Midnight After Four Years
11:53
Kyungsoo had been all over the city for the last month looking for his perfect cup of coffee.
He had been trying to avoid the small cafe on the side street that no one knew anymore. The place held too many memories for him and he was hoping to not cry anytime soon.
But if he was going to get his perfect cup of coffee in his favorite cafe, it might as well be tonight.
Tonight it was okay to cry.
But it was going to be a long night.
Kyungsoo couldn't remember the last time he had spent an entire day happy.
It had been a long time.
At some point in each day, his thoughts would catch up to him. While he was lying in bed waiting to finally fall asleep, they would crash into his head like waves during a storm.
The memories, the good times and the bad.
It hurt.
It hurt so much.
If only,
If only...
It was useless to think these sorts of things.
Kyungsoo knew this, and yet he is still learning how to forget them.
Those times were some of the happiest in his life but he would give up those memories to get rid of the bad ones.
The ones filled with tears and goodbyes; of parting ways; of disappearances; of too much pressure; of heavy shoulders and heavier hearts; of walking away; of deciding that it wasn't worth it anymore.
Of not believing in family any more.
Oh how Kyungsoo wished he could forget everything.
He didn't want to remember anymore.
But in the cafe, where Kyungsoo's life always seemed to take a pause,
There sat eight warm bodies that were filled with memories to match Kyungsoo's own.
So he sat with them.
Next to them.
And cried.
