♔ xiaolian's fashion would be best described as alternative mixed with a mature, yet punk look to it. she wears a lot of black and enjoys adding a dark look to her look. xiaolian has a tendency to wear ripped jeans, sweaters, and boots the most out of all of her clothing items. she rarely wears anything pastel unless it's for a stage outfit or an official event like an awards ceremony; where she has to match the others a bit more. xiaolian also loves leather jackets as well as hoodies, but mostly leather jackets are her go-to item. she enjoys chokers as well as wearing layered rings for a simple yet edgy look. other than chokers and rings, xiaolian also enjoys wearing face masks as well as snapbacks; for when she needs to hide her makeup-less face and bedhead.

» xiaolian is very well-known for being intelligent. she was the top of her class all throughout her education and still is very high up even in college now. she has always taken her education very seriously and never slacks off when there is work to do. she has been known to help the younger members with schoolwork from time to time but only when they beg because she doesn't particularly enjoy being around the new members. xiaolian is quite honest, never being one to tell a lie. she absolutely hates liars and can't stand it when people talk about things they don't know anything really about. she just can't stand it when people spread false lies and rumors, that some believe just because of how outrageous they are. she is one to speak her mind and will tell you how it is, no matter how harsh it could come across. xiaolian is also very charismatic and she is able to showcase her charisma easily on stage. she has a very intense look and is known for being the "y" member of chrysalis. she is very energetic and confident when on stage and doesn't let things get to her, not when she's on stage at least. she isn't one to stutter when speaking and is very good at speaking in front of crowds.

» although she's a wonderful girl, xiaolian has a lot of faults, one which includes her pessimistic nature. she is constantly, when she's not in front of fans, feeling as if everything is falling apart. she is easily able to fall into despair and struggles to keep her head above the big pool of depression that has become her life. she tends not be able to see the brighter side of things and lets a lot things affect her, like hurtful words or comments made about her. other than being a pessimist, xiaolian is very blunt which is seen through her honesty that she showcases frequently. she can be very hurtful with her words and will speak her mind, no matter how painful it may be for the reciever. she is often very mean to the newer members of chrysalis because she feels like they don't belong in the group. she will often say really hurtful things to not only them but even the original members at times. finally, xiaolian is quite aloof due to a scandal she suffered back in late 2013, but that's not the only reason she's become this way. her anti-social nature has come from when the other chrysalis members doubted her innocence in the whole scandal back then. it's made her not trust people as much and she also has a hard time keeping relationships because of the whole ordeal that has happened to her life.

» xiaolian was born in tianjin, china on december 5th, 1995 to her parents feng han and lin. she grew up as an only child and was spoiled immensely by her very well off parents. if there was something xiaolian wanted, she would recieve it almost instantly. though in order to achieve the things she wanted, xiaolian was pushed to be very successful and an overachiever of sorts. she focused completely on her studies, fighting her way to the top of her class and the school completely. this was a good thing for xiaolian as it made her very smart and a practical thinker, but it also boosted her self-esteem a lot, making her very confident and charismatic. she was very popular in school and was the pretty, smart, rich girl with everyone fawning over her. though she did have a lot of friends, she really only had one true friend name lu daiyu, whom of which she treated like a sister. it wasn't until 2009 did xiaolian and her best friend, daiyu, discover kpop and fall in love with it. the group was super junior-m and both girls had a different reaction to the artists. xiaolian wanted to be like them and be on stage while daiyu just thought they were super hot and talented. it wasn't until an entire year later did xiaolian follow through with her wish to be on stage just like the guys of super junior-m. xiaolian attended international sm auditions and was luckily chosen through it to become a trainee at sm entertainment.

