You spin my world right round...

Poke, poke- POKE, POKE

“Oh my goodness can you not!” I hissed turning around and glaring at one of the idiot kingkas of the school.

“What are you going to do about it,” he smirked, “Wipe you grimy dirty poor hand on me?”

Everyone in my school thought I was poor just because I was a scholarship student. I’m actually from the richest family in Korea but I got a scholarship because I was the top of all my elementary school grades with a 5.0 GPA every year. I’m a Lee, no not just any Lee like half of Korea’s population. I am from the lee family. The one that is married to the Lau family to combine two of the largest global entertainment businesses. I didn’t feel the need to tell everyone my lineage unlike all the other “rich” kids here whose parents sent them here to make connections so they could weasel their way into a higher position.

I rolled my eyes and turned back to the whiteboard. I heard him laughing in the back with his friends.

“Ms. Lee can you solve this question please,” Mrs. Chen said from the front of the room.

“Uhh… *poke* 2x^3+4x… *poke* 3… *poke* the degree is 3 and the… *poke* leading coefficient is 2… *poke*,” I replied.

“That is correct, good job Ms. Lee,” Mrs. Chen said, “The homework tonight is to do pages 423-425 questions 1-43 on page 423, 26-50 on 424 and 15-75 on 425,”

Everyone groaned and wrote down the homework before the bell rang.

The bell rang and everyone got up and went to the cafeteria for lunch.

“Ms. Lee, Mr. Oh, and Mr. Wu please stay pack,” Mrs. Chen called.

We walked up to her desk.

“Ms. Lee I would like you to tutor Mr. Oh and Mr. Wu see as you have the highest possible GPA and the are currently failing Math, History and Science,” Mrs. Chen said.

“Are you serious?” I asked, “with all due respect Mrs. Chen can’t someone else tutor them,” I begged.

“But we would much rather have you as our tutor,” Kris smirked.

“Well then that’s settled you will be their tutor,” Mrs. Chen said.

“Fine when do I have to start,” I sighed.

“Today seeing as the semester is half over,” Mrs. Chen said.

“Fine meet today after school,” I said walking out the door.

I walked into the headmaster’s office.

“Oppa I want to go home,” I huffed plopping down on the couch.

“You still have 3 classes left,” my cousin Donghae said not looking away from his computer.

“Well my last 3 classes are gym, band and English,” I huffed.

“Even so, those classes count towards your college credits,” he said.

“Fine if you don’t dismiss me then I’ll just call mom and tell her to dismiss me,” I said pulling out my phone.

“Then I’ll tell her that you that you just want to skip class then she won’t let you go,” he said.

“If you do then I’ll tell grandma that you were the one that broke her flower pot not and you blamed the cat,” I said.

“You wouldn’t dare,” he said finally looking at me, “and besides Hyukjae already told her,” he smirked.

“Damn Eunhyuk he said I could tell her,” I pouted.

“Wow I can’t trust my cousins with anything can I,” Donghae laughed, “just go back to class Sum I’ll treat you to ice cream after school and drive you home,” he said.

“Fine but only because you are my favorite cousin,” I said standing up and walking out of his office into the main office.

“Excuse Ms. Park could you please tell us Lee Ting Sum’s address,” I heard someone say.

I turned around and saw Kris and Sehun standing there.

“Why do you need my address,” I said walking up to them.

“Well where else would we go for tutoring,” Kris smirked.

“Hmm… Oh I don’t know maybe the library you idiot,” I said.

“Fine the library but we’ll pick you up, wouldn’t want you to walk,” Sehun said his voice dripping with sarcasm.

“No thanks I’d rather walk then stay in a car with you two,” I snapped.

“You should take this offer Sum, this may be your only chance to ride in a car,” Sehun said.

“Even if it were my only time to ride in a car I wouldn’t take it if you two came with the car,” I replied.

“Oh you’re just embarrassed for us to see the shack you live in, I understand now,” Sehun snickered.

“You know what, wait you don’t know much, maybe you should pick me up here’s my address,” I said picking up a pen and scrawling my address on the back of Sehun’s hand, “pick me up at 4:30 don’t you dare be late or else you’re going to have to find yourself another tutor,” I snapped storming out of the office.

Sehun POV

I looked at the writing on the back of my hand and showed my hand to Kris.

“Wow it was easier than I thought to get her address,” I said to Kris.

“Wait till the whole school sees the pictures of her house she’s going to be ruined,” Kris said.

Sum POV

*Ugh when is English going to be over* I thought to myself and I looked out the window.

When I was younger I traveled to the states for a summer vacation and learned English there and when I got back to Korea my parents hired an English tutor for me so I could have a 3rd language because knowing Korean and Chinese wasn’t enough. I learned English along with Spanish, French, Japanese, Vietnamese and Cantonese. I learned the well because my parents believed that I should be able to speak multiple languages because it would be good for me when I take over the family business.

