Radio Heart

“I hoped you all enjoyed that because that was 'Gun' by the lovely Nine Muses, which is a song from their most recent comeback and one of my new all time favorites for the next couple of months. And hopefully I'll see a few new fans pop up within that time as well. However, that's the second to last song before it's nine o'clock and you know what that means, it'll be 9 Songs in a Row Request Hour where the radio will be run by you, so get your phones ready to text and call me at 999-873-6543 for your all time favorites. Again, that is 999-873-6543 for music, your music, so get ready because we have one last song to go before the hour is yours,” Hoya gave with a chuckle, talking into the microphone as he selected one last song before he had to give up control to his viewers.

Quickly finding G-Dragon's new album on his computer, he quickly hit a few buttons the machine in front of him, he continued, “And here's Junjin University's favorite song at the moment: 'Crooked' by G-Dragon. Hope you all enjoy.”

Hearing the familiar opening of what happened to be the most popular song going around the campus at the moment, Hoya couldn't help but let out a soft sigh as he leaned back into his chair until he was almost situated horizontal along his desk and chair. Staring at the moldy ceiling above him, the mold being a testament to how old this building was and how much history Junjin Radio had since being created in the nineties when Junjin somehow became home to a popular boy group that had taken the world by storm. So much so, that some of his classes that Hoya took actually highlighted the time as a time for change and reform among campus, creating history for Junjin University.

But what Hoya couldn't get was how could one pop group do so much, and a boy gorup at that. Especially to a musically inclined campus already, that Hoya couldn't help but call bull on that.

However, he wasn't going to say anything to his teachers because he didn't want to rock the boat with any of them. Because for some odd reason, all of them were so nostalgic of the time that he didn't want them to think he was disrespecting them or anything like that. Especially since the last thing he needed was for them to hate him because he didn't exactly follow their beliefs, and with a few teachers having the habit of playing favorites, he didn't want any to be unforgiving towards his sentiments. He didn't want to see his more unreasonable teachers become even more so and then be more cruel when it came to grading his assignments.

He was just lucky to receive a 'C' in 'Art Appreciation' for running his mouth, so it was best that he kept his thoughts to himself. At least in that department that is, because as much as Hoya seemed like the person that didn't speak a lot, he surprisingly had a lot to say on radio and even more surprising than that, he was also one of the most sarcastic characters a person could meet. So it was better for him to at least have some selective power on making sure he didn't do anything stupid to ruin his time in college.

Hearing a familiar beep from one of the machines in front of him, the sound interrupting his thoughts and signaling that the song was going to end soon, Hoya quickly pressed another button before stating, “Hope you guys liked the song, but now it's up to you for the next hour or so to select your favorites and rule the radio, so request away.”

Looking over to the Radio's phone system that was placed next to the radio equipment, Hoya silently waited for the small screen to light up with a text or two or for the phone to ring with someone's request. But not having to wait long for one to come in as it only took a few seconds for a text to be shown across a small screen, the number was familiar enough that it had Hoya smiling a bit as he read the short message.

Play Hug by DBSK please! - L

Feeling a bit nostalgic from the request, especially since the requester wanted them to play a song that he had enjoyed in his high school days, Hoya gladly put it on. Never mind the fact that he would have play anything by the guy or girl with the one letter name that usually accompanied those texts, always seemed to request a song from DBSK, JYJ, or TVXQ without fail.

Chuckling a bit as he got the song ready, Hoya couldn't help but wonder how much of a fanboy or fangirl the person was to constantly request from those groups. It almost seemed as if no one else existed to them during this hour, because when Hoya got to do other shows that required their audience, he would get anonymous texts sent by the same user commenting on his music choices. And while the user wasn't that big into hip hop, he was partial to most of the acoustic rock music and girl groups that Hoya would listen to when he wasn't feeling his favorite genre. But despite that, it seemed as if anything that had been a part of DBSK ruled above anyone else.

So much so, that Hoya kind of thought it was cute in a way, especially since he didn't get a lot of listeners as radio was a dying medium.

