As a designer, another way to improve your graphic skills is to learn from the examples of other well-known designers in AFF. Seeing the work of other designers, especially good ones, is good motivation for you to improve. However one must also be careful when viewing others work, and be sure not to try and plagiarize other artist's styles. I'm not saying that only that artist can make posters in that particular style, but when you try and copy them exactly, then pass it off as your own work, you don't learn anything and you don't move forward. Always keep this in mind.
