What happens when your ship dies?

I've been joking arounf that my ship is dead... you know, because TOPDara ship was never the liveliest of shipping pairs... It's a joke. TabiSan is dead. Because practically it was never really alive. At the beginning of writing for tabisan, I didn't think that I would ever be losing traction in writing because, well, the feels have run out. I mean, I didn't ship Dara and TOP because I needed them together. It was mostly because I liked TOP and Dara as individual artist. So I thought, you know, as long as I still like them individually, TabiSan would never die, but I don't know nowadays. I mean my TOPDara characters, they are still alive in my head, but I am no longer compelled to write about them, nor do I feel anyone is particularly invested in them anymore.

So as much as I don't think my ship is dead, per se, I just think, you know, that they're as alive? hahaha. I mean, I still have readers but it's not the same as say three years ago when the comments section are full of lively commentators because a lot of people were invested in them. I don't know.

 

I actually need to leave lol, but anywho, the point of this post, is that, I am asking for some thoughts around the matter. I am just, uh, losing interest... but maybe it's mostly me. I have as much life-enthusiasm as piss.

Im still an avid shipper of that ship though my otp is really daragon. tabisan is mu first ship, you see. And im sorry for not commenting as muchas i used too. Its been a while since ive read stories on aff.

Actually we only need to imagine them base on their characters that somewhat jive with their physical features and projected image we have for them in our own little world. I dont find it dead reading tabisan. Coz honestly tabi is one unique character who fits the unique roles in any dara fics. Thats y dara is so shippable coz every story and character of her, u can always choose among those gorgeousness male leads to pair with her. Im still an avid fan of ur stories that i can assure u. I even followed ur blog just to keep myself posted.

At some point i felt the same too. Like you have it there in your head but not be compelled to be write it. I always wonder how tabisan fics were written when they were little to none interaction from both. So all this scenarios in my head are stuck in my head. Like yes i wanted to write but it is in reading that I am more cmfortable with. I want to read something about tabisan. I want those scenarios (not just tabisan but with other otps as well) floating in my head to be a story but i dont have enough drive in me to write about it. Idk if I'm making sense. Just my thoughts.

I love your stories and you are one of my favorite writers here in aff. I'm an avid Tabisan shipper so no matter what I keep coming back for your stories. There aren't a lot of Tabisan stories in aff so I'm very thankful of you.

The hiatus for 2NE1 has not helped out either.. TT We only see Dara ever so often and TOP doesn't even interact much with anyone except BB.. TT

I love reading your tabisan stories but i do get what you mean. I still hope you continue writing tabisan stories cuz i just love them.

I still love writing TabiSan but recently I tried writing hayi centric stories too. Of course I still write TabiSan but I guess I want to break the same pattern of using the same pairing. They are still my favorite though. And I feel you. You would see a lot of people subscribing but sometimes you barely get any comments but sometimes I blame it on the fact that I probably at writing and people are just being polite so they opt not to comment on the failure of a story I put out there. Let's not give up though specially you. I love your TabiSan stories. I miss Mikan's stories as well.

Sometimes it is kinda saddening to see ships being sooooo trendy and then they suddenly vanish as newer and more trendy ships appear from newer groups or rookie groups. I notice that the fan fiction community is no different from the kpop community. People really go for new characters and ships once in a while, because at some point you're kind of done with certain existant pairings or idol groups in general. People grow older, move on, switch bias groups. It all happens. Usually the first 5 years of a group are the glory years for their fan fiction and then it tends to die. Unless you are Big Bang or SNSD, I guess. Smaller groups and lesser known idols will most likely vanish and won't being written about anymore after like 2 or 3 years after debut. Recently I saw a girl group show on flopped idols that want to show more of themselves and it was heart-warming and heart-breaking at the same time. People easily forget about all the side groups and focus on the top 3 or top 5 most popular groups only. They deserve love too. If you still wish to write about your pairing, just go for it. You shouldn't write it, because it is trending. You write about the idols you want to support. For all we know your fanfic suddenly becomes trending and people will look up your 'forgotten' ships and idols :)
