Things we remember...

Rupert Chawner Brooke  3 August 1887 – 23 April 1915

The inscription on the stone was written by a fellow war poet < Wilfred Owen> It reads:   "My subject is War, and the pity of War. The Poetry is in the pity."

He died at 4:46 pm on 23 April 1915, on the French hospital ship, the Duguay-Trouin

Buried at:  Greek island of Skyros in the Aegean Sea

I found this interesting that my father a 9th grade English teacher, later turned school psychologist, also passed away on 23 April...

Funny the things we remember and the things that make us think of those we love and miss with all of our heart, soul and mind...

XOXOXO,

:) PJ

Yes, he died young and in service of his country...that makes me sad. Have you read any of his poems? I haven't until today; stumbled across an article with a reference to him and a poem. It was lovely in an odd way but when you read about how "off" he was it fits quite well. ;) He was rumored to be biual and went skinny dipping with ia Wolfe, lol!
Sorry I haven't written, I haven't felt good. Think I have a summer bug, grrrr. : / I promise to get you some feedback though. Did I mention I like research? Because you had me googling in the first chapter, loved it!!! :D
Have a great night! I'm going to go lay my aching head down ;)
