they've known each other since forever and are currently roommates in taeyoo house. both yeonjoo and inhye's parents were high school sweethearts,. but to be quite honest, said parents don't exactly get along. they've always pitted inhye and yeonjoo against each other, the rivalry going way back to when they themselves were kids fighting in auditions for their school productions. the saltiness and bitterness that they hold against each other from those high school shows is still prevelant today despite how friendly their daughters are with each other. the families do often do things together, though, showcasing their respective daughter as if she were a show pony with the mindset that she's better than the other. their parents are childish, really. their conversations usually go like: "oh, yeonjoo was the lead in last year's production of romeo and juliet!" "yeah, well inhye's been chosen to participate in an end of year show that people all over the world will be watching!" to this, both girls will just roll their eyes. their pretty used to it and always hope that someday their parents will get along with each other.

jeong songbin and kim yehyun are dead set on their daughter following in their footsteps and becoming an actress herself. it's always been that way and from the moment she was born, she was exposed to the flashing lights of cameras. from being the child actor for jeon jihyun to modelling for clothing brands, inhye's done it all. her parents want her to get a solid education and finish university before getting proper acting jobs as the lead and whatnot. they're very competitive, with yeonjoo being inhye's biggest rival. essentially, they're controlling their daughter's life. if it's about anything other than the performing arts, they don't want to hear it. they believe they're providing the daughter with all the best things that the world can offer but they don't actually know that their true interests lie within biochemistry and the sciences. anything that inhye does that even remotely interferes with her potential acting career, songbin and yehyun are on her case and ready to reprimand her. she's not allowed at parties or anything, either, for fear that she'll do something stupid and sometime down the track, it'll come back to bite her in the back.

residence. taeyoo house with roommate choi yeonjoo. it was easier than expected to get her parents to agree to this dorm arrangement. they wanted inhye to board but didn't want to give her her own room, nor did they want their daughter to share with a stranger. it was the same with yeonjoo and her parents, so the two became roommates.

acting. jeong inhye's parents are pretty famous actors, and inhye herself has had several small acting jobs. nothing to make her super well known, though, and her parents would really like for her to get properly educated before really dumping her head first into the entertainment industry (though they've kind of already done that). she's recognised amongst her parents' closest colleagues/rivals.

what are your thoughts on being chosen to participate in the end of year show? it's okay, you can be honest. she shifts slightly. barely noticeable but you can tell that she's not exactly comfortable. instantly, she plasters a smile on her face. my parents are happy about it. they've been gloating since the moment i told them to yeonjoo's parents. they say that it'll be good for my near future as an actress. the interviewer chooses not to point out that the actual question was asking for her own thoughts, not her parents'.
please be completely honest here. do you think that you fit into society? the fake smile appears on her face again. before she even opens , the interviewer cuts in. your parents won't see this interview, don't worry. inhye freezes for a little while. the interviewer waits with patience, observing the panic that flits across her face before a sense of calm settles over her. inhye takes a deep breath. ...i don't really feel like i fit in.
do you want to fit in? ...yes i do. she cracks. i just want to live a normal life like everyone else but my parents desperately want me to do exactly as they say! i can't have fun with everybody and i don't even want to be an actress! everyone puts so much pressure on me, saying that my parents are so talented and successful so i'll just be like them. i get treated with such delicacy and people are never completely comfortable around me in fear that somehow they'll get punished. by what? i have no idea! i have no power! i'm just a normal human like them. inhye takes a deep breath. i don't want the spotlight on me.
alright. thank you for your time. this entire interview will be kept confidential, so don't worry. she composes herself, straightening her shirt and fiddles around with her hair momentarily. are you sure my parents definitely won't see this? the interviewer nods. inhye bows t-thank you. she leaves the room.
