PERSONALITY

On the outside, she looks exactly what people would call mary-sue. Other than her pretty looks, people often thought she is plain and boring. Seul doesn't really care actually. For her, it was less people to deal with. But once you get to know her, you know she is not an ordinary high-school girl. No normal high-school will daydreaming excessively about people who were already dead centuries ago. (Seo always fascinated with history so she always dreaming to time travel to the past).

She always had this 'bored' looks on her face. She doesn't think her life is fascinated enough (thanks to bunch of novels and manhwas that she been reading since she was a child.) Because of her odd behaviour, people often calling her 'weirdo'. But Seul doesn't mind, in fact she likes it because for her it set apart herself from her peers that just living a normal life. Seul craves adventures that will make her heart races, stomache churned and teary-eyes. She doesn't want to lead a normal life. She wanted to be different than the others although on the outside she just looks the same. That's why she lead a second life as a cosplayer. No one from her school knows about this and she intend it to be that way forever.

Other than cosplay, she is really into history especially during Victorian Era. She often dreaming to travel back to that period so she can try to live as an English woman. She wanted to experience social debut, mingle with gentlemen over party, take a stroll along an beautiful park,meeting nobleman and royalty and also wanted to live in a mansion! She even has this unrealistic ambition where she wants to marry a prince in real life. She planned to travel to every country that still have royal family and seduces the prince because if she is lucky, her plan might work and she finally will marry a royal prince! XD

SCHOOL_LIFE

Teachers regard her as a good student. She also the President of the Literature Club. She is a student that never give them headaches well except her Mathematics teacher. Her grade is slightly above average but not excellent. She can never place as top student in the school. Why? Because she hates Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and all the subjects that related to counting. When she was in elementary, she still okay with Maths, not good but she's still trying. But later when alphabet was introduce alongside with numbers, Seul just gave up. She doesn’t even trying to answer properly. This gives headache to her Maths teacher because she realized Seul's potential but Seul is just lazy to work on it. To make up for her weaknesses in Math, Seul take interest in history, literatures and English and she excels in it by using her 'photographic memory'. All she has to do is remember the facts.

She doesn't have many friends. Only a few that including her club members. At first, boys interested in knowing her but after they realized she is a bit weird (who the hell can space out and drooling while talking with others? btw, she was day-dreaming obviously), all boys start to back off. Only few friends stayed despite her peculiar behaviour. One of them is Seo Ddal. They are not close but it seems they understand each other.

She is famous, not because of her tall and pretty figure but because she is odd. Her peers don't even know her actual name and sometimes just call her 'Facebook Girl' or 'The Stoner', more often The Stoner. But she doesn't really care but she was already in deep in her own world to care about others calling her names. Her classmates don't think much of her other than she always with a book and will randomly spaced out. Sometimes people seeked for her help about History and Literature subjects and she will taught them without any prejudice. (Except for bullies because she hates bullies).

LIFE_STYLE

She lives alone in her parent's apartment. (Her father is working on another place, far from Seoul and her mother followed her father). Her older sister is futhering her study in Japan.

Seul has a BIG secret where she likes to cosplay as a princess and also likes to dress up as an English woman in Victorian Era. This is all started when she watched anime called 'Candy Candy'. She fell in love with Terry, the male lead in Candy. She always day-dreaming to be like Candy who Seul thinks had an exciting life. (Candy did not live an exciting life, more tragic to be precise). Seul always dreaming that she will meet her own 'Terry' one day. She even dream to have a love relationship that will be full of tears like in 'Candy'. She is also a fan of Disney movies, fairytale books (international and local stories), and tragic love story like Romeo and Juliette. She is active online where she is one of the moderators of a famous cosplayer website. The website seldom organized Cosplayer Day Out on weekeends. With her tall figure and pretty looks, she is quite popular among other cosplayer who thinks that she looks like a real princess.

Because of her parents sending her money every month, she didn't need much money. But as the costumes sold online getting expensive, she had no choice than to look for part-time job to gain extra money. Her neighbour, Mrs Kim heard about it and asked Seul to tutor her son in English subject. Now Seul is working as English tutor for 2 neighbour kids.

