A biological contamination was the cause of the deaths, violence, and despair. Humanity was threatened to the edge of existence. The infected turned into bloodthirsty monsters and hunted the healthy.

In the midst of all the riot and violence, one fortress stood. In there lived a girl, a girl who had lost her soul.

In the distance, a pack of human like creatures charged, whipping up a cloud of dust. Their bodies spasm as they ran, absolutely hideous. Their raw skin yellow were covered in gashes and puss filled bubbles, their faces full of insanity.

“Please let us in! Please, I beg of you!"

"No."

The man struggled to defend himself, but only to yell out in pain as he was knocked to the ground. The pack immdiately crowded on top of him, ripping off his limbs, tearing his guts open, and gouging out his eyes. He died with two bloody holes on his face, where his eyes should have been. His mouth hung open, full of horror and agony.

The woman screamed as she witnessed her husband's tragic death. She dropped to her knees and senselessly threw the baby towards the packful of bloodthirsty beasts, but the tiny piece of meat wasn't nearly enough to satisfy their cravings of flesh. When they ripped the poor child to pieces, the human like creatures turned to her. On all fours, one grinned, showing off his bloody teeth before pouncing on her. She lost the strength to resist. After letting out one last wail of despair, her neck was torn and blood spurted from a horrifying wound. Her skin dangled from its mouth. Such messy eaters they were, spilling gore and intestines onto the ground. Their faces were covered in blood and chunks of flesh stuck in their jagged teeths. Moments later, the creatures filled their stomach, leaving nothing but bones and segments of human remains on the dirt ground.

They gazed up at the girl in the tower but showed no sign of aggression. They waved and grinned like crazy people before trotting away into the distance.

No feelings were present in her heart. It was nothing big to fuss over. After all, this kind of tragedy happened everyday. Never once will she let anyone in, but when a group of boys gather around her fortress, the unbelievable will happen.
