Hello, whoever you are!

It's summer and my Yixing feelz are at an all-time-high, and I need a creative outlet to deal with all of these emotions. Decided to try joining a writing contest to get motivated to write fanfics again. After shopping around, I settled on Mystic Writing Contest! 

The prizes consist of karma points, subs, upvotes, and passes to graphic design shops. The judges' cheatsheet looks like they read a lot of the same things I do, so that works out. Although I strongly feel that beginning with a theme isn't the best way to approach a new story, there are ton of theme-based prompts to choose from, so there's defintiely going to be one to fit any story. There are also song-based prompts, but I also based my story on an EXO song "Black Pearl", so I felt like it would be kind of redundant to choose another song-based prompt.

I went with prompt #19, a quote: "Follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly." The song "Black Pearl" is about taking to the stormy seas in pursuit of that which is most precious to you. In my story, Yixing isn't so much obsessed as he is desperate, but it's almost the same thing. 

I've been watching "Go Fighting" a lot lately, and even though I originally watched it for Yixing, I was hooked by the whole cast's amazing chemistry and general hilarity. My decision to write a fantasy/historical AU with Yixing as the main character is in part because they do a lot of historical-based games on Go Fighting and also, Yixing's new drama "Old Nine Gates" looks in' and freaking amazing, and I am pumped af. I did some research for the story and was also inspired by the story of Cheng Shih, the Pirate Queen who terrorized the South China Sea in the 19th century and retired and opened a gambling den until her death in 1844. I read the Wikipedia article and thought that was just so badass, I had to write a pirate!AU after reading it.