RELATIONSHIPS At Busan, she used to live with her grandmother. Her parents faced some difficulties with money when they had her and they had no choice than send her to her father's hometown when she was a toddler. She grew up with her grandma ever since she was little. Her gradnfater already died before she was born. She closer with her grandmother than her parents. She even called her gradnma 'mother'. But when she was 15, her grandma died leaving her devastated. She wanted to continue live in Busan but her parents insisted that she come back and live with them because they feel sorry for leaving Seul there when she was little. Also because now her family money situation is getting better and they finally got their own home. At Seoul, Seul still not used to live with her own family, she even feels awkward to call them 'mother' and 'father'. She still trying to adjust living with her family members. When Seul was 17 years old, her father got a promotion and required him to move to another state. Her parents worried because if her father take it, they have to leave Seul alone again (Seul have an older sister but she studied overseas). Seul said she will be alright living alone and asked them to take the offer.

Byul is Seul only sibling. Because Seul lived with grandma ever since she's a toddler, she still having difficulties to get close with her parents and her older sister. There still some awkward moment between them all. But Byul tries very hard to close the gap between her family and her younger sister. She really cares about Seul though they haven't spend much time together. Seul likes Byul and she really looks up on her sister. Byul has this motherly affection plus she is smart. Byul really worried when she learned that Seul has to live alone and she feels sorry because she can't accompany Seul because she is in Japan. When Al suddenly become 'alive', Seul immediately seeked help from Byul as her sister is the first person she can think of. Seul contacted Byul through Skype and explained what happened. At first, Byul thought Seul just day-dreaming again but she actually saw Al through the webcam, she finally trusted Seul's story. Byul promised that she will help Seul in finding ways to help Al back in his manhwa. (But she still worries that in fact a man will has to live with her sister!)

"Woah! He is actually real?!! Wait, this not a camera trick right?" Byul confused when he saw Al through the webcam on Seul's side.

Seo Ddal (18), high school student

Truthfully Seul doesn’t think much about anybody in her school because she always busy day-dreaming. Her first thought about Ddal is someone who looks happy always. When Ddal asked her to be one of the judges for writing contest organized by the school newspaper, Seul just accepted it without much thinking. Ddal and Seul have to work together and somehow they got close. Ddal is usually very cheerful person and is so nice to actually take interest with Seul random babbles. Ddal doesn’t thinks Seul is weird (okay, maybe a little) but she did think Seul is a very interesting person and funny as well! Because Ddal is a writer, she looks up with Seul's knowledge in literature. She also amazed by Seul's ability to memorized every single word from a book. She doesn't really mind when Seul suddenly spaced out while talking to her. She just wait until Seul is back to reality and then continue chatting.

"Are you finish with that cake?" Ddal asked when she saw Seul suddenly went into 'day-dreaming mode' while eating her dessert.

Hwang Nari (18), high school student

Nari is not really a fan of Seul at first. Nari just thinks Seul is too weird for her to handle. She already has to face Ddal who always bubbly and cute so she doesn’t really want to do anything with a girl who can suddenly zoned out in the middle of talking. But after seeing Ddal get along with Seul, Nari thoughts of Seul slowly changes. They are still not close but they are not awkward with each other anymore. But she still hates when Seul suddenly will throw random facts, lines and quotes out from her favourite books.

Moon Bin (18), high school student??

Moon Bin is really taken aback by Seul's peculiarness and always advised Ddal to stay away from Seul. Even a manhwa's character think Seul is just too weird to be true! Not to mention when Seul suddenly can change topic that unrelated at all. For once, Moon Bin agrees with Nari that Seul is just too weird for him to handle.

Moon Bin whispered through Ddal's left ear, "Is she dead?" when he finally saw Seul infamous 'day-dreaming mode' while talking to them.

Kim Rowoon (19), gangster??

Rowoon indeed thinks that Seul is odd but he also find her funny sometimes. Guess that Rowoon has a weird sense of humour. He doesn't mind Nari befriend Seul though he thought Nari and Seul could never be close because they just too different person to begin with.

"Pffttt.. hahaha!" Rowoon suddenly laughed when Seul blurted out random facts about how cheese was made when Nari talked about her craving to eat her mother's cheesecakes. Nari immediately glared at Rowoon and he finally stopped laughing.

