stage persona — She's called the coffee shop vocal because she has a very smooth vocal texture, and she frequents coffee shops in order to perform for fun.

stage personality — True to who she is, Stella still doesn't hide much when on stage. In fact when she is in front of fans, it is an amplified version of herself. She's happy go lucky, excited, and bubbly. When he anxiety acts up, she hides herself behind other members and tries to disappear in front of the camera. The only difference is that she hides all the issues (such as member tensions) with plenty of skinship (which she absolutely is not comfortable with), compliments, and random outbursts. Of course, fans know when she is down, no matter how she tries to hide it...she wears hear heart on her sleeve.

strengths + weaknesses — Stella has a decent singing range although she has a tendency to strain while singing higher notes due to her improper technique. Although she has a good vovcal range, she has an affinity for lower notes, adlibbing, and playing instruments while singing. Her rapping is slightly above average, nothing special or particularly great unless she practices a lot.

Spending many years playing instruments, she has found out that she likes composing and writing lyrics as welll. Her dancing used to be a lot better, but as she continued to focus on vocals, she began to put less effort into her dances. Of course, she picks of choreography quite quickly and doesn't struggle with anything unless it's particularly difficult.

Although she is a bubbly and fun girl, she doesn't understand the sense of humor Koreans like exactly and her Korean isn't the most desirable (as of 2013). She will need several more years before she can be considered a desirable idol on variety, therefore, making her a better idol on the stage. She is not the worst on varitey shows, but she has to take her time to analyze the area. She's an extroverted gal, but she only truly is open with talking and being fun when it's primarily the girls in her group. Her social anxiety prevents her from doing well on MC-ing gigs, so, she avoids them completely.

trainee years + previous companies — She trained for approximately a year (eleven months) before debuting officially. Although she was scouted by Pledis Entertainment before auditioning, she has only been under Jellyfish Entertainment. She's been training in dance for five years (since she was ten).

audition + trainee experience — After being scouted by a Pledis Entertainment talent scout after playfully dancing with her brother at the Korean Times Music Festival in 2011, she auditioned for three companies. She auditioned for Pledis Entertainment naturally as well as Jellyfish and Woollim Entertainment. Eventually, she picked Jellyfish Entertainment due the company housing Park Hyoshin. Instead of singing, she actually danced to With You by Chris Brown for her audition and then was asked to sing (in which she picked K.Will's Don't Leave).

Training period wasn't the most terrible thing for her, but it was hard adjusting to a culture that was so different to what she was growing up with. Although auditioning as a dancer, they ended up picking her due to her potential as a singer. She struggled with vocal practice due to her bad technique, and she almost quit due to the intensity of the training sessions. As she trained as a dancer for five years prior to joining Jellyfish Entertainment, she didn't struggle with the not so frequent dance practices and therefore never improved.

She spoke Korean at home, so, she wasn't completely new to the language. What puzzled her was the level of formalities. Since she wasn't comfortable with the formalities, it was difficult getting along with some of the other trainees.

She took piano lessons since she was eight, but stopping at age twelve (due to being rebellious and preferring dancing). Beginning at age ten, she took dance classes actively. At age thirteen, her older brother began teaching her the guitar. Currently, she is taking lessons under the company for piano and guitar to improve her skills.

things she'd like to keep secret — Stella was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder after PHOENIX's disbandment when she went back to spend a month in America with her father (although she suspected she had it earlier, but with the mental health care system being quite...??? she avoided getting checked up in SK). Though she does not take medication for her, she knows letting the media know would cause massive backlash.

There was a choice between her and another American born vocalist for competition to debut in PHOENIX. The other vocalist was better and more well rounded (in everything but visuals in which they had their own strong points). In order to get onto the team, her dad put in a little bit of money and she went on a series of dates with an older idol who had his eye on her (name not given so we can expand in the story and essentially services, but no they didn't do any funny business bc she was 15 at the time). Her family's money and how the company went on easy her was part of the reason why Hwayeon disliked her.

She's never dabbled in drugs or bullied others, simply because she grew up in a community in the US that had little to no tolerance for that. (Also, she hates the seniority system too.) She's a bit bratty to her seniors (that are close in age, so, basically anyone within two or three years of her age) behind the scenes when she's tired.

personality —

To start it off, Stella is a girl who knows not of limits and rules. If she is to pursue something, she will pursue it undoubtly with a passion. According to this young girl, dreams and wishes are meant to be pursued without regrets. Her basic principle is that human beings should live without regrets because everything is meant to be. Now, once Stella is set on something, she will almost never change her mind openly. She believes that she is correct, and she will not back down as it messes with her confidence levels (which aren't the highest).

Despite being quite stubborn and sometimes hard to deal with, Stella tends to be quite acute when it comes to others. She has tendency to metaphorically take apart people and make educated guesses on their emotions, though not always correct. She knows that she has to put herself into other shoes before passing judgment. As she is sensitive to other people's feelings, Stella will often be one of the first people who will volunteer to console them or help them out. if there are other human beings out there in the world, we should be helping others and not hurting them. Of course, she knows when to leave a person to themselves when the time comes along. Sometimes, and often enough, she becomes too overbearing for people to handle.

Being raised with a family that was split apart, Stella overanalyzes and overthinks just about everything as she believed that she missed all the signals that were telling her something was wrong. Things like: "I spilt coffee on Hwayeon this morning, is she still mad?" turn into "Hwayeon hates me, she thinks I'm useless." Though she thinks it's completely normal, her anxiety sometimes gets the best of her. She deeply cares about the opinions of the people around her to the point where it can become toxic, especially in an environment such as the music industry. Of course, she'll bottle it up. She doesn't want to bother people, she doesn't want to put her feelings out there for fear of being hurt. Occasionally, she shuts herself from other people because she overanalyzes things and takes things too personally.

Even though she appears not to mind the criticism or teasing on the surface, she tends to take it to heart. Though Stella wants to receive attention, it truly hurts her when people make fun of her accent or bash her singing. She tries not to show it, but she is easily affected by other people's comments.
