Eternity

Love Locks

You walked hand-in-hand with Seungri through the streets of Paris, France. A place you had only dreamed about visiting was made into a reality as you two were celebrating your five happy years of marriage. Every aspect of it was planned and organized by Seungri, who wanted to make sure every second of your time there would be memorable, knowing how badly you wanted to go there someday.

"Look over there!" You pointed excitedly towards a bridge where several tourists were gathering, but you knew exactly why. "Can we go over a check it out?" You look up at your husband. You almost felt like a little kid, jumping up and down in excitement, which Seungri probably was reminded of since he chuckled.

"Alright, alright. Of course we can, you silly." He says while pinching your nose before wrapping an arm around your shoulder tightly. "You're too cute for my own good."

After what seemed like forever for you, you two finally reached the top of the bridge, all the while up your eyes were glued to the millions of colorful locks secured onto the railings of the bridge. Pont des Arts, the bridge that crossed over the River Seine was the destination for tourist couples as they'd write or engrave their names into their locks, attach it to the railing and throw away the key into the river as a way of representing the strength of their love for eternity. You had always found the gesture romantic and had even forced Seungri to do one with you in Seoul at the top of the Namsan Tower. But it had always been a dream for you to do it in Paris.

You turned to Seungri with glistening puppy dog eyes, ready to ask him but he was already shaking his head, making you frown.

"We've already done one in Seoul, do we have to do it again?" He asks, already cringing at the thought. "You know how much I dislike this type of stuff..."

"And YOU know how much I love this type of stuff!" You retort and cling onto his arm, hoping the added affection will soften him a bit. "Please, honey. I really want to have one here. Just one little one is fine. We don't even have to put our names on it."

"Aigoo, look at my arm! It has goosebumps all over it because of this." He shows you his arm in his usual dramatic fashion while protesting, "I'm not doing it again. You're probably not even going to see ever again after we leave tomorrow."

"But this is what I wanted to do the most out of everything here!" You still fought back, not understanding why he was being so difficult about it. You knew he hated cheesy stuff like this, but he would usually give in after a few minutes. "Why are you being like this?"

"Just forget it. Let's move on. We still have a tour at 3 PM, if we don't keep moving we'll be late." He suddenly ends the conversation and begins walking off the bridge on his own. You felt so torn and disappointed that the one thing you had wanted to do in Paris, he didn't even try to understand. And as you had no choice but to follow after him, it had left a bitter taste in your mouth for the rest of the day.

As much as you didn't want such a small thing to ruin your trip, it did. Because in fact, it wasn't small to you. It may have seemed a bit silly to others, but this was a moment you had been waiting for your whole life. To write your name on a lock with your significant other and throw away the key into the river. You thought that it was a simply request, but it appears not as your husband was not at all willing to bend. Don't be mistaken, you were grateful that he had planned this entire trip and paid for it with the money he had saved up... but you couldn't help but be disappointed with him.

You two had been quiet with each other the whole morning, neither of you knowing exactly what to say to the other besides the simple questions like "are you ready to go" or "what do you want to eat". And before either of you knew it, it was already a few hours before you had to leave for the airport, giving you just enough time to visit one more place.

"Where would you like to go?" You attempt to rekindle the awkward situation while grabbing onto his hand. He looks down at you, the bags under his eyes looking a bit darker than usual, but surprisingly he shows you an excited smile.

"Follow me."

You couldn't help but give him a confused look when you two reached the foot of the bridge, the same bridge you were on the other day. The whole trip here, he wouldn't say anything or give you the slightest hint of what he was up to.

"What are we doing here?" You ask while your eyes glanced over the locks, "I thought this would be the last place you'd want to be before we left..."

"But it's the only place you'd want to see, right?" He asks with that same excited smile, his attitude making a complete 360 degree turn from this morning and yesterday. "I want you to do something for me."

"What...?" You ask hesitantly, but your heart was already quickening it's pace in anticipation.

He takes out his hand in his pockes and dangles five keys in front of you, each of them reflecting off the sunlight.

"There's five locks on the bridge... I want you to find each one of them." He says with a proud grin as your jaw drops.

You take a look around you and just see the thousands upon thousands of locks hanging from the railings. The feat seemed impossible.

"What is this, 'Running Man'? I can't find five locks amongst all of these!"

"If you don't find them, that means you don't love me enough." Seungri states making you roll your eyes at him.

"Lee Seunghyun!" You say with such authority that you see him shrink slightly.

"Fine, fine. You're no fun." He pouts and walks off to one section of the railing, "I put them all together anyways, since it'd be hard to find them otherwise..." He says as his eyes scan over the many different locks until they stop on a set of them. He points at them before turning away, leaving you on your own again, "Read them here. I'll be standing waay over there because this is too embarrassing!"

You watch him curiously as he exaggeratedly shivers before turning your attention back down to the locks. The first lock you see, you immediately recognize it as Seungri's handwriting. However, on the locks, instead of just your name and his name with a heart, which is what you were expecting, there was more, longer sentences fitting into the tiny bit of space on the front and back of the locks, and even expanding onto the four other locks beside it:

Once upon a time, there was a girl and a boy. When the boy first met the girl, he instantly fell in love with her. But the girl didn't like him, he was too childish and annoying kekeke... After years of chasing her, the girl finally accepted a date with this boy and she was instantly won over by his charm kekeke. They dated, and dated and soon he realized how childish the girl was too, but in different ways. She loved silly romantic movies, fairytale endings, and other things that made the boy cringe. But even still, he loved her... and after meeting her, the boy believed in those silly things too. He wanted to make those things real for her, because she made it real for him. So as much as he is hating writing this right now, he hopes this makes the girl smile with happiness. I love you, ___. Love, SR.

With a smile on your lips, you quickly brushed away the tears that were tumbling down your cheeks. Your heart was warm but heavy, full of love and absolute joy. This was even better than you had ever imagined.

Arms wrap around you from behind and you instantly relax into them, knowing too well the curve and shape of his arms and the familiarity.

"Happy anniversary..." He whispers into your ear before placing a soft kiss on your cheek, "I knew you would cry."

"Shut up..." You say with a small laugh, "When did you do this...?"

"Last night. When you went to bed so angry with me." He answers, holding you tighter and rest his chin on top of your head, "I'd been planning this even before we got here...but you were so persistent in doing it yesterday. Almost ruined my plan, you silly."

"Sorry..." You said with a pout, "I just really wanted to do it... But thank you..." You turn your head slightly, giving you both enough room for a sweet and tender kiss on the lips that sent a tingling feeling up and down your back.

When you both pulled away, he held open his hand revealing the set of keys he had earlier. "Wanna throw this in now?"

You nod, grabbing a few as you both aim for the river.

"1, 2, 3!" Seungri counted down as you both threw as hard as you could, the keys flying through the air before they hit the surface and disappeared into the small ripples of the water.

"Ready to go?" Seungri asks while extending his hand for yours. You take one last look over the river and the buildings of Paris as a satisfied but bittersweet feeling washed over you. But when you looked back at your smiling husband, thinking back to all the years you've spent with him, those feelings were replaced with pure happiness.

With a firm nod, you took a hold of his hand and walked with him back to the hotel, ready to leave the dream of Paris behind... and to continue your life with the man who made you truly happy.
