( the beginning ) Jéssica was born on cold day of november and she was the result of not wearing a . since her father was a pastor, god's presence in Jéssicay's life was total. living in her house would mean going to a lot of church activities and not being able to listen to any music that wasn't gospel.
( how she became insecure ) at school, her grades were the best among the class. even though she had good grades, Jéssica was the outcast of the class and was always made fun of. due to her thicker body, she was target of many insults and hate. Jéssica didn't really cared about the opinion of others until her mother started telling her everyday that she needed to lose weight because she was too fat. because of that Jéssica lost all of her confidence. and somehow, it prevails until today - her lack of confidence.
( she doesn't believe in love ) when jéssica was 9, her father left home and never came back. she remembers that he slammed the door behind him so hard that it almost shook the whole house. her mother died that day. her mother loved her father and when he left, he took her heart with him. for the next 3 years, JÉSSICA watched her mother get drunk in vodka bottles and depression pills. at the age of 13, JÉSSICA spent 12 hours in the hospital waiting to see if her sister was going to be okay, after the boy she loved told her he didn't loved her anymore. there was so much blood when JÉSSICA found her in the cold bathroom floor. two years later, JÉSSICA stayed up for two nights straight with her best friend while she cried, shrieked and threw up on her bathroom's toilet because her boyfriend left her for his ex. at the age of 17, JÉSSICA had a substitute in english because her teacher was getting divorced and couldn't handle coming out of bed. when she came back she was smiling but her hands shook so hard that you could see that something was broken inside. after only seeing broken hearts around her, JÉSSICA started believing that love was something that only existed in books.
( when she knew she wanted to sing ) it started when JÉSSICA heard a non-gospel song for the first time. "listen" by beyonce. it was love at first song. JÉSSICA immediately fell in love with the stage. that's when she realized that her dream was to sing whatever was in her heart. even if JÉSSICA already knew what she wanted to be, she never told anyone. one day she was invited to sing at her church. shyly, she accepted the invitation. she had never been more scared in her whole life. the fact that she was going to sing for the first time in front of someone was already scary enough but that night, the church was full of people which made her panic even more. still JÉSSICA sang the best she could. at the end, many people congratulated her, her voice and her singing. "you have such a powerful voice for your age, you shouldn't waste it" that was most people told her. "why i never knew you could sing like that?" was the first thing wendy's best friend told her. "you have to use that voice." her friend kept saying.
