ELABORATE

stranger ☾ when you first see mizuki across the room, she's like the moon - beautiful but far out of your reach. she's quiet in the way that makes it hard for you to start a conversation; you've seen the aftermath of the proud few who smirk and flirt, the way she wields words like a knife and unflinchingly delivers hurtful words with the casual, logical acknowledgement of truth.

associate ☾ you talk with her and know that she does wield her words with a sharp edge at times, unafraid to hit the bulls-eye, but she's also patient with a calm head and an ease in overcoming. she takes promises and favors very seriously and, over all, is quiet, but it makes talking to her that much easier because she actually listens and remembers. plus, you find, she's obstinate.

acquaintance ☾ it's over a meal that you discover her naivety, her willingness to believe in the best of people and their prowess, but also the way in which she color-codes everything and has her schedule for the day all planned out. she does not, you note, deviate from her plans easily. you realize thereafter, she sees all her commitments to the end, even bad ones.

friend ☾ it is during a walk, in which you don't remember telling her about your allergies but she knows (she observed, she explains) that you see the way her eyes flicker over a couple nearby. you ask what is wrong and she lowers her voice. it is a fight soon to happen; only a second later, the couple begins to argue. noticing everything, you realize, is not always a blessing. 

best friend ☾ you've spent a lot of time with her and you know sides of her most don't - the way she wants to know about everything (even if isn't good for her), the way she cares whole-heartedly and lovingly about her loved ones, and, rather annoyingly, the way in which she could be stabbed and call it a scratch. you think she's being sarcastic but no, she's just underdramatic.

brother ☾ you watch the way in which she assesses the new festival game, eyes calculating. you roundabout-edly ask for the third place prize. her eyes light up and you know, even before she wins you the prize, that she will because she knows her own abilities thoroughly even for something new, but also because she can be counted on for anything - a game is easy. 

tl;dr ☾ although seemingly cold, she's just a quiet and unexpectedly blunt person. inside, she's an adult-like figure who sees the scars but cares deeply and genuinely. she knows boundaries and limits without testing. she's still young, despite her sensible mentality, and willful. she believes even past her observations because she wants to trust, to believe in the best of humanity.

super excited for the story. hope you like mizuki. she kind of ran away from me and the number of pokemon she has is probably too much so feel free to cut that. i'm thinking about applying twice more but we shall see if i do.

headcanons:
* mizuki is usually an outdoors-y type but every so often, she researches instead and gets stuck inside with loads of loaned books, printed articles, and all sorts of papers that she's just absorbing. during this time, she forgets to eat and sleep and all other healthy things. luckily her pokemon and others (those listed in relationships above) are there to remind her to do all that.

* mizuki can withstand really cold temperatures quite well. people who are shivering all around her sometimes can't believe how comfortable she is in the snow. (they joke that she is part ice type, "of course, yukihime.") in contrast, she's more susceptible to heat, not in that she can't tolerate it or go out in the sun but that she gets heatstroke really easily for some reason. 

* mizuki's eyesight is actually quite normal. the glasses are actually reading glasses (from reading in the dark too often when she was young). she just keeps them on all the time because she used to lose them often when she was younger. she also, apparently, looks more approachable with glasses according to one sales clerk who was sincere enough she believed him.

quick background: 
* mizuki grew up in a single parent home where her dad buried himself in his work. when she was about 11, she found out her dad had accidentally had a son during a one-night stand when he was drunk and grieving; the son, he explained nervously, was coming to live with them because his (the son's) mother had passed away. to his surprise, mizuki nodded and accepted it.

* coming to live together, it wasn't necessarily easy or close especially since the both mizuki and itsuki were largely independent, having come from rather well-off single parent households. still, they slowly grew closer over the years after being enrolled in the same school and an incident involving a bucket, two pounds of paint, and a pineapple no one speaks about.
