Oh Kang Seulgi (You’re Breaking My Heart)

Seulgi was considered to be the person who easily falls in love and at the same time dumb to whoever her suitor is.

Wendy has told her countless of times when some admirers decide to stop because she couldn’t catch on to the signals. Nevertheless, that didn’t seem to stop her current and surprisingly only suitor.

She would usually get two or three at the same time, but this is the first time she’s got only one. And not only that; this suitor is none other than her old ‘friend’, Park Sooyoung.

“Another one? That’s the third time this week Seulgi… and it’s just Wednesday!” says Wendy, looking at her friend who was twirling a yellow rose in between her fingers.

“I know right! Sooyoung’s seriously giving her all her effort” says Irene, who was standing next to Wendy with their hands intertwined.

Seulgi just kept mum and continued to twirl the little flower. She knows why the effort is too much, but she still wants to play dumb. She wants to know how far Sooyoung would go to get her again.

That’s right, again. She and Sooyoung have dated way back when they were still in high school, they were so in love and happy.

That was until Sooyoung decided to break up with her because she had to fly to the US in their last year. Least to say, Seulgi never believed in love since.

Seulgi knows that Sooyoung never intended for them to break up. She knew that Sooyoung never fell out of love for her, even now. But she just wants to be sure. Sure that Sooyoung would not leave her again.

That’s why she was doing this. Accepting all the gifts, but appearing as if she doesn’t know the hidden agenda.

“Why can’t you just go back together?” complains Wendy.

Seulgi sighs, “You know why…” she tells the two women.

“Yeah, but come on. I doubt she’ll leave again. I heard that she’s already looking for an internship here somewhere. Means she’ll stay.” Says Irene.

“Plus, it’s our last year. Don’t you want to replace that horrible last year of high school to a fun last year of college?” adds Wendy.

Seulgi faces the two women, “Trust me, I want to, but my heart is telling me not yet…”

The two other blondes could only sigh and continue walking with their friend. Both were aware of what went on and how broken Seulgi was when Sooyoung left, so they didn’t really discourage the girl much on what she’s doing.

The three of them went straight to their dorms, only to see a human sized orange-yellow bear sitting in front of Seulgi’s dorm.

“What the-“ Seulgi stares at the stuffed animal.

“Now that looks expensive” Wendy states and Irene just nods in approval, still staring at the orange-yellow abomination.

Seulgi sighs and approaches the bear to pick it up. As soon as she picks it up, a familiar scent fills her senses and unconsciously she hugs the stuffed animal.

She moves it to the side for a bit to open her door, but not letting go of the thing. She brings it inside and says goodnight to her unnie and best friend before turning back to face the human stuffed animal.

Seulgi brings it to her bed and once it sits there, she shakes her head at the bear before taking her phone out of her pocket to call the person responsible for the stuffed thing.

It takes a few rings before the person picks up the call, but how the person answered never failed to make Seulgi’s heart flutter and butterflies fly in her stomach.

“Yes my Seulbear?”

Despite the separation, when Seulgi accepted Sooyoung’s courting proposal, the young girl started calling her the way she did back when they were together. In addition, the tone Sooyoung used whenever she called her never changed.

The warmth was still there. The care was still there. The love was still there. So what was keeping Seulgi from saying yes?

Simple, Sooyoung hasn’t asked her the question yet.

As cliché as it sounds, Seulgi wants Sooyoung to directly ask that question with some light romantic stuff that Seulgi easily falls for; not that she hasn’t fallen for Sooyoung’s charms yet.

She’s way past that.

“Yah~” Seulgi whines.

There was slight chuckle coming from the other line before, “What? Too much?”

“Uh, Yeah! Last week those chocolates were too much already, now the roses and the gifts?” says Seulgi.

“Why? You don’t like it?” asks Sooyoung.

“No! it’s not that…” Seulgi quickly retaliates and realizes her mistake, “It’s just…”

“Just what?”

“I don’t know…” Seulgi mutters.

She heard another chuckle come from the person on the other line, “Well if you don’t don’t like it, that means you like it… right?”

“Well… yeah” Seulgi agrees, “It’s just that those are expensive you know…” she adds.

“I know” says Sooyoung.

“Well if you know, why do you keep buying it?” asks Seulgi, half-worried and half-annoyed with Sooyoung’s antics.

“Because you only deserve the best” answers Sooyoung.

Seulgi gets thrown aback from the answer and finds her face heating up. Because of this, she couldn’t find a way to retaliate the person.

She heard another round of chuckles, “You’re blushing~” says Sooyoung in a sing-song voice.

“No I’m not…” says Seulgi still blushing.

“Yes you are… I know you” says Sooyoung.

“That sounds creepy you know…” states Seulgi.

“It does if the person who said it doesn’t love you”

And Seulgi gets thrown aback again. It was silent over the phone for a moment before she heard Sooyoung speak again.

“It’s late Seulbear, you have class tomorrow morning right? Go wash up and sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow ok?”

“y-yeah” Seulgi stutters still dazed with the previous response.

Sooyoung chuckled again, “Goodnight my Seulbear~”

“Goodnight…” Seulgi answers.

“I love you my Seulbear”

“Goodnight Sooyoung”

Seulgi wants so badly to knock on Wendy and Irene’s door. Unfortunately, it was like 12 in the middle of the night. And she didn’t want to disturb her unnies, even though they don’t have classes tomorrow; only her.

She wanted to knock on the door, but hearing her Irene unnie moan out Wendy’s name already gave her a clear idea of what is probably happening inside. Least to say, she didn’t want to be the person to interrupt that.

So she called in the next best thing.

“Yes unnie?”

A sleepy Kim Yeri answered the door of her dorm and came face to face with a wide awake bear.

“Yeri-ah… Can unnie vent out on you?” Seulgi asks the little girl in Hello Kitty pajamas and holding a Hello Kitty plush.

“I guess… So long as I don’t get hurt” answers the now half-awake Yeri.

“Great!”
