PROLOGUE

How weird do you think can happen in one’s life? Do you have any idea? Well, that thought always cross in my head. Since I was a kid and up until now I don’t know what’s the answer with that. But one thing for sure my life is out of ordinary… yes, my life… I think it’s bizarre in some ways… Let’s just say it’s out of what you call norm.

My name is Park Namsang… that’s right, Namsang, just like the famous Namsang Tower… I was name after that tower. My parents said that place was so memorable to them so they decided to name me after that. How was it memorable? Well, you’ll understand later.

So how did I say my life is weird? Well that’s because of the family that I have. My family has a crazy and twisted connection. So okay, let me discussed how did I say this. 

First, since mom and dad were married they tried so hard to have their own child but after three years of their marriage and having no luck, they thought of an adoption. They went to adoption centers, institution by institution. But, they couldn’t find a child they want to adopt. Mom said she can’t feel anything when she looked at those children that they seen. She was waiting for that mother-wanting-to-take-care-of-a-child instinct to come out when she look at a child for the first time… but nothing. She just got more depressed because of it.

One day, to cheer my mom, Dad thought of taking her in a date. They went places to places, just enjoying their time together. The last place they went to was the Namsang Tower. Up there, they bought a lock and hooked it along with all the other locks that looked already like a wall of locks. People who went there always wish for a good relationship with their partners. But for mom and dad, they sincerely wish to have a child. Is that your first time hearing it? That was my first time hearing a wish like that at that place. Normally, you would wish something like that at a church… at a wishing well or a fountain… in a shooting star… or if ever you’re lucky to find a magical lamp or bottle where a genie would come out when you rub it. Oh, I’m being silly, right? Well, back to the story. They were walking at the parking lot and not much people were around. No…no…no…no… It was only them at the parking lot at that moment when they heard a crying baby. They looked around but they can’t find anyone else there. They were even creep out with the idea of that crying sound was from a baby ghost. They stride faster. The sound even became louder and louder as they get nearer to their car. Just a couple steps more, dad took out the car key from his pocket with a shaky hand. He was so surprised when he got to the driver side of the car to open the door. He saw a basket with a fully covered crying baby inside it. He can’t speak with so much shock. He was just gesturing to mom to come to his side. Mom took the baby out of the basket. Tears suddenly crawled out on her crimson cheeks as she danced to a lullaby to stop the poor baby from crying. It was autumn season and it was kinda cold that night. They walked around to look for someone missing a child or something. Almost an hour after wandering around, they decided to go to a police station to report what happen. The policeman looked at their records for a missing child reports but there’s nothing alike of the baby’s description. He filed a new report for the baby and told mom and dad to leave the child there after getting some personal details from them. He said that the baby will stay at government child care center for the moment. Mom asked the authority if the baby could stay with them until they found the parents of the child. Dad promise to take good care of the baby and will keep in touch. The policeman saw the sinc
