Personally, I love taking any opportunity I can to give my characters medieval dresses. I love the basic design and the colors and it all just looks so regal. However, you can't just use a medieval dress anytime you want to (usually). I believe that the best time to bring these out is in stories that are either fantasy, supernatural, historical, an alternate universe, or any mixture of those. If they have supernatural powers and are about to perform an ancient ritual, why not have them in something like this? Are they vampires in an unspecified time period? Is it a fairy tale? A festival? It's always fun to draw medieval dresses as well! (Let's just leave behind medieval ways of thinking though...)
