Axel Michaelis was and always has been a mystery. His ability to mimic powers was first discovered at the age of 6, when a shape shifter four years older than him shifted into a wolf. Making eye contact with the mutant, this triggered his ability and copied the mutant's form. Living with parents that liked to gamble, they saw this as an opportunity to make money, training him in hand-to-hand combat, locking him up for hours and tossing him into pit fights with other mutants that usually had the outcome of him bringing home the bacon in the end. He continued to be their pet and bring them a big value of money after each fight until his 17th birthday where he finally decided to run away from his own living hell. Jumping on the train to the next city, he wandered around and starved before coming across a coffee shop where the owner was another mutant. This mutant took him under his wing and took care of him, in turn asking Axel to work part time in the coffee shop. Axel agreed, and three years later, he has a normal life. But the past always comes back to haunt us, and he doesn't know if he's ready to face the people that he tried so hard to erase from his once dirty life.

Axel is a simple person, yet complicated at the same time. Readable yet unpredictable. He is his own mystery that one needs to unravel. He does not seem to put much thought into things that deem of little importance to him, and that would result in him being called careless, but really, it's his way of not bringing problems onto his plate. He numbers the important people in his life and when you're one of them, you would be considered lucky because he would do anything to protect you. He's also bipolar, and can go to quiet to weird, flirty to cold in a matter of seconds, depending on who you are and what he thinks of you.