“Lee Ting Sum please read Act 1 Scene 2 paragraph 3 out loud,” Mr. Kim said in English.

We doubt it nothing: heartily farewell.

Exeunt VOLTIMAND and CORNELIUS

And now, Laertes, what's the news with you?
You told us of some suit; what is't, Laertes?
You cannot speak of reason to the Dane,
And loose your voice: what wouldst thou beg, Laertes,
That shall not be my offer, not thy asking?
The head is not more native to the heart,
The hand more instrumental to the mouth,
Than is the throne of Denmark to thy father.
What wouldst thou have, Laertes? I dictated from the book in perfect English.

“Thank you, you did an excellent job Sum ssi,” Mr. Kim said in English.

Thank you Mr. Kim,” I replied.

In Mr. Kim’s advanced English course we were required to speak English at all times because he thought that would help us improve our English. Most of the students in his class couldn’t speak English but they were placed in his class because they could read more advanced English than other students. The only people that could read and speak fluent English in this class were Kris, Amber, Tiffany, Krystal, Jessica and I. But that was because Kris was from Canada and the rest of them were from America. Whereas I had to learn English myself.

~RING~

“Class dismissed, please read the rest of this scene for homework,” Mr. Kim called as we walked out of class.

*Okay only band left before I can go home* I thought as I walked into the band room.

I sat at the piano by the window and took out my sheet music.

This period was pretty much a private class seeing as other kids took entrepreneurship as an elective because their parents made them. There was another boy in my class but he never came to class so I had the room all to myself.

I placed my fingers on the keyboard and closed my eyes and let my fingers play whatever tune they wanted to.

I let the music flow through me as my fingers fluttered up and down the key board.

When I was finished my finger automatically went into another song without me telling it to.

I finished the song and sat there for a second tearing up a bit, that song was the last song my grandfather on my mom’s side taught me before he had a heart failure and died. He had told me while teaching me this piece ~ “Sum ah, I know you are wondering why I am giving you an easy piece but telling you that you are playing it wrong. You have all the right keys but you are trying to perfect it, you have to let your emotions come out while you play this. Please Sum this is my favorite song and I’m afraid this may be the last song I will ever teach you,” he said.

“Grandpa what do you mean?” I asked looking up at him.

“The doctor told me I have to go in for another surgery because my heart is getting weaker and even if I do make it through the surgery I won’t be strong enough to teach you anymore, so please Sum play this for me so I can hear it one more time before I have to leave,” he said.

I played the song perfectly silently crying.

“Thank you Sum,” was all my grandpa said when he left.

Two days after his surgery I went to the hospital to visit him and I saw a bunch of doctors rushing around his room… he had passed away because he was too old and his heart gave out.

I played the song at his funeral and I never learned another song again. ~

I only played the songs my grandpa taught me and I never played for anyone to hear ever again.

I heard slow clapping behind me and I whipped around to see Suho and Lay standing there.

“That was amazing I’ve never heard you play before,” Suho said applauding me.

“Did I hear everything,” I asked.

“Yes it was beautiful Sum, I’ve heard that song but I’ve never heard it played with so much emotion before,” Lay said smiling at me.

Out of all the Kingkas in the school Suho, Lay, Luhan, D.O and Xiumin were the only decent ones. They were nice but they would always have the same arrogance the other kingkas had.

“What are you doing here?” I asked. No one ever came into the music room except for music students and teachers.

“We’re looking or Ms. Shim,” Lay said.

“She’s not here today,” I said turning back to the computer.

“Well can you tell here that we want to switch into this class when she does return tomorrow,” Suho said.

“Yes you guys can leave now,” I said.

“Um… okay bye I guess,” they said walking out of the room.

*great Sum just great for once one of the kingkas were nice to you and you just kicked them out because of a personal problem.* I thought.

Lay POV

“Well that was rude,” Suho said as we walked down the hall.

“Was it just me or did it look like she was about to cry,” I said.

“I don’t think she wanted us to here her playing,” Suho muttered and I nodded in agreement.

Sum POV

“YAH SCHOOL’S OVER!!” I squealed as I skipped into my cousin’s office.

“Yes I know thank you for telling me,” my cousin said as he ruffled my hair.

“Come on Oppa you said you would take me to go get ice cream,” I said pulling on his arm.

“Aish is this the only reason you like me because I buy you ice cream,” I teased.

I looked at him seriously and nodded, “Yup or else Hyukjae Oppa would be my favorite,” I said jokingly.

“Aish you brat,” he said pinching my nose.

“Yah is that anyway to talk to your dongseng,” I pouted.

“Whatever lets just go get ice cream,” Donghae chuckled heading out of his office with me following him.

~fast forward~

“What flavor do you want?” Donghae asked when we got to the cash register.

“Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles,” I said.

He ordered and we went outside to the benches to eat it.

“What time do you have to be home by?” he asked as we threw away out trash.

