Foreword
Sunggyu, a Transparent up for sale, looked around the crowd for the thousandth time that day. It was the annual slave picking festival for the Holy Sanctum families. By custom, it is the family's youngest member's responsibility to choose out their soon to be Transparent. Sunggyu felt a light nudge on his left shoulder, causing him to avert his eyes from the crowd of elegantly dressed people.
"No staring. Know your place, filthy trash." The auction seller warned, spitting on the ground in front of Sunggyu. Attempting to hold in his anger, the young Transparent closed his eyes and took big breaths, calming himself down.
Slowly, his eyes opened to once again probe the crowd of his soon to be master. No sooner as he done so, an unfamiliar voice called out his number. As a Transparent on sale, they were all assigned plaques with numbers to pin onto their torn up shirts.
"That one! Number 57!"
Sunggyu glanced down at his shirt; it had indeed been his number that was called. Surprised that he would be picked during the first hour of sales, the brown haired man looked over to the auctioneer, who had the same expression of surprise that could rival his own. After a loud clearing of his throat, the man raised his microphone to his lips.
"Number 57 going once, twice, three times! Sold to the Lee family!"
There was clapping throughout the crowd, although none sounded sincere. That was the problem with the Holy families, they never sounded sincere. A small group of people stood up from their seats, heading closer to the stage. Sunggyu was suddenly pushed to the edge, where he would meet with his
new captors.
"Please unbind him." The same voice that called Sunggyu's number had asked the guard leading him to the end of the room. Soon Sunggyu was able to feel his wrists free of the handcuffs that hand bound them together for the past hour. He met eyes with the man who had chosen him.
"Hi, I'm Howon."
