She had the sea in her eyes.
It's a phrase that's been written over and over. This time, it was true. Her eyes were like the raging sea - literally. They were stormy and dark and livid and alive. She had eyes you could drown in, eyes that had an unfathomable depth to them and eyes with unexplored corners. Looking in to them was always a journey, and you never knew how you would end up or even where.
Mark met her three years ago while researching a story about illegal fishing somewhere in the coast of Busan. Everyone that he talked to in the area said the same thing; "Speak to Miss Kwon." So, he took his car. After more wrong turns than he cared to admit, he found her little cottage.
Miss Kwon turned out to be someone his own age. She sat on her porch, making fishing nets. At first she didn't want to talk. She just sat there, long eyelashes that framed her eyes as she looked down and ignored every question Mark put forward.
He left a little later.
She sighed in relief, he just didn't hear it.
The next day, he came back.
He came back again and again. It went on for almost a week, and he even started preparing to head back to the city. That's when she came by at his motel.
