It was late at night, everyone was tired from dance practice. They hurried into their dorm to take a shower and sleep. They needed some rest from the consecutive activities they had. It was 4:00 am and they had to wake up at 7:00. They needed all the rest they could get so that they can survive through another day of hard work. Everyone showered and said goodnight and went into their rooms (FYI, ChanBaek, Kaisoo, HunHan, Kray, SuTao, and XiuChen are roommates). Everyone eventually fell asleep, except for one person. Baekhyun was awake and he was on his phone texting someone. Chanyeol was too exhausted so he didn’t notice that Baekhyun was awake. At around 5:00, Chanyeol opened his eyes, half asleep. He looked around the room and noticed it was empty. He wondered where Baekhyun was and figured maybe be was in the bathroom or something. He didn’t think much of it, so he went back to sleep. RING RING RING! Chanyeol opened his eyes feeling the drowsiness and he looked at his phone. The sunlight from the window blinded his eyes so he had to squint to adjust to the light. He looked around the room and noticed that Baekhyun was not there again. The bed was neatly made, like no one slept on it for the past night. Chanyeol got up from bed and went to brush his teeth and wash his face. He looked at himself in the mirror, he looked tired, he wanted to sleep a bit more. He went outside and say 'morning' to the members. They all looked so tired! He went to get a glass of water to drink. At that time, everyone was called to the living room by Suho, saying that they had something to discuss. Chanyeol and everyone else went to the living room and saw their manager whom rarely went to the dorm. Chanyeol scanned the room and he couldn’t find what he wanted to find. Baekhyun was nowhere in sight. Chanyeol frowned, where could he be? None of the members asked about Baekhyun’s whereabouts, they were all curious about why their manager is suddenly at their dorm. What did he need to talk about? “Okay, everyone, I have something to announce. Today, all your schedules are canceled because something important came up so all of you can have a day off and do what ever you want.” Everyone in the room was surprised, they all looked at each other and shrugged. The manager left the dorm and all the members got up. D.O. went to the kitchen to cook breakfast for the members. Kai followed him like a puppy to see what his hyung is doing. HunHan went to their room to cuddle sleep. Lay just stayed on the couch staring into space and dazing off. Kris looked at him and blew onto his neck. Lay shot up and said “Yahh!! Wu YiFan!!” Everyone who saw what happened chuckled. Suho got up and went to his room to read a book and Tao stayed on the couch and played his phone. Xiumin and Chen the TV and decided to watch something. Chanyeol was still waiting for someone, who was nowhere to be found. A little before breakfast, Baekhyun came in through the front door. It was 9:00 am. Chanyeol was to first to ask “Where were you?” everyone who was sitting at the table waiting for their breakfast to be served looked at Baekhyun. Baekhyun looked at Chanyeol and said “I was at the studio practicing.” Chanyeol was suspicious but what other thing could he think of? Anyways, after breakfast, Lay, Kai, Sehun, and Luhan went to the practice room to practice dancing. They wouldn’t take a break even when they could, they needed to improve. Not that the other members are not as hard-working, they want to have a break from working too hard. D.O, Kris, Suho, and Tao went shopping. Chen and Xiumin went to ride their bikes. Chanyeol wanted to stay home since he didn’t want to move around. Baekhyun had to do something so he also stayed at home. They were alone in the dorm. Chanyeol was in his room playing guitar on his bed. Baekhyun also walked in the room holding his phone and staring at it. Baekhyun was on his phone the whole time. Chanyeol was playing the guitar and was annoyed of the silence of the dorm besides the strums of the guitar. “Baekhyun-ah, what are you doing?” Baekhyun didn’t say anything, like he didn’t hear him. Chanyeol tried again “Yahhh, Baekkieee!!” Baekhyun looked up from his phone and said “Yes?” “What are you doing?” “Nothing.” Baekhyun placed his phone on the bed and walked to the kitchen to get something to drink. His phone blinked a few times. Chanyeol being a curious person went to look at Baekhyun’s phone. He saw multiple text messages from… Taeyeon?? Baekhyun and Taeyeon were close but they are texting each other often? Chanyeol heard footsteps and he jumped on his bed and started to strum his guitar like nothing ever happened. Baekhyun came into the room and went back to his phone. Chanyeol looked at Baekhyun smiling at his phone and he was suspicious of something. June 8, 2014 was a horrible day. EXO was practicing in the dance studio and all of a sudden their manager came in. he called Baekhyun to talk about something. Baekhyun followed. All the members took this as a opportunity to rest for a bit. Kris and Sehun was sitting on the floor leaning against the wall. Kai and Lay was still practicing (as always). Kris was just mesmerized by the way Lay’s body moved. Sehun was just spacing out looking at his Luhan drinking water and breathing heavily. Chanyeol stared at the door worried that something bad is going to happen. After a brief 30 minutes, Baekhyun came into the room looking depressed. EXO looked at Baekhyun with a confused look. The manager sighed and said “All of you continue practicing. Go back to the dorm when you finish.” All the members got up and started to dance. Chanyeol was not focused at dancing at all, he was glancing at Baekhyun the whole time. Baekhyun was spaced out and he danced many parts wrong. He was scolded by the members a little, but everyone knew something has happened so they held back and decided to let Baekhyun off the hook. The ride back to the dorm from practice was silence. It was either everyone was too tired to talk or they sensed the awkward atmosphere and didn’t dare to speak. Anyways, they arrived back to their dorms and after a tiring