Protector - Kwanghee

Soft clinking of glasses accompanied the room with soft chatter as the beautiful dimmed lights bounced off the crystal glasses while other guests enjoyed the gourmet food that sat on their plates.

Sitting across from you sat your husband in an elegant black well fitting button up shirt with a white satin tie for a little sophistication, his hair was in your latest favorite style and he couldn’t keep a smile off of his face.

"Why are you smiling so much?" You asked as you swirled the water in your wine glass.

"I’m with you, I can’t help but smile." He beamed brighter as you shook your head with a smile on your face too.

The surroundings of the restaurant filled the silence in your conversation as he kept on looking at you.

"We haven’t done something like this in a while." He remarked as you looked up and nodded.

"It is nice to do something different with you." You smiled as his hand reached across the table for yours.

Setting your hand in his, his fingers wrapped around your hand gently as his thumb slowly moved over your fingers causing you to smile and blush a little more.

"Kwangie, what is all of this for anyways, it isn’t our anniversary." You asked embarrassingly.

"Can’t I take my gorgeous wife out for a little dinner?" He said with a smirk as you couldn’t help but smile.

"Yes, you can." You said relived that you didn’t forget anything important. Sitting across from each other gave you some time to look into his eyes while the two of you caught up on what both of you missed while he was on tour with ZE;A.

The sky began to darken as there was a noticeably change in the atmosphere of the restaurant. Kwanghee turned his head and looked out the large floor to ceiling windows as he started to see something unusual. Watching it for a few more minutes, he couldn’t help but stand up and move to the window as his hand pressed against the glass while his eyes looked upwards at the circling clouds.

"Oh no" He whispered as the costumers started to become worried, the waiters and waitresses tried to assure their costumers that it was nothing and they should go back to their meal.

With most of the costumers convinced Kwanghee just stood at the window while the clouds began to form a funnel like cloud. The past and reality collided as he tore himself away from the window and came back to you.

"We have to go." He quietly demanded as he held out his hand and you took it, grabbing your jacket, both of you walked out of the restaurant. People outside began to run to safety as the bizarre weather was causing them to flee in fright. Kwanghee looked up at the sky frantically as his hand gripped yours tightly. He started to move faster as you jogged just to keep up with his long strides.

"Kwanghee what is going on?" You asked trying to see what he saw in the sky. When you eyes found the partially formed funnel, you gripped his hand too as both of you started to run together.

"You just have to trust me okay?" He told you as he looked up at the sky again while the winds started to pick up and whip the trees around violently.

"I trust you!" You called over the howling wind, both of you crossed the street as people began to find shelter.

Crossing the street, he found a park with some trees that acted like a canopy to try and hide you from his enemy. Your breath was labored from running for a while, he slowed his pace as you tried to catch your breath. Keeping his eyes locked on the sky, he found a rock for you to sit down and rest.

"What is this all about?" You said through your heavy breathing as Kwanghee tried to catch his breath as well.

"My past." He answered as the wind began to die down. Knowing it the calm before the storm, he knelt down and looked at you in the eyes. "Whatever happens, I love you and I won’t let him hurt you but you have to trust me."

"Kwangie…" Your eyes got wide as you had seen this in a few movies that you had watched.

"I know you are scared and confused but just trust me, okay?" He brought his hand up and cupped your cheek as his thumb gently moved on your soft skin. Nodding, you wrapped your arms tightly around his shoulders, his arms wrapped around you tightly too as his ears started to strain, trying to hear the softest noises of his enemy. Pulling away from the hug, the leaves on the trees began to move.

"Go hide behind the strongest tree you can find and stay there until I can get to you again." He said as you stood up and ran a little deeper into the park as Kwanghee moved into a clearing.

Hiding behind a tree, you held onto the bark as the tornado funnel touched down while Kwanghee lifted his hand trying to shield his eyes from the circling debris. In a quick instant the funnel touched down but it quickly went away when a man stood in front of Kwanghee. The harsh wind seemed to die down quickly as Kwanghee pulled his hand down to his side.

"Long time no see Kwanghee." The other man said as both of them started to walk around almost challenging each other.

"I could have gone longer without seeing you Taekyu." Kwanghee said as his fists began to clench together as Taekyu began to chuckle.

"I couldn’t help but come down and see you right after I got out of the higher court." Taekyu said as both of them were circling around each other.

"I heard you got married." Taekyu smiled as Kwanghee stopped in his tracks as his eyes met with his enemy’s. "I bet she is very beautiful. You must love her a lot to give up your powers just for her."

"What do you mean, give up?" Kwanghee asked curiously.

"Man, didn’t you read the contract? It says when you marry a human then in a years time, you will loose your powers." Taekyu reminded him as Kwanghee looked at him.

"I read it, but she is worth it!" He said as you smiled from behind the tree as you peaked your head out from the tree a little more.

