background : nam solbi is a full blooded korean. when she was 3, she already knew how to sing. she would always sing songs for her mother and perform little dances for her. they moved to troyes, champagne ardenne, france when her mother died of leukemia. solbi was only 5 that time while her sister, sorim, was 11 that time. her parents has a modelling agency in seoul but along their migration and her mother's death, solbi's father decided to move the agency to france too and rebrand the company. upon their move to france, she was also given the english name called sophie. their family is rich and well-off, and so solbi was treated like a princess and was taught on how to act like one. growing up in france was a bit hard for her, her father wanted them to adapt the country's tradition on how a lady should act; like the queen -gentle, maidenly, demure, and ladylike. but solbi was nothing like that. she has a more of modern-ish personality. but she did nevertheless because she loves her father and did not want him to get embarassed because of her. mr. nam missed his wife so much, he wanted solbi and sorim to follow the footsteps of their deceased mother. solbi's mom was a supermodel. it was fine for solbi's elder sister, since it was also her dream to walk the runway. but solbi wanted to be an idol -a celebrity/performer. despite her dream of becoming an idol instead, solbi just followed what her father wants her and her sister to do. she trained and had workshops as a model. she even had modelling gigs and runways in paris and bordeaux, france. when she turned 15, she finally told her father what she really wants. she did not get a positive reaction from her father and their relationship distanced a bit. she was about to hive up her dream of becoming an idol but then her father suddenly agreed and let her do what she wanted. she auditioned for sm entertainment online and ahe got in. solbi went back to korea alone. her father has asked eric nam, her cousin, to call and look after solbi for a while until she's secured. her father was the one who gave her financial support and constantly gives her money when she arrived in korea.

-Solbi was a model. In France, Solbi was trained to walk the runways and be a model when she was younger. It was her father's dream for her. He was the one who pushed Solbi to become one and so she was able to attend modelling gigs even in the US.
-Eric Nam is Solbi's elder cousin. They're very close and he's the reason why Solbi's was able to go back to Korea and do what she really wants. When they were younger, they used to dance and sing together and pretend like they're performing celebrities on stage.

DO YOU FEEL PRESSURED BY BEING THE VERY FIRST GROUP MADE BY SHINHWA AS A WHOLE?: Performing and inspiring people has really been my dream since I was young. And I think being an idol touches both. I only get to live this life once and I think doing what I love and living it is the only option for me. Years may pass but my eyes will never lose its sparkle when I'm performing.

why did you decide to become an idol?: Performing and inspiring people has really been my dream since I was young. And I think being an idol touches both. how do you feel about finally debuting?: My heart was pounding like crazy and I felt like crying but I was so happy. I know that finally being an idol is not all glam and sparkles, there's always a difficult side and I feel really nervous for that. I thought of stepping back but then that's an act of a coward and it would be such an impulsive action for me. And so I continued, and I think I made the right choice. One must work hard for this and I think we all did.

what was the hardest part about being a trainee?: i had to push my self to my limits. It felt like I was training and chasing after the prefection that I can not achieve. At times, when I listen to some news or scroll through some hot topics on the internet, I read about idols being bashed and I felt like crying and wanting to give them a hug and I thought that, that is not what they trained for. I felt like giving up on these times, especially when there are only a few people who supports you on this. But then, it's my dream. Being a trainee felt really difficult but with that difficulty, I feel a little satisfaction.

what is your ideal type?: My ideal type? I like someone who seems cold on the outside and likes making fun or having fun but is really warm and sweet on the inside or with the person he loves. Someone who is adventurous and is willing to try new things.

IS THERE ANY CONCEPT YOU WANT TO TRY OUT?: I'd love to try a superhero concept. It looks really cool and it seems like an out of the box idea for a theme.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SAY?: here. I am aware that I have a lot of flaws even though a lot of people would call me pretty and such, idols are humans too. And even though I'm a really fun person who loves to joke around and is someone who can easily be close with, I would just like to say that I am really a softie so that in the future, if people would see me be a bit emotional, they would not be surprised. I'll do my best and give back the love that I recieve from people.

She did not sneak out that night and has lessened out her snuck outs when the group debuted. Solbi is also not a party-goer.

solbi is friends with chanyeol and sehun always gets jelous with the both of them. he's protective to solbi. and solbi is caring for him in return. on shows, they are playful kids but on their photoshoots together, they both look really gorgeous and mature like a couple together due to their height and looks. it's a push and pull relationship for these two, but one cannot simply hide their feelings for each other.

password : I was really impressed with Meilin. I felt like if i meet meilin, i would like to befriend her. i also loved the fact that she is not the typical cutesy patootie female idol. her fondness of reading books is really cool and something that is not really typical for performers/idols nowadays. her realness and deep thinking is what i admire the most.
