Forever Young

True Friendship & Realizations

“No it can’t be…”

“I’m sorry to let you know this but we’ve done the tests and everything seems to point to the same thing…”

“But, that means… I can’t…”

“It doesn’t mean you can’t, it means you need to take care of your health more, and take exercises easier, or else your condition can complicate.”

“But that’s my life…” -You whispered again as your heart sank. -"This is my life..."

---

6 Months later

“Okay girls take your position!” –The trainer shouted.

The four of you took your designated position. The leader, Lin, nodded and counted and did the right dance moves. It was the peak of your training since the so awaited performance was approaching. After long endless months of practicing and vocal exercises your hard work was finally going to be shown to everyone.

“Time out everyone!” –The trainer clapped twice and shook her head in disappointment.

“_____-ah! What’s wrong with you… You’re too slow in the most important dance move!” –She said firmly.

“Sorry…” –You bowed as you heaved trying to catch your breath.

“We are almost there… Are you going to slack down when you’re almost over?”

“No of course not…!” –You stood straight and nodded. –“I’m going to do better… I’m sorry everyone.”

All your members stared at you, especially the leader, and the trainer crossed her arms and cocked her eyebrow.

“Alright! From the top!” –She kept her eyes on you until she made her way to the front of the whole group.

Lin took her place next to you and asked softly.

“You alright?”

You nodded and gave her a convincing smile and waited for the queue.

--

You gave it all in the rest of the rehearsal, you felt your chest pressured, but you still gave it your all.

“Girls great job! You are almost ready for the performance!” –Your trainer said as she put her arm around Lin’s shoulder.

You all cheered in satisfaction but the trainer pointed at you suddenly.

“_____-ah, you better keep yourself in shape in the next rehearsals. You can’t put yourself down in the next week.”

You nodded still catching your breath. “I won’t!” –You gave her the biggest smile you could manage.

Lin looked at you questioningly, and you grinned at her.

“It’s already getting late for lunch, go eat and let’s meet at 2 in the afternoon.”

The trainer said as she picked up her bags. All the girls were excited and began to get ready to hit the showers.

“Coming ____?” –Lin asked you as you searched for something in your bag.

You shook your head and tilted your head to her as you bent down.

“Not yet, I’ll catch up to you guys, you go first…” –You kept searching.

“Alright, see you later…” –She kept her eyes on you as she walked backwards to the door.

You looked back and waved at her until she disappeared on the door. The room was all empty now. You slid yourself in the wall until you hit the ground hissing in pain. You rubbed strongly your extremities and your breath became heavy because of the pressure the ache in your body was causing. You reached for your bag and kept searching for what you were looking for. The small plastic bottle reached your hands and you sighed in relief. You took the medication and gulped it down with water.

Taking what was supposed to be a relieving breath, you shut your eyes tightly as the pressure increased. Truth was, you weren’t feeling like yourself. And that was not good at all. With the little energy left in your whole body, you pushed yourself from the floor in hope to find some relief.

But your feet kept failing on you, and your vision was becoming blurrier by the minute. Alas you managed to step into the hall way, with your bag hanging from one of your shoulders and your other hand grasping into the soft layer of the wall.

Voices were begun to be heard, but they seemed to be so far away.

“____-ah!” –You heard one of the girls who were still on the building lobby, and right when you turned your face to the fainting voice, you lost all conscience.

---

Your eyelids were so heavy on you, only low groans escaped your lips. Your throat was so dry as if you hadn’t had a drink of water in weeks, and that caused for you to choke on your own breath and cough uncontrollably.

As you tried to get up, with your eyes still closed, you felt some comforting arms caress and pat your back.

“___. Here. Drink this slowly.” –Lin’s voice sounded, making you attempt to open your eyes slowly.

You grasped weakly on the glass and slurped on the wonderful refreshing liquid.

“T-thanks…” –You looked up at her with a small grin, however, her face was nothing but happy.

“How are you feeling? Everyone’s worried sick.”

You couldn’t recall much of what had happened, all you remembered was that horrible feeling you got after practicing, and suddenly you were here with her.

“I’m okay…” –You tried to reassure her.

She pursed her lips and let out a small anxious breath.

“____. You never told us…” –She said sadly.

“About what?” –You leaned back as you asked, since you were feeling a bit woozy.

“About your condition… Why didn’t you tell us?”

Sheepishly you looked away; you never intended to tell anyone about it, since it would only lead to people belittling you. But reality was that it was bound to happen. You were exceeding yourself and you knew it.

“I’m fine Lin-ah… This was just a little mishap and it won’t happen again. Doctors already told me I can still manage to do this, I-I just need to take care of myself.”

She narrowed her eyes and glared at you like a concerned mother.

“And you were?” –She shook her head and sat in the corner of the bed. –“___. If you would’ve told us about this we would’ve talked to our manager and trainers and take it easy on you… You’ve been under a lot of pressure, and we’ve all been pressuring you even more…”

You shook your head in denial, that’s exactly what you didn’t want.

“No… I wouldn’t be able to stand that. How can I just stand and take things easier, while you guys work harder.”

“This is not about us ____. We care so much for you, and if we lose you it won’t be the same… If we need to take a break every once in a while because you need it, then we’ll work things out and we’ll do it. If you need to finish up rehearsing earlier because you can’t take it anymore then we will. If you stay behind, then we’ll just stop and come get you. Because we’re a team, and we have to work on everyone’s pace ___-ah. Don’t you get it?”