But quietly finishing up with the sound board, making sure everything was okay, he spoke into his mic, before pressing play, “Oh look, we have our first request of the day and by one of our show's regulars too. L, you must really love your DBSK to request as much as you do, but good thing I and a good amount of listeners like DBSK too. But here's 'Hug' and I hope everyone enjoys some high school nostalgia as they listen.”

Play Hug by DBSK please! - L

Myungsoo quickly typed into his phone before he was hitting send a moment later, smiling as he did so. Because even though a good amount of people listened to this block of radio shows, Myungsoo was one of the few to actually request songs. And whenever he did so, he always made sure to ask for songs he liked, usually always requesting to listen to old school DBSK or JYJ and TVXQ, because being able to listen to them on the radio was much different than just listening to them on his stereo in his room.

And it didn't help that the radio host was always so nice about his choices, never telling him to stop asking for the same songs or telling him he needed to request for others because his other listeners were getting bored of hearing the same DBSK songs every week, something of which he really appreciated.

It also didn't help that whenever he texted his requests, Hoya would always do this little laugh before playing the music that he wanted, a laugh that left him feeling a bit weak in the knees. A chuckle that essentially created his whole crush on the radio host, despite the other not knowing who he was at all, unless you counted the code name he gave.

But Hoya seemed to be such a nice guy on the air, being sweet to those that called in and never making fun of people like the other hosts did, despite having a bit of a sarcastic humor here and there. And that was just what he knew of the guy on air, because at school, Lee Howon aka 'Hoya' was one of those boys that most people would want to bring home to their moms (and Myungsoo would totally love to do that because hi mom was really awesome and he couldn't help but think that she would like the older boy too) and he just seemed like he never seemed to do anything overly wrong. He was athletic, smart, and he liked some of the same music Myungsoo liked and Myungsoo couldn't help but fall for such an amazing guy, even if the other didn't even know that he existed.

Myungsoo didn't even mean to develop a crush on the older boy, but somehow, it seemed impossible not to do so.

And while Myungsoo knew that it was crazy to fall in love with someone that you barely knew, Myungsoo couldn't help it. Hoya was nice and perfect and it was kind of hard not to fall for him, especially since the guy could be -ugly and people would still like him, Myungsoo included.

There was just something about him and the only way Myungsoo felt comfortable enough talking to him was through text and using an alias to ask for songs. And maybe someday he would eventually become comfortable enough to talk to him in person.

But typing another short message into his phone before hitting send once again, he texted:

Thank you! You're the best. - L

Today was definitely not the day just yet.

“, I'm going to be late, I'm going to be so-so late.” Hoya frantically muttered as he made his way through campus, running around trying to find building 67 for his next course, but unable to find the building as he ran. This part of the campus being a bit of a maze to him since he wasn't used to having classes in this section of the university, despite being a dance major himself.

Looking down at his watch, only to curse when he had noticed that he only had about five minutes to get to class, he couldn't help but pick up the pace, eyes narrowing a bit more as he continued to scan the area for his class. Only for him to not watch where he was going, too busy looking everywhere else but in front of him to notice two boys walking his way, one of them with a cup of steaming hot coffee, before he had felt something hot against his chest.

So hot that he couldn't help but screech in response, chest burning from the scalding hot temperature of the liquid and his shirt was now completely ruined by the drink.

Anger rising at the thought of the other not watching where he was going, too busy talking to his friend really notice Hoya walking towards him, Hoya couldn't help but turn his attention towards the two, face irate as he yelled, “What the flying , this ing burns! Why the hell can't you watch where you're going?”

Ignoring the way the other's face turned white at his words, the other stuttering out even more apologies as he dropped his cup and grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe away the brown liquid from his chest, Hoya couldn't help but get angry even more. Especially since the other's touch was not only painful against his reddening chest, but he was also ruining his shirt even more by trying to get the stain out. Gritting his teeth at the slight pain, the stain, as well as the fact that he was going to be even more late to his class, Hoya couldn't help but push the other away and yell, “Geez, just stop touching me! You're just making things worse!”

