Beep… beep… beep…

The only thing that could be heard was the small, but deafening ‘beeps’ from the heart rate machine that was in her room, attached to her. How could this happen? Youngjae raked his hair in frustration, pain and regret. He grabbed a fistful of hair, and sighed yet again. How long was it going to be? How long, until she finally woke up? Gulping down his emotions, he looked up to the white hospital ceiling and thought about the events that had happened only two days ago.

“Why are you doing this again?” He’d asked, tired with the girl standing in front of him.

“Because! I can’t bring myself to ignore it every time.” She replied, tiredness also evident in her tone.

“Ignore what? The stupid feeling that you have? That stupid thought that you have? How many times have I told you it’s not true?” Youngjae spat, frustrated and angry. He grabbed his hair, but let go as quickly as he grabbed it and let out a growl.

“I can’t believe you! How am I supposed to know if you’re telling the truth or not? The more you accuse me of being stupid, the more I’m going to think that you’re trying to get yourself out of it by blaming me!” She yelled back, her voice escalating quickly.

“Why?! Why can’t you believe me? I’m your boyfriend, aren’t you meant to trust me in everything you do?! I trust you, why can’t you do the same for me? And how am I even blaming you for anything?” He rolled his eyes and let out a harsh sigh.

Youngjae thought back to the memory and thumped his fist against the wall. He gritted his teeth and shut his eyes tightly. Why couldn’t his girlfriend trust him? Wasn’t she meant to do that? Why did she always have to assume and doubt him and then pick a fight? He could never understand.

“I don’t always have to believe you, gosh! Why are you never on my side? I can’t help it if you act different as usual, I can’t help it if you look suspicious!” She had retorted, yet again, her voice shaking a little.
