 face
faceclaim. choi yewon
height & weight. 162cm, 46kg
appearance. her hair is a dark brown which reaches just above her shoulders (for the longest time, her hair was pin-straight at reached her mid-back, but she decided to chop it off when she started becoming serious about her dancing). she has a birthmark on the back of her left shoulder which resembles mickey mouse, and she has a scar on the upper left side of her forehead when she accidentally hit her head riding her bike. her eyes are a lighter brown, and she has two piercings on her right ear (two earlobe) and three on her right (two earlobe, one cartilage). emiko is a total girly-girl. girly dresses in pastel colors are probably her favorite, but he also loves huge, oversized sweaters and leggings. she usually wears shorts and a tshirt to dance practice, and comfy shoes, such as converse or boots, are loved, though she'll wear heels sometimes, just because of her height.

 soul
personality.
[+] caring, gentle, observant, neat
[-] soft-spoken, shy, cries easily, reserved

emiko definitely is a soft soul. caring and gentle, she gives off a soft, girlish vibe, and she is sweet and courteous to whoever she meets. definitely the characteristics of your stereotypical korean drama girl. years of dance training have hardwired her brain to pick up small errors in dances, which has translated over to real life; emiko is very observant, and she can notices small inconsistencies or changes in things or people. she's the first to notice when something's wrong with her friends and family (if they got a boyfriend/girlfriend, if they broke up, if something's wrong in the family, etc), although she usually doesn't say anything about it, since she's so quiet. with her observant nature comes a level of neatness. emiko hates it whenever anything is out of place, so her room and other places are always very neat, and she'll always clean up the house just out of habit.

however, emiko is very, very quiet, and she often gets lost in the hustle and bustle of city life. she often doesn't speak unless spoken to, and she's often drowned out by the more boisterous people in her life. although she is well liked by those around her, she doesn't talk much, as she's very shy, and she doesn't like approaching people she doesn't know. emiko also gets very emotional very easily, and she is known for being a little crybaby, though she can't control it. it's understandable for things such as getting yelled at or breaking up with someone or getting upset over a dance or song you can't perfect, but emiko will cry over the most trivial things. like, she'll cry if the cafeteria at school runs out of kimchi. she'll cry if she can't find her water bottle even though she literally had it two seconds ago. she'll cry if her hair gets messed up when she's dancing. how she toughed out the years of hardcore dance training, nobody knows. also, she doesn't like getting emotionally close to people. she's friendly and nice to others, of course, but she doesn't like opening up her soul to others, which means she doesn't have a lot of close friends. she prefers to be reserved, as the less people she gets close to, the less of a chance someone will turn around and stab her in the back.

background. choi bora and nakamura takashi met over their mutual love of dance - she was studying abroad in tokyo when the two dance majors met in a ballet class. she was of the belief that if her soulmate was out there, she'd met him eventually, and he was of the belief that if he saw his soulmate, he'd know. the two of them ended up moving to osaka, where emiko was born. emiko moved to korea, her mother's hometown, when she was fourteen years old; the family was in korea for a family vacation and emiko's father learned about a space where he could buy and open a dance studio, his and emiko's mother's dream. they decided to stay and opened up platinum dance studio a few months later. a quiet, shy girl, emiko was always a studious child that rarely got into trouble yet cried all the time; her parents often joked that she never grew out of the colic she had as a baby. growing up, her mother would often bring her to the dance studio where she taught, which resulted in a deep fascination and love for dance. while in osaka, she was enrolled in ballet and jazz as soon as she was steady and confident on her feet, and continued her studies of dance even after she moved to seoul. as she got older, she began competing in local and national competitions, where her performances were highly praised and rewarded.

after she came to korea, her love for dance only intensified. she continued competing in local and national competitions, which was met with extremely fierce competition. although she was classically trained, she knew that if she even stood a chance, she needed to learn hip hop and street dance, dance styles she'd never dreamed of learning. to this day, her hip hop and street dancing are still not as strong as her ballet or jazz, as she has had a late start on the first two, but she has worked hard to bring her skill level to where it is now. she is currently a student at the school of performing arts seoul, where she is preparing to become a dance major in high school while teaching some classes at platinum dance studio.

