Racism in KPOP fans?

Okay, so I was YouTube surfing looking for English cover songs of KPOP idols; you know I have a thrill of happiness seeing these talented Korean singers lend their voices to songs I understand. I feel like I can connect with them a little more. I mean, singing a song in a different language is not easy especially if you can't speak it. (Suho, Chanyeol, Baekhyun, and D.O. I'm looking at you. You singing Sabor A Mi... OMG I can die in peace now.) Anyway, I stumbled across Jungkook's version of We Don't Talk Anymore and THEN another video that blended Jungkook's cover with Selena (who sings it with the original singer) as a duet. I loved it, of course. I thought it was great MASH UP.

I go to the comments and see some people shipping Jungkook and Selena. I laugh and keep scrolling. Harmless shipping, right? Yet, the most upvoted comments (like 1k likes and UP) are things like: "Stop shipping these two, that's wrong!" "Please stop shipping them. Just stop." WHHHHAT?!

So okay, shipping two straight KPOP males/females right, but shipping an international girl with a Korean idol wrong? Are you kidding me? The arguements presented are ridicuolus: "Because she's a Disney star." Okay, you, listen to me. It's FORMER Disney star. Okay, Sel moved on from that chapter of her life. At first I thought it was because it was a straight pairing and some fans are so delusional a simple glance of their OTP equals "real." Then it became clear: it's because she's an American star. I'm not exaggerating, that's what they replied to me when I expressed my disgust.

I saw an OBAMA and Taemin story be featured once in this website, damn it. Of course it's a little... different, but it's harmless. It doesn't bother me that they don't like the fact it's heteroual pairing, that's not new at all so I'm over that, but that it's an pairing.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but ITS 2017! If one day a KPOP idol wants to date a non Korean person so be it. I'm not even into the whole shipping that much, heck, I'm not familiar with Jungkook and not a die-hard Selenator, but c'mon. Loosened up and be more open-minded. Ironic, right? Asking KPOP FANS TO BE MORE OPEN-MINDED. Pfft.

Regardless, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Drop a comment and please keep it civilized whether you agree with me or not. Sorry for my rant; racism just makes me so angry. Like Jessica said: We are always one!

Here is the video if you haven't watched it. It's good and I haven't stopped listening to it. It'd really be cool if an American collaborated with my KPOP idols more. We need more bridges and less walls (no, not a Trump joke, I'm serious) with one another. We are stronger together. <3
