BACKGROUND: 

 

"baby i was born this way" / giyoung was born in jeju island, grew up in a quite well-off family consisted of a mother, father, and one younger brother. the kang family was quite respectable and famous in the neighborhood due to the mother's job as a high school teacher and the father's job as a doctor in the local hospital. they were seen as the role model because of how seemingly perfect the family was and the fact that their smart genes ran thoroughly in the family.

 

"investment in knowledge pays the best interest" / as a child, there was nothing called problem in giyoung's growing phase. she was such an obedient and smart girl who knew how to make their parents proud by forever snatching #1 ranking at school. even in high school when people referred as the time when love birds chirped and flower bloomed, giyoung only had her eyes for books and study as she believed that knowledge would be the only one who could save life and hence, she always dreamed to be an snu's student once she graduated from high school. her parents were open about educational matters, they didn't go against giyoung's decision of enrolling in snu but instead, they told her to take care and find her living place at seoul by herself.

 

"all things are difficult before they are easy" / giyoung used to live in a small appartment near snu until she graduated and moved out to yonglim three years ago. everything went sail smooth until she ended her six month of internship, passed with the other two out of forty interns and officially started working at the smartphone company. it had been almost one year since then, but there wasn't much of changes: she was still seen as a newbie. making coffee, copies, ordering lunch, booking plane tickets, she did all that kind of errands for almost a year yet she still hadn't get the chance to do the actual job. stress striked and giyoung started to question whether she chose the right path, she even started to get used to drinking despite of her low tolerance of alcohol. the thought of quitting her job came once in a while but she tried her best to endure because it had been a year, seriously, there should be something good coming soon.

"the i-hate-women-especially-you nim" / shin jungil / 48 / sales team leader / meticulous, picky, impatient / shin jungil is the boss in giyoung's team, the one who leads and responsible for whatever the team's doing. although being ranked as the most influental worker, he has always been having a woman-worker-hate illness due to his mindset and past experiences of working with woman coworkes and none of them are as competent as he has expected. "marriage, pregnant, giving birth, if women are going to get all the holidays then what's the point of them working at the company to begin with", he once says.

 

"the observant mother friend's son" / seo kangjun / 27 / sales team 3 assistant / solemn, persistent, straight forward / kangjun and giyoung aren't acquinted at first. they're just coworkers who barely works with each other since they come from different teams, but with the work place condition which is only seperated by 1,5m cabin, no one wouldn't know that pitiful newbie named kang giyoung from the neighbour team. kangjun used to be a bystander but after their sudden encounter at a restaurant two weeks ago, he can't help but notice and care for the girl more since she magically turns out to be his blind date partner, the one whom his mother set up and talked about every dinner.

HOW DID YOU MEET?: 

 

"how she moved to room 304" / when giyoung was counting down the days until her college graduation, the rent period of her previous appartment was over yet she didn't even realize because there were a lot of things she had to take care of at the moment. luckily, she had already got an appartment in mind whom the owner was actually her mother's acquintance from school. her mother once mentioned that her daughter was living alone in seoul, and with small talks she was able to get some discount and told giyoung to quickly move over.

 

"didn't know it would last so long" / it was on the moving out day when the latter met jinyoung, and their first meeting was nothing extraordinary. giyoung was going back and forth to the minimart due to forgetting things like sticky tape, scissors, champor, etc, and jinyoung immediately noticed that the girl was a newly-moved tenant. being friendly as he usually was, jinyoung asked a few things and it turned out that both of them were students at snu, at least 'still' because giyoung was graduating soon. from that, they talked about their almamater and since jinyoung was a freshmen back then, he had a lot of questions regarding college despite of going to a different major (jinyoung majored in psychology). in the other hand, giyoung was actually not the type who fonded of talking with new people but since she was new to the area and he had been so nice talking to her first, she was glad to give him some tips and good eating place reccomendations around campus.

 

  

 

RELATIONSHIP: 

 

"it seems like i like you, i don't, but i like you" / personality wise, giyoung was indeed practical and not fun as she did all the things by book, but when jinyoung noticed how this independent-looking lady turned into a lost cat at home, he couldn't help but got drawn in. people out there might familiar with the hard working kang giyoung, but only few of them actually knew how she was like behind the scenes, and jinyoung was glad to be one of the few. witnessing the girl spilling her coffee, tripping on her way, spacing out for no reason, and even sleeping while she was on a conversation, jinyoung could feel how the world had been so tiring for her, like she didn't have any energy left when she came home and just did whatever. although it was true that jinyoung admired her for her daily quotes in life and mature way of thinking, he couldn't help but adore giyoung's ditzy side, making him wanted to take care of the girl yet at the same time leaning on for advice and warm pat on the head. jinyoung did thought of confessing once but as he didn't see how their feelings were mutual, he decided to keep his feeling as nothing more than an admiration.

 

"it seems like you're mine, you're not, or you're mine" / giyoung, in the other hand, felt the same way. she'd never imagined to have a feeling for a younger guy, but honsetly, it was the first time there was someone who actually cared for her, supported her, stayed close to her even when she didn't show her best image. although jinyoung clearly stated that he came over for a project help, giyoung couldn't hep but thinking of having jinyoung by her side after a long tiring day became some sort of healing. however, the main question was did jinyoung treat her nicely because he had some kind of feeling for her or was it just because he was basically nice to everyone? they had been doing this more-than-a-friend-not-yet-boyfriend relationship for a year and nothing had changed. giyoung became more certain that jinyoung only saw her as an older sister, so was it better for her to just move on to her blind date partner? but honestly she would wait for jinyoung... or maybe she should just throw her pride and ask him first? well, giyoung was lacking experience in this area to begin with.