relationships
“ mother / choi bora / 45 / ballet instructor / sweet, caring, forgetful / "i'm glad you were a part of my life"
bora is the reason emiko ended up getting into dance; as a dance instructor, emiko ended up following her mother to the studio often and, as a result, ended up falling in love with the art of dance. emiko and bora are very close, and emiko is emotionally the closest with her mother. bora has always told her daughter that if she and her soulmate are destined to meet, it will happen naturally, and that she doesn't need to go out searching for them, words that emiko has taken to heart.
“ father / nakamura takashi / 47 / platinum dance studio owner, jazz and hip-hop instructor / level-headed, funny, cheerful / "thank you"
takashi is probably one of the only people who can get a full, genuine laugh out of emiko (she will smile and chuckle whenever someone tell a joke, but she'll stay silent most of the time), and she and her father are very close. he knows not to push her daughter too far our of her comfort zone, and she tries to do her best for him. takashi has never pushed his daughter on the topic of soulmates, he has always just said that the right person is out there, and that her family will always be there for her.
“ best friend / oh minah / 19 / dancer/assistant teacher at platinum dance studio / dorky, bright, understanding, giving / "i love you"
emiko, during her first few dance lessons at her new studio in seoul, was often lonely, though she was definitely one of the better dancers in the class. minah noticed this girl, the quiet little ballerina who kicked everyone else's asses while on pointe, and decided to go to her for help and pointers on her form and technique and whatnot. emiko, who was surprised at minah's inquiries, happily helped her out, and the two of them ended up hitting it off. minah finds herself blessed by her soulmate - she takes comfort in the fact that the last words will be ones of love, and emiko couldn't be more jealous.
“ best friend / murakami sukiko / 18 / high school senior / impulsive, bold, loud, animated, loyal / "i'll see you tomorrow?"
sukiko has the privelage of calling herself emiko's first friend. they met in elementary school, when emiko was, of course, crying about her mother leaving her on the first day of 3rd grade. sukiko, being the bold, blunt, and impulsive child she was, walked over to her, snatched emiko's hand up, instructed her to say goodbye to her mother, and lead her into the classroom. they've been best friends ever since, and the two of them were heartbroken when emiko learned she was going to move to korea and leave sukiko behind. sukiko's words have always held sadness - it's the feeling of obliviousness that accompany them that makes sukiko live life to its fullest.
“ friend/friend's boyfriend / nakamoto kenji / 17 / high school junior / childlike, 'devilish', understanding / "just... leave. please."
kenji, back in primary school, always was a prankster and a troublemaker, and emiko happened to be one of his victims that day. emiko, of course, flipped out after the prank was over with, crying so hard she ended up missing class, but after he got chewed out by sukiko, he apologized and was, for whatever reason, befriended by sukiko. and if someone's friends with sukiko, they're going to have to make friends with emiko as well. he and sukiko, athough the quarreled a lot, ended up dating after emiko left for korea. kenji's words have always haunted him, as they seem to be spoken out of heartbreak, so he tries to live his life without making his loved ones angry.
“ ex-best friend / takahashi ayame / 17 / high school junior / easily irritable, blunt, stubborn / none - born without a soulmate
ayame is the reason emiko hates getting close to people. for the longest time, it was ayame and emiko, the dynamic dancing duo. both ayame and emiko shared a mutual love for jazz and ballet, and while ayame certainly was gifted, she never really excelled like emiko did. it was after emiko demolished ayame in a dance competition that ayame's strict, uptight father had attended, that ayame was told that she would forbidden from dancing, since her father knew that if a dancer was not the best of the best, they had no future in the career. well, ayame certainly was pissed, and she ended up screaming at emiko, saying how much she hated her, how she wished they were never friends, and that she should just stop dancing to stop making others look so bad. to an 13-year-old, it was like the world was ending. emiko tried to stop dancing, she really did, but with two parents in the profession and such a passion and love for the art, she just couldn't do it. the two of them avoided each other like the plague for the next year, and emiko couldn't be happier that she was leaving ayame behind.

 fate
the words. "please, you are my everything..."
plotline. the timid
the reaction. emiko hates these words. they've always meant that she had a chance yet walked away. combined with he rather traumatic experience with ayame, she has chosen to never grow close to another person (except for her parents, who she adores). she just hopes that her final words to her soulmate aren't taken harsly, and that she'll possibly just meet her soulmate in passing (it seems pretty impossible with her fate, but a girl can dream, right?)

 heart
love interest. lee seokmin // barista
birthday & age. february 18th, 1997 // 18
current relationship. passing friends
personality. although he has his cool, suave image with the ladies, he's really more of a down-to-earthsensitive person once you get to know him. surprisingly sweet and caring to those close to him, he has a level of compassion and empathy of one wise beyond his years. he's fiercely protective of those around him, whether it be his family, friends, or colleagues. 'if you want to get to them, you'll have to go through me first' is a mindset he's always had, and you definitely don't want to cross him when he's pissed. he's also, like emiko, observant, as he likes to make sure the people in his life are ok. he's also a very driven person, and he won't let anything stand between him and his goals.

everyone has their weaknesses, and seokmin's is definitely his short temper. he's done and excellent job on learning how to hide it, often blowing up in private, but an irritable seokmin is an unhappy seokmin, and the people around him tread carefully whenever they sense he's unhappy, as he has no problem with telling it as it is (and trust me, sometimes the words coming out of his mouth can make you feel actual physical pain). he can also be pretty damn stubborn, which can be a burden whenever it comes to compromising, especially in his love life.

background. "i knew you weren't the one..."
to be completely honest, these words have really screwed with seokmin. a complete gentleman his entire life, he couldn't imagine drawing someone into his life only to force them away. seokmin chooses to date freely, without letting the words get him down, but he is always aware that he won't get the fairytale ending with his soulmate.
first meeting & interactions. emiko drinks coffee pretty religiously - a cup in the morning to get her going, and a cup after school before she needs to head to the studio. seokmin just so happens to work at the coffee shop emiko likes to frequent (gotta pay for college somehow), and he's always greeted his regular customer with a smile, good coffee, and some not-so-subtle flirting. emiko usually just blows him off (he's a persistant one, that seokmin), but whenever minah's with emiko, she'll always try to play the wingman, trying to set the two of them up.
ending. that's for me to know and for you to find out... can't spoil my own story! ;)