» after moving to south korea and becoming a trainee at only 15, xiaolian began to train along multiple other chinese girl trainees who had come from the international auditions as well. xiaolian was moved into a trainee dorm that had a total of five girls altogether, including xiaolian too. her parents sent her money frequently so that she could still buy herself food and other necessities that she needed. it wasn't until late 2012 did sm staff announce they would be preparing to pick a lineup for a new group to debut among the female trainees. it honestly came as a shock to most of the trainees as exo had just debut months prior; most honestly thought that sm was going to try and make a female exo. the lineup started out with a total of 12 members, which included xiaolian as well. xiaolian was excited and made sure to stay in top condition for the months to come in preparation for debut. as the months went by, the numbers decreased more and more until there was 5, the fifth member now being red velvet's irene, who later left due to feeling unprepared for a debut. after the departure of joohyun, the final four was chosen and songs were selected for their debut. at only 17 years old, xiaolian made her debut with the other three chrysalis with "oh ma mind" and she honestly felt things were going places. however, none of the chrysalis members would be ready for their song to completely bomb on the charts, and not in a good way. just when things couldn't get any worse, a scandal had come out about xiaolian. what was the nature of it? well, she had gotten caught going to a hotel with actor, lee minho. though the photos themselves were incriminating, they weren't the truth and neither were the headlines that went along with them. xiaolian went to a hotel with minho because they were to meet a director there, but no one believed xiaolian nor minho; not even xiaolian's members believed her! xiaolian felt betrayed and lost, becoming a cold and aloof person who fell into depression once the hiatus happened to the group.

» liu xuewu / 19 / college student at ewha's womans university / xuewu and xiaolian have been best friends ever since both can really remember. the two discovered the whole of kpop together and stuck by each other's side whenever times would get tough. the two kept in contact with each other when xiaolian moved to south korea in order to train under sm, mostly through texting and phone conversations. the two didn't get to see each other again until nearly a year ago when xuewu moved to south korea to attend ewha's womans university. ever since they reunited, the two have hung out together more and more; going out to eat and seeing some good films together. whenever xiaolian feels like she's losing it, she'll just call xuewu and talk for a good hour or so and get right back on track. » fujimoto haruka / 20 / chrysalis / when haruka was first added to chrysalis back in 2014, xiaolian was livid. she knew from the beginning that sm wouldn't stop with just the addition of haruka, that more would be sure to come and she was right. after haruka came another main vocalist, lead vocalist, and a seemingly useless maknae. back when haruka was added, xiaolian hated her. she absolutely couldn't stand the fact that haruka was added because sm thought the members of chrysalis couldn't bring success to the group themselves; it was an outrage to xiaolian. xiaolian often insults and threatens the new members, mostly due to disappointment and anger. » chrysalis members / ?? / idols / the only member that xiaolian can even stand in chrysalis is the fotg. she was the only member who didn't completely doubt xiaolian's innocence, though she had at first. as for the other members? she could care less about them and what could become of them. xiaolian thinks the group's leader is a coward, the main dancer has an ego problem, the main vocalist #2 is just a shadow to haruka, the lead vocalist #2 is just an actress pretending to be an idol, and the maknae just doesn't belong in the first place. xiaolian has considered leaving the group and sm, but has been convinced by the fotg and chrysalis's manager to stay and tough it out.

stage name / l.i. » when trying to decide a stage name, xiaolian knew she didn't want to use her full name nor did she want to use xiao as it was only a nickname to begin with. after discussing with some of the staff of sm, they came to the conclusion for xiaolian to use l.i which used two letters from her name, xiaolian. l.i together stood for lady of intensity as she is known for her intense look and stare.

» xiaolian began training back in 2010 at only 15 years old under sm entertainment. training was hard and difficult, especially since xiaolian was a foreigner. she had to learn korean with the other chinese trainees as well as had to attend different vocal lessons from the other korean girl trainees because she couldn't understand the instructor because she could only speak chinese at the time. after learning korean for a year, xiaolian quickly caught up with the only girl trainees and was being considered for debut. needless to say, xiaolian was excited and hopeful, hoping that she could make her debut if she was lucky enough. she continued her trainee up until 2013 when she made her major debut with chrysalis.
