SONG

lana

NICKNAMES:

◉ LaLa - During her first trip to Korea when she was eight years old, one of Lana's cousins had mispronounced her name as "LaLa" and it ended up sticking with her after she left back to Canada.

LANGUAGE SPOKEN:

◉English - Native Tongue - This was the main language of choice in her home when she lived in Canada                         ◉ Korean - Mostly Fluent - Her parents had also spoken Korean at home as well, although not as frequently as English. Lana is comfortable speaking in Korean, she'll just stumble at times with her words if it's something she doesn't know how to explain well.
◉ French - Conversational - Growing up in a part of Canada where the presence of the French is prevalent, Lana had picked up enough of it to be able to speak with shop owners or to order at restaurants.

APPEARANCE:

◉ With a small stature and softened features, Lana has an almost angelic aura enveloping her. She keeps a very strict skincare regimen in order to keep her skin appearing youthful - while she is only sixteen years old, Lana supplies herself with several different anti-aging products as a preemptive measure to combat any damage to her skin. Her eyes are both dark and alluring yet soft and inviting. While she plays off as a perfect doll, Lana does have a few imperfections that she hides to the best of her ability: she has a small scar on her forehead from running into a dresser at a young age, which is why she wears her bangs down always. Whenever she scratches herself, the first thing she applies is a concealing makeup rather than a band-aid. Gotta keep those marks covered up!

FASHION:

Lana's style generally falls between brightly youthful and alluring mature. Her eccentric style comes from her childhood desire to be noticed by everyone. Some of her outfits are terribly uncomfortable, but she pushes aside the discomfort in the name of fashion. While her clothing style tends to be spread throughout the spectrum, Lana's makeup is for the most part simple. Her eyeliner is the most elaborate piece that goes on, but other than that, she tends to avoid caking on makeup as it leaves her skin oily.

◉ Casual: 1 2 3 4 5

◉ Formal: 1 2 3 4 5

◉ Practice: 1 2 3 4 5

With a smile that could light up any room, Lana is living proof that looks are deceiving. She has a cookie cutter smile with a switchblade attitude - she'll do anything to get on top, and you won't know if you're on her list because of her pretty little smile.

PERSONALITY TRAITS: (+) Observant, Hard-Working, Bold, Persistent, Communicative, Careful, Thoughtful (+) / (n) Independent, Questioning, Ambitious, Competitive, Elaborate (n) / (-) Self-Confident, Deceptive, Cunning, Insincere, Scheming, Fake (-)
PERSONALITY:

Lana is a girl who desires the spotlight regardless of the cost it takes to actually earn it. Her personality is based around the fact that she is the "perfect girl" to the public eye, yet once the cameras are turned away from her, her true darkness can no longer be hidden behind the pristine mask she puts on for everyone. At one point there was a genuine sweetness within the girl. She was not a manipulative, self-absorbed wannabe when she was a young girl - it all began to change once everyone began to feed her the idea that she was the best at everything she did. Once that idea had been planted in her soul, it quickly corrupted Lana and stamped out all the sincerity she once had. However, that part of her was not completely shut out as she continued to grow.

She kept her pristine good-girl persona out for general interactions. Lana would make sure to gush just a little bit more whenever she knew people were listening, she'd compliment people just at the right time when others were watching, and even random acts of kindness were taken solely when a decent-sized crowd would be able to see what she was doing. By all means one could describe the girl's sweet demeanor as a two-thousand dollar bill: by all means was it gorgeous to think about and see for yourself, but the truth behind it is that it's simply a fake knock-off meant to only look good on the outside.

There are very few times where Lana will actually act out with no ulterior motive to support herself. Only when someone genuinely needs help and a part of her feels bad does Lana actually step forward to do something good - these moments are, of course, far and few between though. Especially so after she had entered the pool of trainees at Pledis and knew that anyone else's failures would be an opportunity for her to not only succeed, but to excel at what she's doing. At the end of the day, her only true focus is on snatching the first chance she has at debuting, no matter how ruthless she has to be to get it.

BACKGROUND:

Starting from humble beginning, Lana Song was born in Victoria, Canada to co-owners of a small bakery. From a young age the girl reveled being at the center of attention for everyone within her family. Being both the first-born in her own family and the only child as well had its perks growing up; she never had to compete with another sibling for her parent's attention, not did she have to fight for financial payment whenever she wanted something. It was a lonely childhood at times, yes, but Lana did not mind it, for she had the attention from others to keep her entertained. Once she had became old enough to express her talents more freely, the girl took every opportunity to do so in order for even more people to watch her in amazement.