“Mm Mom doesn’t really care because I told her I was with you but I have to tutor some people a 4:30 so maybe around 4:10 so I have time to change,” I replied.

“Well we better get going if you want to get home in time, it’s already 3:55,” he said looking at his watch.

“Really oh my goodness I really lost track of time,” I said jumping up.

By the time he dropped me off at my house it was already 4:08, “Thanks Oppa I’ll treat you next time,” I said as I got out of the car.

“Yeah sure you will,” he said sarcastically.

“Drive safely,” I called as he drove away.

He waved his hand out the window to acknowledge he heard me.

I typed in the security code and scanned my thumb to unlock the gate then I did the same to unlock the front door.

“Umma, Appa I’m home,” I called.

No reply, that weird.

“Umma!! Appa!!” I shouted.

I pulled out my phone and called my mom.

“Umma where are you?” I asked when my mom answered.

“Oh I’m sorry honey me and appa got held up at the office we won’t be home for a while we have a meeting at 7, I’m not sure what time we’ll get home,” my mom said on the phone.

“That’s fine Umma just call me when you leave. I was just going to tell you that I’m going out to the library because I have to tutor some kids,” I said.

“Alright honey, call me when you come home later okay,” my mom said.

“Okay I will,” I promised.

“And you have enough money and your card right,” My mom said, “Do you have enough to get food,” she asked.

“Yes mom,” I said, “I’m going to hang up now,” I said.

“Okay stay safe,” my mom said before I hung up.

I went upstairs and changed from my uniform into a pair of skinny jeans, a cardigan with a tank top under it, I left my hair down and accessorized with a beige bag. I would match it with a pair of tan cuffed wedge boots later.

I packed the books I needed for tutoring and waited. I looked at the clock 4:17.

I had thirteen minuets left so I called the chicken place down the street.

“Hi it’s Lee Ting Sum can I have one chicken and a bottle of coke please,” I said.

“Of course it’s the same address right?” the guy on the phone said.

“Yes,” I said.

“Your chicken will be there in a few minutes,” he replied.

“Thank you,” I said hanging up the phone.

3 minutes later ~Ding dong~

I looked at the security screen by the door and buzzed the delivery boy in.

I open the door and waited for him to reach the door.

“The total is 6,000 won,” the boy said.

I handed him 15,000 won, “Keep the change,” I said.

“Thank you,” he said walking out the gate and shutting it behind him.

I went into the kitchen and opened the box of chicken.

*Wah I haven’t had chicken in a long time,” I said going for the leg first.

Kris POV

“Yah Sehun are you sure you got the right address,” I gasped staring the mansion in front of my eyes.

“That’s what she wrote on my hand,” I heard him mutter.

“Oh my god this can not be her house,” I said in shock.

“It says Lee residence on the sign,” he said pointing.

“ Sehun this is the Lee residence,” I said realizing who Lee Ting Sum was.

“Why would the live here?” Sehun said stupidly.

“Oh my god you are really dumb, her name is Lee Ting Sum and this is the Lee residence Sehun,” I said.

“Oh god that’s impossible,” Sehun said.

“We are in so much you have no idea,” I said.

“Wait ring the buzzer first and see if she actually lives here,” Sehun said.

I reached out and pressed the buzzer and waited. “Hang on I’ll be out in a second.” Sum’s voice came over the intercom.

Sehun reached out and pressed the intercom button, “Uh, can we use your bathroom?” he asked.

… Fine,” she said and the gate clicked open.

“What are you doing?” I hissed.

“I want to see the inside of her house,” he replied.

He knocked on the front door and it made a buzzing sound before it clicked open.

Sum POV

“Hurry up the bathroom’s down the hall to the left,” I said walking into the main room where they were standing, “There’s another one up the back stairs if you go down the hall to the right,” I said, “don’t use the stairs to the left that leads to the left side of the house and if you get lost I’m not finding you,” I clarified, “Got it,”

“Yeah thanks,” they both gasped walking down the hall and staring at the design.

I sat in the living room and the T.V and waited for them to get out of the bathroom.

I was watching the new drama My Love from another Star when I heard someone clear their throat from behind.

“You ready to go?” I asked turning around.

“Um yeah thanks for letting us use the bathroom,” they said.

*they just wanted to look around* I thought to myself *if they were really using the bathroom then how come they didn’t flush the toilets* I thought trying not to smirk.

“Okay then let’s go,” I said turning off the T.V. I grabbed my bag and pulled my boots on before opening the door.

“Come on out I need to lock the door,” I said waving them out.

They stood on the stairs and waited for me while I put in the security code that locked all the doors in the house.

“Okay where’s you car that I get to ride for the only time in my life,” I said.

I watched as Sehun’s face turned pink.

“Uh we parked it out side the gate,” Kris said trying to keep a steady voice.

“Alrighty then lead the way,” I said beckoning them forward.
