Haneul was born in Tokyo in a mixed family, his mother was Korean while his father was Japanese. He grew up in Tokyo, being bullied in the kindergarten for being mixed, the reason for that was that the kids couldn’t understand the way of being mixed and their parents also felt it was okay to talk bad about the family. He learned Korean and Japanese to talk with his grandparents in the 2 countries, and the 2 couples spoiled him a lot by giving him toys yet he gave it to other families that needed the toys more than he did, let’s just say his mother told him that by doing good deeds made the world a much better place. In 2003 when he was 7 was he starting to standard dance and a year later he started at hiphop dance, he still dances both dance arts.

In 2005 when he started in an international middle school was his parents moving to akihabara where he saw a lot of girls walk towards a theater with a lot of boys and men following them with cameras and he wondered what they were where he later found out that they were singers, and in 2008 was he hearing about the kpop group girl’s generation from some classmates where he slowly became a fan, having it much easier than his classmates because he could understand the language as he have spoken it just as must as Japanese.

One day in May 2009, was he in a heated argument about becoming a professional dancer with his parents. It was even worse for him when his Japanese grandparents stood up for their son and his wife, while his Korean grandparents were on his side, so he ended up flying to Korea to stay with his Korean grandparents who supported him even though they told him that he needed to study harder than he ever had done for him to stay at them because they didn’t want someone who was on their lazy side. A year later after he had thought a lot about it he auditioned at humming bird entertainment with a dance he had made up himself and a bit hoarse vocal as he didn’t really sing before that day and he somehow got in, but it was mostly because of his dancing skills.

He trained for 2 years before debuting in DaKINGS but then trained again because of one member leaving. At that time did he start to exercise more and started to lose his baby fat on his body and gained more muscles, changing his body completely and his face went from slightly chubby to defined, surprising the fans of the group

Haneul auditioned at hummingbird ent, searching on naver for a small company as he didn’t want to be a part of the big 3 entertainments, when he was 14 with his dance a Sunday in august. When he auditioned was it the very first time he sang and sang false, but it wasn’t something he was prepared for, he had prepared for dancing, and well he got into the entertainment thanks to his dance. As he came home to tell his grandparents the new was they at first a bit skeptical but to be honest it was all an act they had and they broke into laughter because they thought his face was too funny, they told him he could be a trainee but in one condition, that was to study hard to he could get into university and not take a major in scene art or something like that but rather something that could help him if he decided it weren’t something for him and he agreed on that, because he had seen some band that just had debuted already disband in under a year.

The good thing was for Haneul is that his grandparents’ home is nearby the entertainment, so he could rush over to the entertainment right after school from his grandparent’s home leaving his stuff in his room and get his training clothes. When he trained was he bullied because the other trainees found out he was mixed blood, and mixed kids aren’t that accepted in the Korean society, but he kept training ignoring those who bullied him and became friends with some of the other trainees that were foreigners or not accepted by ‘the cool’ kids. He learned how to sing properly over a year but still had a bit of difficulties holding some of the notes, so every Sunday where it was the free day they got, were he at a vocal coach to help him improve more. His dance wasn’t bad but he learned more dance arts at the entertainment like popping and some others, he even helped the dance teachers when it was learning hiphop and he held some classes for fun with his friends, teaching them standard dance.

One day a couple months before he was chosen to be a part of DaPrince was he scolded by the dance teacher because he got slightly injured in his arm, it became good again a month later where he could move it without it hurt. His grandparents told him to relax a bit but he told them that the entertainment was preparing for a boy group and he needed to get a place in the lineup because who knew when the next time would be for him to be able to debut? He worked hard and when the male trainee’s was told who would be a part of the group was he found in the final line up, he was 16 at that time.
