Meet

The court

“I think I’m in trouble” I whispered to myself, as I inspected my surroundings. To be honest I was gaping at the huge iron gate that separated me from my destination- the trainer’s court. It was a silly mistake on my part. I was instructed to stay as close to the court as possible, without attracting any sort of attention to myself. Obviously I failed to listen because here I was, gaining firsthand experience of the idiom ‘curiosity killed the cat’. What was specifically terrifying about my situation was the fact that the idiom might apply to me in the most literal sense.

Previously, all around me were students of art, for this was the Arts Trainer’s Court. It was a common system in which the trainers of the various idols and their groups imparted knowledge to those young commoners who had amazing talents and aspired to become idols themselves. There were various levels in this hierarchy. Those being tutored in the field of arts were all considered to be of the ‘A’ class, irrelevant of who tutors them. The other professions (taken up by people who were not blessed with talent) fall into the following categories of ‘B’ (building and construction- architects), ‘C’ (crime patrol- law enforcement), ‘D’ (doctors- healers) and ‘E’ (Extras- the odd jobs). The lowest among the class A’s were the ones who were tutored by the assistants of the trainers. The highest were the ones taught by the trainers themselves.

There was a group of people who did not fall under any of the categories, for they were the Royalty; the Idols. Being related to one automatically upgraded you to their level. The royal guards too were held with the highest of respect although they usually come from class C.

Let’s go back to my situation, shall we? All students of Class A come to the trainer’s court for their lessons every day. Today was a special day, for one of the idols had decided to visit the court and meet his old trainers. When such an event occurs, the students were usually removed from the premises for the safety of the idol. The students were not told who the person was, and they were shepherded into the cafeteria, all of them burning with excitement, passion and desperation to meet the idol. The only way to meet them was while the idol( along with a group of 4 guards) walked to the court or when they walked back to their automobile. The presence of a human chain made by the court guards ensured that the chances of meeting him or her were 1 in a million. I, due to personal reasons (that I shall reveal very soon), had to make sure that the rare probability of that meet remain as just that; rare. However the moment that one rumour reached my ears, that the royal guards were the Woodalchi( the elite group of guards among all royal guards who were assigned to first generation idols), I couldn’t keep my curiosity in. There was a possibility that the idol could be a member of Big Bang, SNSD or even DBSK; but that would be too much to hope for. However it didn’t stop me from attempting to slip through the gates, just to check out his mean of transportation. Although I had to make sure that I di
