Gong Minji

It’s in the middle of winter. I fix my jacket so it covers my neck well. I walk with my camera hung around my neck. I walk to estate agent around my house in Gwangju to find a rent house in Seoul. Why? Because it’s easier for me to go to publisher.

“Annyeonghaseyo,” I said to the estate officer as soon as I enter the office.

“Annyeonghaseyo, please sit down,” he said. A good thing, there is no one now. I hate being outside for long at night in the middle of winter. The reason is clear here, because it’s winter and it’s night. I really hate cold.

“Ah, Minji-ssi, we got a great house for you. The brochure came this morning,” he said just before I said my intention. Well, I always come here right after I am back from publisher.

I take the brochure and read it carefully. The first thing I see in the brochure is number that’s followed by won. Yeah, that’s right, the price. Being cheap is important. I am just a writer of publisher who work part time as writer in TV broadcast. I don’t have enough money to rent expensive house. Well, the price is quiet cheap, it’s cheaper than what I expected.

“It’s cheap,” I said. The officer nod proudly. I then continue reading the brochure. There is a big room, kitchen, refrigerator, complete staffs. It’s nearly impossible to get a cheap price for renting a complete nice house. Willing to share house with 6 other people.

“Share house? Basically I will just rent a room?” I asked. The officer nod.

“But it’s a bit different than just rent a room. You live in proper house, just you need to livr with 6 other people,” he said. But I don’t like being around with people, especially noisy people.

“Do you want to take it or not?” he asked again. Well, I am not sure I can find any other cheaper place to stay.

“I do,” I said it. Well, let’s just hope I can get my privacy time 24/7.

“Are you sure about this?” My band’s member asked me while help me pack my things. I just nod my head slightly.

“This apartment slowly become annoying with those crazy girls who purposely live around,” I said. I lived in a proper apartment. The real reasons I move out from this apartment are, first, many crazy girls who I don’t know greet me in annoying way in the morning. When I go out from the room, 2-3 of them will stand outside my apartment and give me cakes or chocolate or whatever is it. I hate sweet. And I hate girls who act sweet. And Second, my real intention is to get away from company. This apartment is rent by my company for me. Living here is one of my CEO’s way to keep me under his eyes. He interfered too much with my life. I hate it.

“But living in new house, especially sharing house won’t give you any better situation,” he said again.

“Choi Jonghun, I know you will be there whenever I need you, don’t worry,” I said.

“That’s why I am worry, stupid,” he said.

“Well, I rent it under your name. No one will know. Besides I am the last person who rent it, right? Ah, and I heard there are many cute girls who live there too. You will have better access to meet them,” I said.His expression suddenly become bright. He is really easy person.

Well, let’s hope other 6 people won’t interfere my life.

Employees’ residence have to be under 3 km distance from the office.

That’s what written on information board in my office. I work as sounds director in advertisement agency. Because of that it makes me walking around this residence. It’s quiet environment. There are many big house around here. I am still amazed, the price of living here is really cheap. Well, maybe it’s because we are sharing house with six other people. Living with new people I don’t know is hard for me. I really like clean stuffs. I get sick easily around dirty surronding.

“Excuse me, I am looking for a house in this address,” I asked to a woman. She has a short red brownish hair. She wears a pair of round glasses. She brings a big backpack. She then looked at the paper that I hold.