ELABORATION

Alistair is nice in nature. Probably because he grew up with his mother, he really respects woman. He is also protective and will try to help any woman in need. Some people might viewed him as a womanizer but he just wanted to give a hand. He did not have any hidden agenda what-so-ever. His mother was a geisha and people often thought them as a e when actually they are just perfomers that entertained others. Alistair hates when people prejudiced toward the geisha community.

Al did not live an easy life, he is an illegimate child and was born before her mother was married. People looked down on him and his mother yet his mother always adviced him not to hate them. His mother always said that not one person is born to be evil. They just mould by society and their surroundings. His mother taught him to be forgiveful and look on the bright side rather focusing on hating people.

Because of that, Alistair grows up to be a pacifist. He did not like violence. However. if he was faced in certain situation where some action had to be taken, he will do it.

FIRST_MEETING

Seul just received her package from the deliveryman and immediately opened it. It was a new Victorian custome dress she bought online. She quickly changed to the new costume and suddenly she heard someone said "Emma?"

Seul turned her body and saw a handsome man staring intently at her. However his eyes looked so sorrow upon seeing her, almost teary. Seul freaked out and screamed because she thought an intruder just broke into her house. That man also surprised when he realized he was in place he never been and Seul was not the person he thought would be.

But Alistair calmed her down, saying he did not mean any harm and he was just confused as she was. Alistair introduced himself and suddenly Seul remembered about the manhwa that she stealed. Nobody will accidentally has same name with him. She quickly ran into her room and grabbed the manhwa from the bookcase. She flipped the pages, scanning through the drawing and realized this was indeed not a dream and Alistair from the manhwa she's holding just popped out from the book!

INTERACTIONS

At first, Seul was so confused with the situation. She cannot grasped the situation where Alistair is now a real human. She still having hard time to process inside her brain. She even thought she finally went mad after over-excessive day-dreaming that she had every day.

Alistair was also confused but upon seeing Seul anxiousness, he promised to her that he won't do any bad things on her. After few days, Seul can finally accepted whole situation where she now has to live with a man that came from manwha and also has to help him go back in his book.

So, their life to live together begin. Seul having some difficulties hiding Al from her nighbours because he stands out too much. She just lied that Alistair is her English tutor. Seul warned Al not to go out too much and avoid meeting her neighbour because she doesn't want people to find out she lives with a man! Luckily her parents only called her and haven't found the time to go back Seoul in the time being

For Alistair, he likes talking with Seul. Her wide knowledge about his era impressed him so much. Seul also patiently taught him everything about her era and also taught him how to use all these sophisticated things like rice cooker, microwave oven, washing machine, etc and even TV. He had to learn all of this otherwise he could burned down her house by just simply trying to use the stove.

Seul taught Alistair to use computer as well. So while Seul was teaching him, her phone ringed and Seul quickly went to pick up. Alistair wanted to apply what he learned and starting to type something on her computer. After few clicks, suddenly there this loud voices and moan can be heard coming out form the computer speaker. Seul was shocked and went fast to see what happened. It seemed Alistair clicked a advertisement and a video automatically played. Seul shrieked and closed her eyes when she saw the video. Alistair panicked and tryng to click everywhere but more videos just popped out. Seul quickly closed the browser and all the videos closed as well. Seul face was red and Alistair apologized many times after that. Let say they both didn't talk much that day XD

One day, it was raining heavily outside and thunders and lightning started to strike. Seul become afraid and quickly went inside her room to put on her mp3 player. In the midst of finding her mp3 player, Seul stepped on the earphone. In chaos, she scavaged her room to find another one. Her room become messy. A loud thunder suddenly striked, making Seul screamed her lungs out. Alistair quickly ran inside Seul's room to see that poor girl already crouching on the floor while close her ears. Alistaor shocked shen seeing her room was a mess. Seul screamed again when the loud thunder hit once more. Alistair immediately hugged Seul and calmed her down saying everything will be alright. He then started to sing a Japanese song that his mother taught. He rocked his body with Seul in his arms. His voice soothed Seul and she fell asleep in his arms.