You looked down to your lap and held back your tears. Lin, however, didn’t hesitate on ushering you into her embrace and drawing circles on your back.

“I just want you to be alright… You’re my best friend, and if something happened to you, I wouldn’t be able to stop blaming myself…”

Slowly your arms encircled her and the tears from the pressure you had been holding for so long begun to fall.

“I’m sorry…” –Was all you could say.

She pulled away to face you, she was normally a person who wouldn’t cry in front of others, but you could tell that her eyes were puffier than before.

“I already talked to the manager and CEO, and you won’t be performing next week though…” –Lin said regretfully.

You close your eyes and nodded slowly. You were really looking forward this comeback, so she put her hand on your arm and tried to comfort you.

“There will be more performances in the future… I know so.”

A little smile tugged in the corner of your lips.

“I’ll personally take care of you if I need to. Even if I need to baby you up…!” –She hugged you carefully as she chuckled.

You couldn’t help but to smile at the caring girl next to you.

“Lin-ah~ I can take care of myself…” –She pulled away to face you with a sarcastic expression. –“Okay, I will take better care of myself from now on…”

“You better! Cuz there’s someone who won’t leave me alone asking for you. I wouldn’t be able to imagine what he’d do if something worse had happened to you.” –She said standing up to grab her phone.

“Who?” –You tilted your head.

She narrowed her eyes as a smug smile drew on her lips.

“Don’t ask me like you don’t know… Come on ___-ah.” –She sat on the seat in front of your bed casually as she crossed her legs and played with the phone.

“Lin~ Tell me!” –You were honestly curious, maybe being unconscious for who knows how long made you have slight memory loss or something.

“He’s always like, where’s noona, how’s noona? They won’t let me see noona…” –She carried on as she carelessly looked at her phone ignoring you.

Another smug smile drew on her lips as her eyes fell on you once again.

“Don’t tell me you two are dating?” –Her question actually sounded like she was anticipating something.

“No… Wait! Who are you talking about anyway?”

She stood up and neared you, making sure she spoke softly for only you two to hear.

“Youngjae…”

It suddenly hit you; you felt a slight struck of electricity in your heart. He was one of the closest guy friends you had from the company, even though you knew there was something else you were feeling that you were fighting against, you immediately spoke up to deny it.

Immediately you scoffed. “Lin… Please…”

You looked away in denial, as she kept that annoying grimace.

“You do like him…”

“He’s like a little brother to me Lin-ah…” –You snapped back.

She sat again in the corner of your bed, with that teasing smile and said softly.

“But he’s not. And if you ask me, the way you two treat each other… Even if you try to deny it, is not like siblings.” –She put her phone up to you, and smiled as she wiggled her eyebrows. –“Do you want to talk to him? He’s been dying to know about you.”

You knew what she was doing, and even when you were still out of energies to discuss, you pushed the phone away from you.

“I’m tired Lin… please let me sleep. I need to rest.”

You heard her mumble and scoff, and the side the bed she was at move. Covering yourself with the warm blanket you shut your eyes and tried to just get every given thought of the boy of your mind. It was not possible, was it?

Teaser of the next and Final Part

“Are you sure you’ll be fine alone?” –Lin asked for the umpteenth time.

You nodded as you adjusted the covers of your warm bed, you were finally released from the hospital and your fellow group mates were ready to leave for one of their performances, without you of course.

As always Lin always stayed back to keep an extra close eye on you before she left you alone, she just wanted to make sure.

“I will! Just go! You’ll be late.” –You smiled reassuringly. Although you were feeling extremely saddened by the fact that you weren’t able to do what you loved to the most.

A knock interrupted Lin’s thoughts and she quickly left to see who it was. Curiosity over came you, for the other girls had already left earlier.

You heard a voice, and a very familiar one at that. And your heart almost jumped to your throat.

Lin suddenly peeked on the door with her infamous teasing grin on her lips.

“___-ah… You got company…”

You stopped yourself before you could just bury yourself in the covers. The boy looked good in those simple jeans, his hair was slightly up and he wore a blue jean jacket that combined with his pants oh so well. Swallowing really hard, you waved sheepishly at him trying to avoid Lin’s burning stare.

“Noona!” –He quickly ran to you and kneeled on the side of your bed looking up at you like a lost puppy. –“I wanted to see you earlier, but they wouldn’t let me come see you in the hospital. Are you okay?”

He quickly said without stopping to take a breath. As always your smile couldn’t be helped, and you nodded as you pressed your lips containing the smile that wanted to grow by the seconds he just looked up at you.

“Will you stay over for the afternoon Youngjae?” –Lin asked as if it was nothing.

The boy averted his sight quickly at her and nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes! I already told the boys I’d be here with noona.” –He turned to you with that killing eye smile of his, and you just directed your glare at Lin whose smile kept mocking you.

“Well, I think you’ll be fine then ___-ah. Take care of her while we’re gone.”

With the last farewells she turned to leave, and Youngjae still had his ecstatic smile on you. It became harder to fight against those feelings every day when he’d always be like this. It was becoming unbearable.

I really hope this chapter was enjoyable for you guys.

As you read in the teaser, little Youngjae will be on the next one. It will only have one more chapter though ^^

If you wonder what age the girl is, I really have no specific one in mind. ^^ She could be months or a year older or more if you desire. (: However you like.

I'm his noona so I can't really see myself writing about him being older than me. haha

Nontheless, I hope you guys liked this chapter! :D

It's my first Got7 story, so yeah I'm a bit insecure about it.