day at practice and a long interview, everyone fell right asleep. Chanyeol went to HunHan’s room to ask them about tomorrows schedule. He kinda regretted going in there. Luhan was on Sehun’s bed and Sehun was hugging him as they slept soundly. He quietly closed the door and walked to his room. Kai walked out of his room shirtless (like always) and asked Chanyeol “Do you know what happened today at practice?” Chanyeol shook his head. Kai said “Ohh, okay. Goodnight hyung.” Chanyeol said “Goodnight” and went into his room. Baekhyun was just in the shower and got out. Chanyeol sat on his bed and said “Baekhyun, do you have anything you want to talk about? Anything bothering you? You know I’m you best friend and you can talk to me about anything.” Baekhyun looked at Chanyeol’s worried face and said “No, its nothing. I'm alright. Don’t worry. We should sleep soon. We have to wake up early tomorrow. Goodnight Chanyeol-ah.” Chanyeol watched as Baekhyun went under his covers and closed the lights. Chanyeol was worried but he was tired, so he went to sleep too. That night, he dreamed about the first time he met Baekhyun. The cute boy who he became closest to and how he developed feelings for that said boy. That boy had an amazing voice and Chanyeol was attracted to that boy. He loved to hear him sing with that voice. If only he could hear it forever, he had always hoped that he could. He thought about the hard work they went through and finally they were able to debut. He was happy that he was able to debut with Baekhyun, that means that they could be together. But he always knew that he shouldn’t have those feelings  for Baekhyun but he can’t help it, he loved Baekhyun and  didn’t want him leave him in any case. He had this feeling of uneasiness the next morning. Like a bad thing is going to happen and he didn’t want it to happen. It was June 9, 2014. Just like Chanyeol predicted, something bad did happen. Something that broke his heart. SM Entertainment confirmed that Baekhyun and Taeyeon was dating. Chanyeol knew that something was wrong, why was Baekhyun and Taeyeon texting each other that much? Why was Baekhyun so happy when he is texting Taeyeon? Chanyeol didn’t want to accept the truth. He couldn’t stand it. EXO was shocked to hear the news. They all were confused about what they just heard. “Baekhyun is dating Taeyeon? For 4 months? What?” Sehun said in disbelief. Kris, Luhan and D.O. looked at Chanyeol with a worried and sad look. They knew that Chanyeol liked Baekhyun and they all thought that Baekhyun liked Chanyeol back, they were shocked to hear this news. Suho said “Umm, I guess none of you knew this then, judging from the looks on you face. Umm, so I guess we have to congratulate Baekhyun on his relationship.” Chanyeol went to his room and sat on his bed. He looked at the bed across from his and he smiled. Baekhyun was not at the dorm. He was called by the manager this morning again and he went out. Guess they were planning to publicize the relationship. Chanyeol smiled but a tear fell from his eye. He didn’t know why he was crying but he couldn’t stop. D.O. went in his room and said “Don’t cry. I know how you feel but you can’t cry, you are the Happy Virus!” D.O. hugged Chanyeol and Chanyeol cried on his shoulders, even though D.O. is way smaller that Chanyeol, he still could lend a shoulder. Kai and Luhan was standing outside of the door. Kai was jealous but he knew that Chanyeol needed someone so he forgave him this one time. At night, Baekhyun arrived at the dorm. He was hesitant to open the door, he knew that the members heard about the news. What he was worried about the most was Chanyeol, he was his best friend, yet he didn’t tell him something this important. He opened the door and was welcomed into darkness. The living room was dark but everyone was not asleep. They were in their rooms doing whatever. Baekhyun walked quietly to his room. The lights were off so he assumed that Chanyeol was already asleep. He opened the door as quietly as he can. He saw Chanyeol leaning against the wall, he wasn’t asleep. Baekhyun the lights and asked “Why didn’t you turn on the lights?” Chanyeol didn’t answer, instead he looked at Baekhyun with slightly red eyes. Baekhyun said “I assume that you heard the news about Taeyeon and I dating, and that is why you are ignoring me. Right?” Chanyeol didn’t say anything, he just stared at Baekhyun. Baekhyun said “Okay, I’m sorry. I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you. But even if you are my best friend, I don’t have to tell you everything, do I?” Chanyeol looked away, he was going to cry again. Baekhyun sighed and went to the bathroom to take a shower. He finished and saw Chanyeol in the same position as before. Baekhyun looked at him and sighed. “Chanyeol-ah, I’m sorry. Go to sleep now, it’s nothing that important anyways. Goodnight!” Baekhyun turned to face the wall with his back facing Chanyeol. Tears began to drip out of Chanyeol’s eyes again, he wiped them harshly. “I’m okay. I’m not supposed to fall in love with my teammate. It’s okay. I’m supposed to congratulate Baekhyun. I’m happy for him, but why are tears falling and it feels like my heart is breaking?” When there was light breathing coming from Baekhyun’s bed, Chanyeol knew that Baekhyun was sleeping. “Baekhyun-ah. I’m happy for you. Congratulation. I’m happy that you are with Taeyeon. I think that smile you had with Taeyeon was the happiest smile I ever saw from you. Knowing that you are happy with Taeyeon, I am happy for you. I know I never told you this but I Love You. I love you when I first saw you, when I heard your voice, and when he hang out. I will give up now, give up on you. I won’t be sad, I can’t be sad. I am the Happy Virus. I’m sorry that I loved you. I know that you will never love me the way I love you but just know that these feelings are real. Baekhyun-ah Saranghae. Just smile and I will be happy for you.” Baekhyun was actually awake, he heard eveything that Chanyeol said. Tears fell from his eyes onto the pillow. Mianhae, Mianhae, Mianhae Chanyeol-ah. Nado Saranghae! Hajiman nan mianhaeyo! I’m sorry.
