Imagine it is the year 2012. Dream High EP 11 has just been filmed and the director comes up to Jinyoung (Jr.) He is told that he is going to be singing with Ailee in English for the next episode, so he should get some extra practice in the language before they film. He has about two weeks time. He doesn’t want to burden the English teacher at JYPE by making them work more hours just for him. Jinyoung is practicing the choreography when Jackson and Mark walk inside. He goes up to them and they agree to help. The next ten days go by and Jinyoung feels like he’s learned more English than ever, he can even make some jokes on his own more freely. While he and Ailee were having lunch one day, he tries one of his jokes on her. “What happened when the eagle and the eel hung out together? They went to jail for doing eel-eagle things.” Ailee was in a giggling fit. They both had finished lunch, so Ailee suggested that they go do something else. Although he was having fun with Ailee, he was scheduled for some English lessons with Jackson and Mark. He then invited Ailee to go with him. When they got to the room, Jackson and Mark were already there. Introductions were made featuring a shy Mark and a very very flirty Jackson. Time passed quickly as these friends made Jinyoung worksheets, flashcards, and mini skits to help the poor Korean boy with his pronunciation. At around 11 pm, they ended the session. Jackson had dance lessons, and Jinyoung had some vocal training to do. They all said their goodbyes and Ailee left the building to go back to her company dorm. She hears footsteps running towards her and before she can process it, Mark is by her side. He shyly offers to walk her back since it’s dark out and he was always taught to keep his friends safe. She insists that it’s not that far away and she doesn’t want him to waste his time walking to and fro. But Mark has free time and would rather not spend it aimlessly searching for a movie to watch on netflix. As they are scrolling, Ailee asks Mark some questions to get to know him more. His answers are very short, yet Ailee continues asking because she is intrigued by the way he says “uh, no” or “uh, yes.” Mark is aware that they are approaching her company dorm soon, and his heart is dropping. He doesn’t want to end the night because her presence is just so refreshing. He suggests that they go eat since they barely had a snack when helping Jinyoung. Ailee makes Mark choose what to eat so she can find out more about him. He leads her to a small shack where they have American style hamburgers and Ailee is almost jumping out of her feet with joy when she bites into the burger. Moments later, she finds herself nearly drooling, and not because of the juicy burger. Mark himself has just taken a bite into his burger and the look of pure joy and satisfaction on his face makes Ailee want to replay this moment for the rest of her life. They finish their burgers, and are back scrolling on the dark paths of nighttime Seoul. Ailee then hears Mark clear his throat. “Wanna hear a joke?” He says somewhat shakily. She nods her head and makes direct eye contact with him which seems to take him aback. He continues, “What happened when the eagle and the eel hung out together?” Ailee sighs and says, “went to jail for doing eel-eagle things together?” Mark pouts and inwardly curses Jinyoung for taking his homemade joke and using it on Ailee. They have reached her dorm and they say goodbye to each other for the last time that night. Ailee gets ready for bed as she thinks about the day she had. She’s glad to have spent more time with her co-star on Dream High, and to have helped him improve his English, but she couldn’t help but be even more happy with meeting Mark. She didn’t know what it was that she liked about him. She usually strays away from guys who are shy and quiet, but Mark was just so adorable with his short answers and facial expressions. She couldn’t help but fall asleep happily with the image of his pouting face on her mind. On his walk back to his dorm, Mark couldn’t help but feel extremely embarrassed and mad at himself. He threw his arms in the air and then ruffled his fingers through his hair, messing it up. He blamed himself for not being born outgoing and naturally funny, and he was even more unhappy with his nervousness. He always loved watching Dream High 2 for Jinyoung, but his guilty pleasure was always Ailee. You’re so stupid, you finally get a chance to talk to her and you’re as awkward as a pencil on a whiteboard. You couldn’t even make her laugh, you’re so dumb.However, when Mark climbs into bed that night he just thinks over and over again about her smile and how he finally saw it in real life. He makes a mental note to thank Jinyoung in the morning. When Ailee and Jinyoung are filming for EP 12, Jinyoung’s English is near to flawless. The director pats him on the back and tells him to keep up the good work. He goes up to Ailee and thanks her an infinite amount of times. She humbly goes, “Thank Jackson and Mark too, they helped you even more!” Jinyoung lets out a small laugh and says, “Ever since you visited us, Mark has been trying to make his own jokes. The guy is going nuts over it.” Ailee thinks to herself that she’s the one going nuts over Mark.