Feeling properly chastised, the other could only stare at him with dark brown eyes, so wide with hurt, guilt, and a myriad of other emotions that Hoya couldn't exactly place but just made him angrier, especially since his chest felt as if someone had thrown a batch of hot water on him, he ignored the other's look. Only to get even more mad when the other started to apologize again, voice shaky as he muttered, “I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that, I'm sorry. Please forgive me! I didn't mean to hurt you, it was an accident... I-I'll pay for your shirt, I'm sorry. I'm sorry!”

Not really caring that the other was apologizing and that the incident was more of an accident than on purposed, Hoya couldn't help but continue to round on the other, words harsh, “I don't care! You should have been watching where you were going, especially since my chest feels as if it's on fire! Hasn't anyone told you to be aware of your surroundings, especially when you're carrying something hot around. It's as if you were born in a barn or something!”

Seeing the other bite his lip in response and his hands tremble at his words, Hoya couldn't help but ignore his traitorous thoughts that noticed how attractive the other boy was. His mind subconsciously taking in the boy's slender form, the charmingly boyish face, and a set of eyes that were so dark that they were darker than the darkest chocolate and they shined with this innocence that made him want to corrupt the other boy. Something of which he didn't feel often, but with the way the boy was looking at him, so close to tears, Hoya couldn't help the thought that ran through his mind, even if he was too angry to take much notice of it just yet.

Ignoring the other's kicked puppy look, he could only continue to yell, “I don't care if you're sorry! Not only did you most likely gave me first degree burns but your ruined my shirt too. Never mind the fact that you've made me late to my next class, so please, save your apologies because it's not-”

Only to be interrupted by the other's friend, who probably looked just as irate as he did, who yelled, “What the man? He said he was sorry. No need to ream him like that when it was just an accident. He didn't mean to spill his coffee on you and it wasn't like you were watching where you were going either. You basically ran into him if I remember correctly, so it's not like it was his fault in the first place. So stop trying to make him feel like , especially when he feels like that already. Jeez, didn't anyone teach you about manners, you idiot fu-”

“Sungyeol! Stop, please, it's not his fault. I'm the one that ran into-”

Surprise filtering across his features, Hoya didn't expect the shorter boy to interrupt his friend or for the other to angrily round on him next, lips drawn in line from how pissed he was as he fumed, “Myungsoo-ah, stop it. If it was your fault, then he was just as much at fault. He was the one that ran into you, not the other way around and I know you feel like for spilling your coffee on him, but after talking to this jerk, it seems like he deserves it. So stop trying to make it seem as if it was all your fault when it wasn't.”

Seeing the shorter boy shake his head, obviously upset that he had burned the other, Myungsoo couldn't help but softly protest, “B-but I should have been more careful, should have been watching where I was going too, it's really not his fault. H-He's just upset that I hurt him and I-I-” before he was turning his attention to Hoya, taking in the large brown stain along his shirt, before he was almost swearing, “Fudge, we should probably take him to the Wellness Center... Sungyeol, why aren't we taking him to the Wellness Center, I burned him-”

Seeing Myungsoo's eyes widen with worry and guilt for him, Hoya couldn't help but feel a little bad at what he had said to the other student. Only for Sungyeol to ruin that a moment barely a moment later when the other quickly muttered something about how they should just leave him be because he could fend for himself that Hoya couldn't help but sneer, done with the two “I can take care of it myself, I don't want your clumsy asses to kill me on the way there, so don't even bother,” before he was walking away.

Only to hear some rustling coming from behind him, Myungsoo most likely holding the other boy back, that he couldn't help but sigh as he turned his head to call over his shoulder, voice still a bit harsh, “My shirt was from 'Express' and I'm a size large, give it to me by Friday. I'll be at the library at 4 o'clock, don't be late. And if you get me some fake, I'll know,” before he continued on his way, class suddenly forgotten.

He seriously hoped the nurse had something good for him, because his chest definitely hurt like a ; what a wonderful start to the semester...

Not.

Chapter 1: I like this story already, but was their first meeting such a fiery one? No, misunderstandings to come and I'm definitely anticipating the next chapter. Sungyeol will be likely be the typical best friend and overprotective friend towards so I'm eager to find out how Hoya and Myungie will get closer. :)