She began small, singing at family reunions or belting out little tunes in the shower. It wasn't until Lana entered elementary school that her true star potential would come out. Chorus class was by far her favorite day of the week, and with each lesson she learned something new about her young voice - priming from her teacher helped the young girl not only build a solid base for her vocals to flourish with later on, but it had also set Lana up to be one of the stronger voices during her many chorus concerts that were sprinkled throughout the year. In later years, particularly in middle school, the young girl was drawn to participating in every single talent show held at her school. Lana was lucky enough to even be placed first in one of them, although during her eighth grade talent show awards were canceled altogether due to some students feeling that giving out scores for the talents they loved to do was "cruel" and "not right" - a sentiment that Lana did not agree with at all.

Her interest in becoming an entertainer grew just a little bit more each time she visited her aunts and uncles in Korea, where the flashy performance stages and catchy songs caught her attention. Lana's desire for the idol life increased ten-fold when her parents had sold their business in Victoria and relocate to Jamsil, a neighborhood located within Seoul. There they had revived their bakery and enrolled Lana in a private school, yet all she could focus on was the fact that fame had become that much more attainable.

It all eventually ed when she was scouted by a talent agent whilst shopping in Myeongdong. She was a fresh-faced teen who was noticed for her beautiful features, which landed her the opportunity to enter Pledis as a model. The experience was quite fun, although it quickly ended once a manager within the company recommended that her career path be focused on the performance stage rather than being stuck in front of a camera lens. And in that moment Lana knew that she was finally taking the first steps towards achieving her dream of stardom.

◉ Using baby-talk with any kind of animal.

◉ Prepping outfits for just about every occassion.

TRIVIA:

◉ Despite living in one of the more mountainous areas in Canada, Lana has never gone snowboarding or skiing before.                                                                                                   ◉ She has never traveled to the US even though she lived right by the border.

◉ Lana is terrified of bugs to a point where she will start to cry if one gets too close to her, particularly if it's a spider or beetle of any kind.

RELATIONSHIPS:

◉ Mother - Justine Song (48) / cafe co-owner / observant, opaque, silent / Lana and her mother have a very cliche mother-daughter relationship with one another. They are perfectly fine with one another, yet there are days where Justine's unreadable expressions drive her daughter nuts as she attempts to decode what her mother truly means. While their relationship becomes strained at times, she is the parent Lana often runs to if she ever needs advice on just about anything. There's an unspoken trust they hold between one another to not discuss anything private to Lana's father whenever she does need to speak to her mother.

◉ Father - Song Jae Min (47) / cafe co-owner / eccentric, quirky, defiant / While Lana heads to her mother almost exclusively for advice, she heads to her father every time she needs a smile to be put on her face. He understands exactly what it is that makes his little girl happy - she does become embarrassed sometimes when his personality obnoxiously shines out in public. However, despite his over-the-top demeanor, Lana appreciates it and wouldn't want her father to change ever.

◉ "Brother" - Kimchi (3) / pomeranian / excitable, diva, reactive / Kimchi is Lana's puppy who she loves with all of her heart! He's the closest thing that she has to a sibling, although with the way her father treats him there are days where she thinks of him as an actual human baby.

why do you think you were chosen for paradox/How did you find out about the show?:

◉ I'm not surprised I was chosen to be a part of the show. I'm still very young in age, my current skill level is quite well despite such a short length of being a trainee, and I have enough potential to put myself out there as a force of talent. Not to toot my own horn or anything! My talent is just undeniable and whoever noticed that - whether it be the producers of the show or one of the higher-ups in the company - put me in this position for a reason. They saw that I'm ready to be a star!

And as far as the show goes, a few of the manager-oppas were talking about it one day inside of the training building. Of course my natural desire for fame and fortune got the better of me so I walked up to them, flashed a little charm in their faces for some more information, and now I'm here.

what do you think is your advantage over the other trainees? What do you excel at/Main Talent? What area are you lacking?:

◉ Honestly, I feel like my people skills are what put me above the others. To have a successful debut, one must articulate yourself in a way that appeals to people of all different walks of life - a lot of the girls just think of showing one good side to the public will be enough, but to survive in this industry you need to show so much more than that. I can bring aegyo, I can bring sass, I can bring laughs, I can bring all these different sides to the table that I know the public will be interested in seeing.

As far as what my main talent is, well, I consider my vocals to be my strongest asset. I'm getting better with choreography as the days go by, but no one is perfect. I could work on the composition of my voice, my footwork is sometimes sloppy, elongating my notes is sometimes difficult, so like I said, no one is perfect. However, even though I do need to work on these things, I still find myself to be one of the stronger trainees.

Do you have any previous experience? (Where you involved with another show, modeling, solo act, etc.):

◉ Originally I was scouted by Pledis to become a model, and in that period of time I was given various opportunities to show off my visual skills. While most of my photos were scrapped in final cuts, I was lucky enough to be a part of a school uniform campaign with my Seventeen-sunbaenims. It was a very great opportunity and I hope to work with them again in the future to better my current skill set! I'm not sure if this counts as experience, but I also participated in a few talent shows when I went to school in Canada.