HISTORY

Al helped Seul with chores because he feel obliged to do something for her. He become over-protective towards Seul and totally act like her butler. Seul doesn't really like at first thinking Alistair is just trying to mock her hobbies and interests (after knowing she's into cosplay and Victorian era story). However after she learned that Alistair is being sincere, she can finally accept it and sometimes play along in being his mistress and treats him as her butler! But don't worry, nobody were harm and Alistair just glad that Seul finally accepted his gestures.

Seul knows Alistair story because she finished reading the manhwa. She feels sorry for him and wanted him to talk out his feelings but Al doesn't really talk much about his story. Though he feel at ease when Seul comforted him saying she knew how it feel to lose someone so close to use, referring to her grandmother who she always considered as her mother.

Seul doesn't know when she started to fall for Alistair. At first, she just thought she probably admired him because he from a world that Seul wanted to be. But she saw Al speaking and being with other girl, she started to feel jealous. She wanted to make Al belongs to her only. However she also knows that Al is in love with somebody else. Al's love for Emma is so deep that in his manhwa, he even swore to never love again. Seul knew that she could never beat Emma and after Alistair back into his manhwa, she will be left alone. Seul tried very hard to show her true feelings to Alistair. She also doesn't want to trouble the man. Alistair is really nice man, he might accepted Seul feelings out of courtesy, not because he loves her.

ENDING

Seul knows that she can't compete with Emma even though that girl was already passed away (and not to mention fictional as well!) She respects Alistair's love toward his deceased lover. Though it is all just a fiction but for Alistair, it is real.

After some times, Al realized Seul's feelings toward him but he is not sure if he is still capable to be in love again. He is afraid because it seems everything that he ever love will eventually leave him one day.

Seul wants to help Alistair to get back into his manhwa but after a while, Alistair suddenly said he doesn't want to go back. There is no good memories left for him in his fictional world. He remembered Emma asked him to go travel far away and he thought this is maybe his destiny. Alistair said he will moved out from this house and will learn to live in this world. Seul offered her help but Alistair refused, thinking he already troubled Seul so much. Seul misunderstood his gestures and thought Al doesn't want to do anything with her anymore.

Hurt by it, Seul decided to never contact him. She moved on with her life though still constantly thought about him. She excelled in the university entrance examination and was offered a scholarship to continue her study in University or Warwick in United Kingdom, majoring in English Literature. She accepted it, thinking this might be the best way to forget about Alistair. After few years passed by, Seul finally back to Korea after finishes her masters. She was offered to be an English professor at local university while continuing her PhD in the same university.

Seul tried to find Alistair, wondering how is his life after trying to live in her world. She fell sorry for leaving him just like that. She can' back to her old house because her parents already sold the apartment and bought another house in another place. One day, Seul met her old neighbour, Mrs. Kim who Seul once tutored his son. Mrs.Kim suddenly spoked about Alistair, the English tutor that she thought he was. She said that Al still teaches kids around her old neighbourhood. He also taught his son (the same kid Seul tutored) English right now at an Academy. Seul quickly went to search for him at the place that Mrs.Kim mentioned. There Seul saw Alistair was standing in front of the academy bulding. When Seul saw him for the first time after years, her tears just streamed down without she noticed it because her heart knows how much Seul misses Alistair. Suddenly she saw a woman holding a baby and then passed the baby towards Alistair. Seul's heart was heartbroken again. She was too late for everything. Seul tried to leave without greeting him but Mrs.Kim's son who just coming out the building saw her and called her name. Alistair shocked upon hearing the name that he longed. They meet, Seul said congratulations to Al because he finally settled down. Alistair laughed saying that baby was not his. It was belong to a mother who send her kid to academy where he was teaching. Seul feel embarassed with her conclusion.

They got close again. Alistair told Seul that after she gone, Alistair just realized how much he longed for her. But he doesn't want to bother Seul with her study. Seul also apologized for not helping him in trying to suit himself in this world. They got married and they eventually bought back Seul's old apartment and live there. They got a boy and girl as a twin. They finally live happily ever after, just like fairytale Seul always dreaming about.