"Then this will be an easy battle for me since you love her so much that she is your weakness." Taekyu said as he walked up to Kwanghee.

"If you hurt her you will be sorry." Kwanghee threatened while Taekyu smirked.

"Come on out sweetheart." Taekyu yelled through the park before grabbing Kwanghee by the neck and lifting him off of the ground. "I won’t hurt him if you come out."  Watching your husband hang in the air like that made your heart ache as you closed your eyes, making up your mind, you walked out into the open.

"Ah you were right she is a beauty." Taekyu remarked as Kwanghee tried to tell you to go away.

"I’m here so let him go." You said as Taekyu lifted him up and dropped him to the ground as Kwanghee’s body laid on the ground motionless. Running up to his side, you helped turn him over as his hand laid over his ribs trying to catch his breath.

"You shouldn’t have done that." Kwanghee looked up at you.

"He was going to hurt you if I didn’t." You reasoned

"Don’t worry about me, just run." He said sitting up as he held his side, wincing in pain from the fall.

"Kwangie…" You sat up next to him as Taekyu evilly laughed.

"Run, _______, run as far as you can and don’t look back." Kwanghee told you as he looked into your eyes. When you didn’t move, he stood up and walked away from you.

"Kw-" You began to say but he cut you off.

"Run! I said leave me and save yourself!" Kwanghee had tears rolling down his face as he yelled at you. Becoming scared of who he turned to be, you started to run.

"Not so fast princess." Taekyu called as he held out his hand and shot you in the leg as you tumbled to the ground.

"How dare you!" Kwanghee yelled as he turned into his ultimate secret, a Phoenix Hybrid. His wings ripped his shirt causing the fabric to fall to the ground.

Flying into the air, Taekyu got distracted from you as he looked up to see Kwanghee diving down to him and turned into a Werewolf as Kwanghee looked over at you struggling to get away. A tear rolled down his face as he collided into Taekyu. Kwanghee tumbled to the ground as Taekyu got on top of him and started pulling out his wings as he cried in pain. The battle continued as you looked over your shoulder and saw all of the feathers and blood covering the grass around as you began to cry.

"Kwanghee!" You yelled as Taekyu, a full werewolf looked up from his prey over to you. his lips he lept off of Kwanghee and ran to you, leaping up into the air, his big paws landed on you as you were trapped under his strong grip.

"You shouldn’t have done that." He snarled as you looked up into his red eyes.

"What are you going to do about it?" You shot back as his eyes narrowed. His sharp teeth were shown as they dug into your shoulder as his head thrashed about. Crying out in pain, you knew it was for the better as long as Kwanghee was alright.

Kwanghee saw the big wolf on you as he got up, with his arms tensing as he tried to push himself to you.

"Let her go Taekyu! Your fight it with me!" He yelled as Taekyu looked over at him. He jumped in the air as he tried to fly but his wings were too badly battered that he just fell to the ground.

"You can’t even defend her!" Taekyu teased evilly as your head fell to the ground and rolled to the side as your shoulder began to loose a lot of blood, with your eyes trying to stay open.

"Kwangie" You called softly as Taekyu looked down at you with a smile.

"Have a good sleep. Rest in peace." Taekyu said as he showed his teeth once more before the big animal was ripped off of you. With your dwindling eyesight, you saw Kwanghee lift him up and hit him with all of his powers as Taekyu whined like a dog that got hit by a car.

"Don’t touch us again!" Kwanghee yelled as he hit him again and again. Then everything went black.

Taekyu stopped moving as he let out a final breath before a beam of light was shown on him and pulled him up to the heavens. Kwanghee let out a sigh of relief that he was now dead, looking over his shoulder he saw you on the ground motionless. Grabbing his side, he ran with the rest of his dwindling strength to you as he sat down and placed your head in his lap.

"No, no, no, come back!" He called as he tried to shake you awake but you had lost too much blood and your shoulder was all torn. Tears rolled down his face as he held you into his arms. Getting up to his feet, he held you bridle style as your cold skin rested against his sweat covered skin.

"You’re so cold, just hang in there." He said as he started to run to the apartment with you.

Once he was home with you, he set you on the bed as he cleaned your wounds the best he could, but it seemed to be that there was no use. With his heart heavy filled with sorrow, he laid next to you as his weak arms and battered wings wrapped around you awaiting the end.

His eyes gently closed as he pulled you close.

"Don’t leave me." He whispered as more tears ran down his face.

"Why would I leave you?" You mumbled softly as his eyes shot open and he smiled down at you.

"I thought… you were dead" He wrapped you tightly in his embrace.

"I can’t die in my protector’s arms." You smiled as you took your least injured arm and wrapped it around him while digging your head into his neck as both of you couldn’t help but cry tears of joy that their true love was still alive.
