Point of No Return

Description

Once Hoya had made the decision, he knew there was no turning back.

Foreword

This is a short oneshot that explores what Hoya might of have been thinking and feeling when he made the decision to quit high school and become a singer. Sungjong makes a cameo appearance at the end, and there is a tiny bit of mild HoJong bromance. ^^

Chapter 1: It's just that, from what I see, the word "experience" appears to be roaming everywhere throughout this chapter. Could you please clarify this for me? Thank you. (The ending I thought was adorable. Perhaps Sung-Jong could learn to be a wise man one day, too, if you know what I mean.)

My mood has been so Sci-Fi lately that when I read your Sci-Fi fics, my jaw drops and I can't write anything; it's too much to remember. My fan fiction schedule has gone out of control. OTL. I'm so sorry. [Insert Meme Here.]

Chapter 1: I continue to stare in awe at your profound sense of introspection. One-shots like these are what really allow my mind to contemplate and generalize personal opinions about both myself and society.

HoiHoi, who we know to be the quiet and hardworking catalyst in INFINITE, thinks back in retrospect as to how he has managed to attain such a status amidst the Korean Music Wave. Through your captivating use of description, us readers are able to easily imagine the scenes depicted within each paragraph, specifically the dialogue. The breaks and pauses allow us to sharply sink into the tense atmosphere as we join Hoya and his challenge in enduring the wrath of his disapproving parents. Though there are clashes and repels, Hoya's understanding parents eventually agree to their son's decision, knowing full well how dedicated of a person he is.

The fact that this is, naturally, all a reminisce of the past, makes the scenes even more memorable than ever. It seems as though it isn't his first time reflecting, either; perhaps he only becomes all the more thankful each time he does. We all know Hoya: that talented figure of perfection.

I think you did a marvelous job at setting the ambience to its precise timbre: From just the beginning few paragraphs, I could already feel the usual, but pressuring atmosphere separating Hoya from his family. Seeing as though the family seems to have been struggling for quite a while now, it makes me question myself as to why he'd think of 'fessing up right at this time.

During the argument, I found your comparison of Hoya to his valedictorian brother to be very creative, and was also impressed after figuring that that exact comparison could have contributed greatly to the parents' sudden decision. The boy claims that he is different and unlike his brother, yet you (or at least I) can feel the similarities between them. However, that is just my interpretation. If it was intended to present complete difference, then so be it.

Chapter 1: I get the parents' point of view actually. Personally, I wouldn't haven't risked it. It's the thought of going against your parents-it's not about courage, more like respect. I'm really glad it worked out for Hoya but...well, I'm no one to speak, it's a personal choice.
As for the fic, you have a great way of describing life-like scenarios. Well done!
