Chapter 13
Ten“Eun Byul-ah, you are diagnosed with brain cancer.”
Even though I’d guessed that there was something definitely wrong with my body these days, hearing those words still made me surprised. I could feel my face grew pale and my hands grew cold. I balked my eyes, looking at the two guys in front of me. Both of them had their heads bowed down, avoiding to look at me. There were same expressions plastered on their face.
I forced out a bitter smile. I couldn’t deny that my heart was just broken into pieces. I hadn’t had my 17th birthday. I hadn’t done all the things I wished to do. I still need to win Yi Xing’s heart, but I didn’t even know how much time I had left.
Clenching my fists tightly, I opened my mouth to ask them that dreadful question.
“How much time I have left?” I asked them quietly. Kyuhyun Oppa looked at me and smiled sadly. He approached me and held my hands with his.
“Eun Byul-ah, you still have hope. With treatments and also operation, you can survive. I assure you. Please believe in me,” His grip tightened, as he tried to assure himself on those words too. I smiled back sadly.
“Oppa, please tell me. Is it really that serious?” His smile flattered and he looked at me with his gentle eyes.
“What I told you just now was the truth. You can survive if you take those treatments regularly. But we must do the operation within the next 3 months. The chance of you surviving will be higher if you are operated sooner,” he explained.
My older brother just solemnly looked at us and nodded his head. He had both of his hands clenched tightly against each other. He tried to look at me bravely but he failed miserably. I could see his hands were shaking.
On the other hand, Kyuhyun Oppa still held my hand tightly. But I knew that he still had something left to tell me.
“But?” I encouraged him to elaborate more. I knew the things he said just now were just the beginning. He looked surprised a bit. He might be never thought that I knew that there were something left.
“I always know that you were a smart girl.” He smiled sadly. “The operation has the success rate of 20%. But sadly, the after effects were unpredictable,” he sighed before continued. “You might lose some of your memories or may be all of them. We can’t predict what will happen after the surgery. We can just guess it.”
Hearing those words stunned me. I might forget all the important things in my life during these past years. I might forget about my family, my friends, and also about Yi Xing. It scared me that only one thing could change your life completely.
“You must do the treatment soon, Eun Byul-ah,” Dong Hae oppa scooted closer and put one of his hands on my shoulder. He squeezed it gently. “The faster you do the treatment; the chance will be higher too.”
“But oppa, the risks..” I choked on my words. Iknew that the disease that was spreading in my body needed to be treated as soon as possible. But is it worth the price? I midht sound silly but forgetting even a piece of my life made me think twice to d
