it, she would almost be offended by their attempt to erase her personality. She didn't see anything wrong with what she did. At one point, she was one of the many girls considered for April, but they decided she didn't suit the image due to her more mature looks and ... "problematic attitude."

▸ After four years without much progress on her end, she left the company to try and find someone who would actually let her be herself. She auditioned for a couple that didn't work out for various reasons - not talented enough, not pretty enough, too strong of a personality... In the end, she heard about Bloom and their girl group, Flower Girls. While the group was met with moderate success at best, she saw the variety of girls and saw it as a sign to take a chance. She auditioned for Bloom in 2017 and got in, despite muttering a slight curse under her breath, which they either didn't notice or didn't care enough to point out.

During an appearance on a radio show, which took place early in the morning, the group was to perform their new song live. Eunsae, working on less than two hours of sleep, almost forgot to sing her part and cursed under her breath before doing it. This was caught live, and she had to issue an apology for her behavior, which was done against her will.

▸ 2019 — Wonderland's Zeta accused of having a bad attitude | false
Not even a year into their career before netizens started accusing Eunsae of having an attitude problem. Her blank stares, honesty and tendency to throw shade towards the other members with her expressions (all done in good fun) caused many to find her cold and disrespectful. She didn't care much for this, and it died down after a while.

▸ "Would it be weird if I said Barbra Streisand?" I inhale, then exhale quickly. "She did what she wanted and didn't listen to those trying to change who she was. She did change, but it was by her own will and not those of her company's. I aspire to be like that; just as fabulous, even when I am 70 years old - that takes skill!"