Why do you want to be an idol? Do you think you're prepared to take on this huge responsibility?:

◉ This is going to sound cliche, but becoming an idol is just my dream. Being on a large stage, performing my heart out, having crowds of screaming fans cheer me on - just thinking about it gives me goosebumps! In terms of preperation for becoming an idol, well, I've been ready for it since I was able to say my first few words. I know what I look up to in terms of positive role models who are also idols, so I'm prepared to emulate those attributes so other young girls can look up to me.

What is your main concern/worries about being apart of paradox?:

◉ Honestly, my only fear is just not being able to debut. I understand that I'm young and in theory should be shelved behind others who have trained longer than I have, but I'm hungry for this opportunity and want to debut now! Failing to make it into the final group would be devastating, especially so over life television; other than that though, I'm not afraid of anything else that involves Paradox. Bring on the challenges because I'm ready!

is there anything you'd like to say to the viewers?:

◉ Aish~! Please watch me diligently over the next few weeks of competition. I'd like to show you all what I'm capable of, so please make sure to vote every week so I can reveal a brand new side of myself. Get ready to await my debut because I refuse to go home with nothing less than a spot within the group!

training/Idol Life

Stage Name::

◉ LaLa

Trainee Years:

◉ 6 months

Trainee life:

◉ During a shopping trip in the heart of Seoul, Lana was scouted by a talent agent from Pledis due to her visuals. Her parents remained supportive of her endeavors despite some initial apprehension with the numerous contracts that needed to be signed. Nonetheless, Lana's first few weeks under the company were spent shadowing her seniors whenever they went off to photo shoots or cf filmings. It wasn't until one of her manager's discovered her vocal abilities by hearing her "jokingly" singing a song on set with others that she was placed into training to become an idol. The transition was a bit rocky at first, but once she had found her footing, Lana blended well into the trainee-idol life. She attempted to socialize well enough with most of the other trainees; the secrets she was told in confidence by them were tucked away in the recesses of her mind, ready to be pulled out in a moment's notice in case she ever needed the upper hand. Her keen sense of following direction made her a quick follower to any new vocal techniques or choreography taught - Lana would also to use this to her advantage by helping those in need as best as she could. The better her image looked to those watching, the more likely she'd be fast-tracked into debuting.

Main talent(s):

◉ Her vocals. She considers herself to be a strong vocalist, but Lana is aware that there are others who are capable of doing more than herself.

strengths:

◉ Following instructions or techniques in song/dance.

◉ Being persistent enough to try something multiple times if she does get it wrong without it affecting her morale.

weaknesses:

◉ Freestyling dance or song - unless she has practice beforehand on what she's going to do, she avoids this at all cost.

◉ Controlling whether she wants to show off all she's capable of doing versus toning it down and helping others to boost her "image".

talent twins (Include backups):

◉ Vocal:; Gowoon - Berry Good / *Seunghee - CLC

◉ Variety:; Minah - Girls' Day / *Sooyoung - Girls' Generation

previous experiences & SCandals :

◉ She was able to take part in a pictorial with members of Seventeen.

LEE CHAN / DINO (SEVENTEEN)

kim jong hyun / jr (nu'est)

PERSONALITY:

◉ Dino is an energetic ball of resiliance and creativity. He is starting to grow up from the adorable maknae of Seventeen that many had seen him as when they had first debuted; while he is fun-loving and knows how to have a good time, he knows his limits and when it's time to get serious. He also has a small temper in him that's rarely seen - Dino only ever lets it out if it's a situation that involved someone he truly cares about.

LOVE STORY:

◉ During her short time focused on becoming a model, Lana was lucky enough to meet the members of Seventeen on the set of a pictorial. While there were opportunities to speak to all of the members, it was Dino that stuck out to her the most - he brought out a part of Lana that she usually kept hidden. After being inseparable for their first meeting, the two exchanged contact information and would talk over SNS whenever they could.

STATUS: Currently in contact with one another. They have a friendly relationship with the occasional comment or gesture that implies feelings.
ENDING: While the feelings are obvious between the two, after the "bad side" of Lana is revealed throughout the show, it'll put a strain on their relationship. Despite a few rocky arguments and one particularly nasty run-in that leads to their separation for a period of time, the two eventually reconcile with one another and start to date. However, there are reservations on Dino's part and he does try to push Lana to be the person he knows her as versus the bad persona she puts out there.

LAST COMMENT: I haven't written an app for an apply fic in a very long time, so hopefully Lana is actually good! I tried doing something different with her and almost gave her a "villain" type of persona just to throw a little curve ball out there. Thank you for reading and considering her! Oh, also, I hate writing personality sections so sorry if it's terrible!

SCENE REQUEST:

◉ What I'm hoping for is one scene with a lot of tense interactions between the girls, lots of drama, lots of cattiness, maybe even a little bit of tears as well?

◉ A cameo from a few of the artists under Pledis, if not all of them! *cough* especially Seventeen *cough* OTL
