I'm going to make this relationship work.
This Arranged Marriage with the Jerk Kris WuSaturdays are great, because they just scream “laziness”. You can laze around on a Saturday, and no one will judge you. In fact, it would’ve been the perfect Saturday, until some fool showed up at my door at an unreasonable hour.
“My beautiful princess—”
“No.”
“My angel—”
“No.”
“Babe—”
“WHAT.”
“Lie down with me.”
I raised one eyebrow. “When did I even give you permission to lie down on my bed ewww my bed has Kris germs all over it now how will I even sleep at night.” I sighed. Dammit, this guy made me all soft. I can’t even yell at him anymore.
“But your bed is so soft and warm and perfect for cuddling.”
“What are you, five?” I grumbled, trying to hide my embarrassment. Like I mentioned before, I tend to become an whenever I get embarrassed.
Ever since that day that shall not be mentioned, Kris has been IRRITATING. Here I am, trying to enjoy One Piece, while this fool keeps trying to get my attention. You know, actually, it’s kind of cute, but we’re not going to mention that to Kris, got it?
All of a sudden, from downstairs, I hear Mother yell, “HANBYUL-AH, PLEASE COME DOWN HERE BEFORE I TURN OFF THE WIFI AGAIN.”
“Dammit, Mother, I’m with Kris right now.”
“OH IN THAT CASE PLEASE CARRY ON.”
Kris chuckled. “See? Even your mom approves.”
And apparently both of my parents are making appearances in this chapter, because Father stuck his head in the door, and it looked like he was about to cry out of happiness. “Hanbyul, you’re finally interacting with people outside of your comics. I’m so proud of you.”
“Gee, thanks Dad.”
“Anyway, I was wondering if I could talk to Kris for a little while? Are the two of you…busy with something?”
I shook my head. “Nope, not at all.”
“Understood.” Kris rolled out from under the covers and passed me, joining my father in his office. Before he went, though, he made sure to say, “Don’t miss me too much while I’m gone, sweetie.”
“AHHH YOU’RE ONLY GOING TO BE GONE FOR A FEW MINUTES DAMMIT.”
Snickering, he left.
I took the opportunity to resume possession of my bed, crawling under the covers, noting that Kris made everything warm and disgusting. Feeling a cool object against my leg, I threw my blankets off, noting that Kris’s phone had slipped out of his pocket.
Not wanting to be “that nosy girlfriend” (though I was tempted to change his wallpaper), I placed his phone on my desk and fell asleep.
<:>
“Aw, they’re sleeping together.”
“Shh, you’ll wake them.”
“No I won’t. You know how heavily Hanbyul sleeps.”
“That’s true.”
DAMMIT WHY ARE PEOPLE TALKING WHILE I’M TRYING TO SLEEP.
“They’re so cute! Should we take a picture?”
“We should. And then we can send them to the Wu’s.”
WAIT WHAT THE HELL I KNOW THOSE VOICES.
I jolted awake, first noting that I was oddly warm, and second, noticing that I was basically sharing a bed with Kris.
“Hanbyul-ah, if we had known that you two had made this much progress, we would’ve scheduled the wedding for tomorrow!” Mother squealed.
I made a face. “Wedding?”
“Kris and I decided that the wedding will be happening at the end of the month. Are you okay with that, Hanbyul-ah?”
Sighing, I nodded. “Okay.”
“We’ll leave the two of you alone now. You can go back to sleep if you want.” Mother grinned, waving. Father followed her out, and the two of us were alone again. Careful not to wake up Kris, I picked up One Piece and sat in a chair next to my bed.
“Yu…”
What.
“Yuri.”
What now.
“N-no…don’t go.”
Okay, how should I be reacting here?
“I…”
Am I missing something here?
“Still…”
I scoffed. I know they had a past, but I didn’t think that he still thought of her…constantly. The thought made me a little sad, though she probably was his first love.
“—Need the photos from last week’s shoot.”
Once I registered what he said, blood rushed to my cheeks, and I cursed myself for hastily jumping to conclusions. Kris turned in his sleep, face toward me, and I slowly reached out to brush the hair out of his face. I placed my hand on his cheek (briefly), noting how cool his skin felt.
Something began to draw me to him, and I couldn’t really explain it. Suddenly, with our faces inches apart, I was faced with the choice of backing away or continuing. And, if you know anything about me, it’s that I rarely back away from challenges (unless I’m too lazy).
But before I had the chance, Kris’s eyes opened, and I could feel the judgment pouring out of them.
“Hanbyul, how could you?” he sighed, yet with twinkling eyes. “Kissing is for when we’re awake. And if you really wanted to, you could’ve just asked me.”
“Shut up.” I rolled my eyes. “Anyway, let’s go out.”
“What, like a date?” he replied, teasing.
I nodded, causing his eyes to widen in surprise. “Yeah…a date.”
