Disappointed with MAMA 2015

Okay so first thing first, THERE WAS A SOSHIBANG INTERACTION \O/ Bless you Seungri~

Okay so my thoughts on MAMA 2015, tbvfh is was such a so-so(?) I was actually a tad bit disappointed (possibly due to the fact Infinite wasn't there & GG as a whole wasn't there either! I wanted a GYoon moment dammit TT_TT) but other than that, the votings and the performances had me slightly mad. Okay, without a doubt Big Bang had a ing smash success this year with their MADE album and they totally deserve the performance time they had! (also they absolutely killed the stage!) But other than that, the other YG artists had more performance time than SM or any other companies for that matter.

REPOST (practically summed up my thoughts):

[based on charts: YG dominate at 40%. SM - 23%. JYP - 10%. The other labels had to share the rest of the 23%]

And also, 2NE1 and PSY had more stage time than all the other artists even though 2NE1 didn't release any material this year as a group and PSY had somehow used MAMA as a comeback stage. Look, I don't really care that he wanted to have comeback stage of sort but point is, it's an END OF YEAR AWARD SHOW and artists who actually released material and promoted really hard this year (eg: Red Velvet and Twice) didn’t even get to perform, at the expense of those who hadn’t even put out a song.

(I’m not opposed to 2NE1 reforming. Like a majority of others I think the idea of Park Bom being banished for life is a complete overreaction. What I’m annoyed at here is at how this was done. For example it would have been a lot more understandable if CL had released her solo at some stage earlier this year and then 2NE1 came out to join her to help her sing her solo as a special group version (kinda like how Sistar have performed Sistar 19 songs as a whole during special performances) before finishing off with I Am The Best as a finale.

The other aspect that is annoying as is that it was basically for nothing. YG has already put out a statement to say that Park Bom’s performance was a “surprise for her fans” but there is “no plan for a comeback”.

Then there’s the matter of Ikon, a rookie who debuted 3 months ago, having the 5th highest amount of stage time. They had a decent debut but it wasn’t this slayage impact YG stans like to wish it was. Amongst male rookies it was solid (enough to win Rookie of the Year fairly) but they were hardly above SHINee (7 year seniors), BTS (who had 2 comebacks, over 100000 albums sales and a world tour) or Got7 (who released 3 albums so far this year). Seriously though YG can act elitist over sending Ikon to a regular music show during the year, but has no problems with them taking up 10 minutes at an end of year award show from the same program?

It’s hugely disappointing that instead of seeing a range of artists from this year at an end of year awards ceremony viewers were instead subjected to a 40% YG concert featuring songs from 2009. Off the top of my head, artists outside “the Big 3” that put out great songs this year we missed out on seeing.

For starters whilst 3 of the nominees for best male rookie showed up and all of them performed, only Twice were represented for best female rookie and they didn’t get a stage at all.  Red Velvet were also forced to attend in order to collect their attendance trophy for best dance female, however they didn’t get to perform either.

In fact for the whole show 2NE1 were the only female group who had a performance to themselves, and as mentioned above they didn’t even have a comeback this year. FX were the only other group to perform however they were made to collab with the Pet Shop Boys who couldn’t even get their name right. Seriously. “X-F” how do you that up? It’s not even a Korean band name, just two letters of the English alphabet.

MAMA also served to show how meaningless fan votes were with awarding SanE the best rap award when he was absolutely decimated in the voting category placing last. I always get nagged on twitter by fan accounts in my mentions telling me to vote but why the should I why the whole concept is meaningless?

(done with the most part. if anyone wants ot read more, here.)

(also about the whole Taeyang 'shaded' other artists, I personally don't think he was shading the other artists. I mean who knows right? If he did shade them, (then I'm looking down on you Youngbae as he himself did the same for last year's award), but then again maybe he was genuinely sad the other artists weren't there as it was a big award for them. And considering their rumoured enlistment soon, it would make sense for him to be emotional that there weren't other artists celebrating with them.)

Albums alone, Ikon wasn't supposed to win Rookie of the Year. Seventeen was the rightful owner of the title, followed by Monsta X and THEN them. Monsta X received at least one award, I'm pleased to say - but I'm also severely disappointed about GOT7 and Seventeen, who got nothing and are among the hardest working groups. MAMA is ing stupid, it's just a showcase for the artists from the Big Three ft. the "lesser companies."

i really wanted gary to win too but unfortunately, voting apparently only counts for 10% of the votes (which was why in one category i can't remember, big bang was winning over exo in votes but exo still won the prize). also did pet shop boys really say X-F? LMAO.

I'M STILL NOT OVER SEUNGRI SITTING ON SEHUN'S LAP THOUGH. if only big bang and exo fans could stop arguing now . . . (i love both)

My sentiments exactly!! How the hell did San E get the award( no offense though, I love San E so much) when Gary was obviously leading from the start of the voting!