TRIVIAS

Alistair manhwa's plotline:

In Al's manhwa, he is an illegitimate child between a Japanese geisha and a British officer. His mother Jun Takako fell in love with William Howard, a well-known British army officer and they had secret affair even though William was already married. When her mother had him, she gave him an English name. Because of that, Al was bullied ever since he was little; moreover he didn't look like normal Japanese boy would. He is using Jun as his surname, from her mother's surname but her mother always said that his real last name is Howard. Her mother can speak good English and taught him English as well. Alistair sometimes will work as translator for English tourists and army officers. When he was 18 years old, her mother died because of tuberculosis. Before Takako died, she asked Al to search for William, his biological father in United Kingdom.

He followed his mother wishes and travelled to United Kingdom. There he worked as a butler for Robinson's family, a wealthy family in the town while searching for his father. In that family, there this girl named Emma who catches Al's eyes. She was 2 years older than him. Of course, he knew he is just a butler. He did not dare to dream to get close to Emma who is also his mistress. However his gazes sometimes returned by the said girl. Turned out Emma has the mutual feelings as well. They somehow got close and their feelings towards each other grew stronger. While he working as butler, he still continue searching for his father. While gathering some information, he came across with shocking news. Turn out Emma is a daughter of William Howard. She was not from Robinson family. Meaning that Al is actually liked his own half-sister. Henry Robinson is best friend with William Howard. Because the nature of his job, William travels a lot. Emma's mother died when she was 11 years old, leaving her alone. Henry decided to take care of Emma to help his best friend. After knowing the truth, Al feels angry but also feels solemn because he knew he can never be with Emma because she was his older sister. Alistair told the news to Emma. They were both in despair after learning that they can never be together. But Al is content because at least he found a family member because he always thought he is alone in this world.

When Henry Robinson (head of the house) found out about Al feelings toward Emma, he was furious and immediately fired Al. Henry still didn’t know that Al is actually William’s son. Knowing his place, Al leaved the mansion and lived somewhere else. Despite that, Emma still was sending letters to him every month. Al finally got his hand busy in finding his father. Al determined to find his father and wanted to ask the truth. He went everywhere his father might be. After a year, he finally found his father. His father's job was to recruit new soldiers to join the army. Al joined it to get to know William better. He using fake name to register. William took a liking to Al because Al is a hardworking boy. They got close and after a while, Al told him the truth. William was so shocked after learning the truth because he doesn't even know about Al existence. It seems like Al's mother, Takako keep this a secret because she knows William has his own family. William feels sorry for neglecting Takako and Al. He really loves Takako and feels sad after he knew she was already dead. He promised to take care of him. Al then asked about Emma. William then told him that Emma was not his biological daughter. Emma's mother, Jane was married before. When Jane was pregnant, his husband Charles killed in a war. Feeling responsible as Charles was his best friend, William married Jane so that the child will have a father when she was born. William never told the truth to Emma because he always thought Emma as his real child.

Al was happy with this news and decided to meet Emma to clear up this misunderstanding. William, Al and Emma reunited but the happiness did not last long. Emma fell sick; she had the same disease as her mother. Al wanted to marry her but Emma refused knowing she won't last long. The doctor confirmed she only got half a year left. Al tries so much to make Emma happy. He swore he won't fall in love again but Emma hated when Al said that. Emma wanted Al to travel and find his happiness for the sake of her as well. Al never leaves her side until she breathed her last breath. Then he start to live a live a traveller, leaving all the sad memories behind and begin to start his journey...

His manhwa is originally written in Japanese. The original manga was cursed as well but was already destroyed. Someone (unknown) translated the manga into Korean because that person thought if it's in different language, it wont be cursed. That person was obviously wrong.
Byul tried to find about the original manga given that she lives in Japan for now. She found that the original author commited suicide after finished drawing the manga. He, the author was through a bad time after his spouse died of cancer. He dedicated the manga for his wife and promised to find her in next life.
Because of that Byul doesn't know where to ask about the curse/mystery that occured regarding Alistair's manhwa.

*Moon Bin and Nari got into a fight, Ddal and Rowoon tried hard to calm them down while Seul just stared at them without feeling guilty at all*

05. ARE YOU OKAY WITH HAVING A MANHWA CHARACTER AROUND YOU, OR DO YOU WANT THEM GONE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE?
