She stood outside the door, hand on the key which had been inserted into the keyhole. All that was left to do was to turn it. Her heart pounded fast. What if she doesn't want to see me? She thought. What if she has already moved on? Insecurity was attacking her in every direction possible. She swallowed her saliva before she took in a deep breath. Gently, she turned the key, successfully unlocking the door. Her heart was beating even faster than before.

She opened the door.

The house was almost pitch dark, other than that bit of light from the road lamps that shone through the windows, and awfully silent. For a moment, she didn't know what to do. Should I call out to her? Taeyeon wondered. But she decided against it. Carefully, she closed the door and removed her shoes, setting it neatly at the side, just like how she used to do, before all of those had happened that is.

She let her eyes travel to every corner of the dimly-lit house. It was all too familiar, yet at the same time, not so familiar. She stood there for a while, feeling like a stranger in a place that was supposed to be the most familiar to her. She was too deep in her thoughts to hear the almost unnoticeable sound of metal chain hooks clinking against each other, approaching her. She almost jumped when she felt something furry brushed past her ankle. Ginger. She froze when she finally caught sight of the little black toy poodle which was wagging its tail happily. She hesitated, before she pointed her index finger at it. "S-sit." Tears found their way to her eyes when the toy poodle obeyed as it kept its eyes on her, tongue hanging out adorably. She slowly knelt down on a knee beside the dog, feeling the soft fur as she patted it. "I thought you would have forgotten me," she said, before she used a hand to wipe away her tears. Her thumb the toy poodle's nose bridge, she couldn't help but to smile. And then, that smile faded as she cupped the dog's face, eyes locked. "Where's...mommy?"
