LEGAL NAME han seokwoo

・hanwoo. most people have a tendency to shorten his name (han seokwoo) to hanwoo. the nickname originated from one of his old friends from elementary school, and the name haunts him still. (he's a vegetarian, he doesn't even eat hanwoo.)
・prince. there's usually that one guy who's known to be good looking, good at sports, and has good grades to boot; han seokwoo is one of them, and it garners him the revered nickname of 'prince.' it's more of an ego-booster than anything, although he does enjoy the perks that come with being popular. "hey look, isn't that the prince?" "it is! wonder if he's actually of royal lineage."

・native korean. born and raised in south korea, seokwoo speaks with a standard seoul dialect. he's well informed with what's in and what's out with slangs and abbreviations.
・advanced english. his parents have had him enrolled in private english tutoring since he was five years old, resulting in him being able to speak english in an advanced level. he's very articulate and careful with his words, and speaks with something akin to a british accent, as most of his tutors were native brits.
・intermediate french. an extra-curricular he's taking at school. he likes the language, although he does mispronounce a word or two sometimes, and he is still far from being advanced in this particular language.

ABOUT SEOKWOO 

 

 

to outsiders, the name "han seokwoo" might bring expectations of a prince on a pedestal, some kind of male version of a ruling 'queen bee' complete with his own lackeys and a narcisisstic, somewhat narrowed outlook on his problems; well, put frankly, they couldn't be more wrong.

seokwoo is a thinker. his brain, at a glance, is a contradiction; is it possible for one to be both logical and creative? (it is.) seokwoo's ideas are creative, and, sometimes, seemingly outrageous. however, every idea of his are backed with (most of the time) nearly impeccable logic, with some flaws here and there. he tends to share or speak his idea with others without them having been finished, resulting in most of his words what he'd call 'idea vomit.' 

 

in a society that can be somewhat close minded and traditional, seokwoo is always open to new ideas, and always has his ears on the radio and eyes on the news. he keeps up with the world's changes and strives to become an open-minded person who follows the dynamics of the world, instead of keeping the conservative outlook that is prominent within his own family.

his actions are unpredictable as well, as he works on random energy spikes rather than a detailed routine. he constantly finds himself unmotivated, and while he certainly thinks of ideas, seldom ever actually 'launches' them. he doesn't see the potential he himself posessess, and has a habit of lowering himself more than necessary. he doesn't see the potential within himself that others can see, and it's... actually pretty depressing, considering he's who many look up to but at the same time, he can't see himself the way others view him as in a much more positive way (than how he considers himself as.)

'emotionally stunted' is an accurate description of him, too. while he's certainly a genius and a great thinker, emotions are far from being his forté. he doesn't know how to handle his own emotions, and when others come to him for advice, he's the one friend who just stands there and smiles awkwardly with a lack of good ideas. feelings and emotions only take up a total of less than 10% on his haphazard brain, really.

 

・his favourite movie is inglourious basterds.
・the only genre of music he listens to is alternative rock, and he has no tolerance for electronic music; it's not him being a snob or anything, it just doesn't work for him.
・though he doesn't actively listen to k-pop, he's constantly kept updated about the girlgroups (courtesy of his best friend taeil), and would name snsd as his ideal type if prompted. mostly 'cause he doesn't have an ideal type and that's the mainstream answer to go with.
・lost his ity at a (high-class) brothel, although that's taeil's fault.
・dated only one girl previous, and it was a short relationship; it was more of an experiment on seokwoo's part rather than actual feelings.
・joined the prom committee on his own initiative because most of his friends were on the committee as well, and it ended up feeling like it was expected of him to be on the committee anyway.
・other than french, he's also involved in cinematography extracurriculars. he aspires to become a movie director.
・unsurprisingly, he doesn't believe in ghosts, much less zombies. the logic behind it doesn't make sense to him.

・wants to go to university abroad.

FAMILY 

・parental figure. considers his father as the primary parental figure in his life, as his parents divorced around two years ago and his mother moved away to paris. he seldom sees her now, but there are no bitter feelings between him and his mother, it's just that the distance makes it hard for him to feel the attachment. his father is the owner of an oil company (resulting in his family's wealth and splendor), and the both of them rarely have the time to speak to each other, whatwith his father's position and seokwoo's own high school duties and extracurriculars.
・younger sister. seoyoon (seokwoo's younger sister) is three years younger than him, and already known as the complete opposite of his person; she's a vibrant, rather loud, person — a complete and utter extrovert, and the life of the party. where seokwoo rarely thinks with his heart, seoyoon's emotions rule her. as it is, the two of them clash more than they get along, with seoyoon's free spirit and seokwoo's reluctance to let her roam off on her own with his protective brotherly instincts.

・the round table. a mock name based off king arthur's round table, this group is seokwoo's primary circle of friendship, consisting of him and his two best friends. 

◦ kang taeil. seokwoo has been friends with taeil since the both of them were in diapers; taeil's father is one of seokwoo's father's business partners, and the both of them were introduced to each other from a young age. taeil, as a person, is very different from seokwoo. taeil is a womanizer (he loves women, and seokwoo can testify to that seeing as he was there when taeil spent his eighteenth birthday at a high-class brothel) and, the textbook definition of a jock. despite all their differences, however, seokwoo would stick up for taeil through thick and thin.
◦ moon hyeju. the girl of the group, hyeju and seokwoo are fairly similar, the difference being hyeju is more of an artist than seokwoo is. hyeju is a poet, and while it's often the subject of merciless teasing from taeil, seokwoo enjoys her work; the both of them are like two birds of a feather, and while there'd been rumors about the both of them going on sometime during their first year of high school, in the end hyeju dated someone from outside the country (it was a long distance relationship and they met through a student exchange program), and seokwoo remained (happily) single.

・rachel kim. seokwoo viewed a prom date more as a hindrance than a necessity (he's aual, possibly aromantic), and so, opted to take the first person who showed interest to go with him to the prom. that person ended up being rachel han, a friend of someone from his circle of friends, a transfer student from los angeles who'd admired him for a while. he doesn't have any feelings for her, platonic nor romantic, although he does consider her tolerable (despite her laugh, that sounded similar to a dying seal sometimes, and her general exuberance that was a complete opposite of his gloomy, silent demeanor.)
