I'm A Creep...

But I'm A Creep...

When you were here before...

Chanyeol strummed his guitar in the courtyard during lunch, reminiscing about earlier. His confession to the girl he really liked.

Couldn't look you in the eye...

They had extra time in class. She was in the front of the room, surrounded by porcelain dolls and Barbies that were her friends. It was the girl in the center that made him avert his eyes shyly.

You're just like an angel...

She was so pretty. With flawless China skin, long flowing straight black hair. Her eyes cut in slants like carats on a diamond, framed by plush black lashes. Chanyeol got up nervously from his seat in the back on the room. He picked up his folded letter and started walking toward the pack. Chanyeol played a little louder.

You're skin makes me cry...

He had had a crush on this girl for longest. Almost four years since seventh grade. However, the type of person he was and the type of person she was, made Chanyeol to akward to approach the Beauty Queen.

You float like a feather...

Chanyeol remember her always being the center of attention. Her doll-like appearance garbed in designer clothes made her glow. How she smiled, she loved being in the center. She and Chanyeol were from different worlds, but he ceased to care any longer.

In a beautiful world...

"She would see," he had thought. How he was a nice guy. He may not be always popular, highly muscled, or even the most handsome, but Chanyeol was still a nice guy. She just need to know that. He wrote it in his letter. He approached the clique of dolls. Their pretty pout mouths gamed at the outsider, bursting into their exclusive bubble. With a polite 'excuse me' in his deep voice, Chanyeol with evanescent confidence present the letter that read "Please Open" to the girl in the center.

I wish I was special...

Chanyeol with his elf ears, tall lank stature, clothed in a hipster band shirt, thrifted world's flags jacket, blue jeans, and red Converse stood amidst the pompous popular girls. He turned two shades of pink as the lead girl held his hand-written letter in between her manicured fingers.

You're so ing special

Her almond eyes widened as Chanyeol knew she had gotten to the jest of the letter. Her pretty little pout mouth turned up in disgust. She threw the letter in Chanyeol's face.

"Why the eff would I got out with someone like you?" She said with cruelty. "You honestly think you could date someone like me? You have the limbs of twigs and ears like that ugly green thing the nerds always talk about. The jokes you make in class are so stupid like for real. You don't even have friends. But you're always smiling like that dog on the Disney Channel, what's its name? Doesn't even matter, its creepy. Haha," she laughed that fluttering laugh, cracking her face. Chanyeol no longer found it pretty.

"Haha that's what he is. A creep," jeered a Barbie.

"Aw, how cute, really thought he had a chance, " sneered another one.

"Like for real a note, how lame could you be?" said a porcelain doll.

Chanyeol looked down, trying to keep his tears from showing. He put a smile on his face just like his mom taught him to do during hard times.

"Yah! What are you smiling for weirdo!?"another snapped, trying to push his head up.

"He's smiling while crying? Trying to be brave?" they bullied him.

"What a creep! Go away," the girl of his dreams pushed him away. Chanyeol stumbled back. The girls laughed at him mercilessly. He turned away grabbed, his guitar, and ran from the room. As he exited, wiping tears from his face, echoing  through his mind was the girl's final jurisdiction; "What a creep!"

But I'm a Creep!

Chanyeol sang the last part of the song softly while the inside of him screamed. He was sitting in a corner of the courtyard at lunch by himself. It was his normal routine to sit at lunch alone, playing his guitar, watching others live their lives, just usually minus the tears. He was stupid to believe, he thought, that she would accept him. Her world just wasn't attainable. When he stumbled back, it wasn't because the weight of her push was strong(her hands were like twigs), it was the impact of rejection, hitting him like a brick wall. Would he always be in the outside looking in? He strummed the rest of the song softly on his acoustic guitar. He looked out at the groups of teenagers in front of him. Laughing, talking, linked together in their coteries. In a crowd that made them feel like they belonged. Every day he would sit in his corner and watch with fascination. He yearned for that sense of belonging.

Chanyeol was doing his usual thing of observing the lunch life of his classmates while playing his guitar when he spotted something different. Walking across one of the paths in the large school courtyard was a girl, scribbling along in what looked like a spiral bound journal. She had medium brown skin, dark brown shoulder-length hair, and a slim figure. Of course Chanyeol had seen many black students at the school before because the school was very diverse, several groups of African-Americans were spread across the courtyard. However, though her skin tone may have been the same as many of theirs, it was obvious this girl was different. Her small heart-shaped face was buried in her little book, so concentrated in its content she didn't even notice her foot catch on to her own shoe lace. She did notice herself when she was sprawled flat on the dark grey pavement, hands still clutching the book, glasses, purse, pencils spread around her. Laughter of her peers reached Chanyeol's ears.

"Haha, look at the Klutz!"

"Damn, that girl always trippin'!"

"Need to get her weird out those books."

The girl slowly raised her head from concrete. Chanyeol watch as she seamlessly ignored the rude comments of her classmates. She looked at the notebook in her hands. A smile appeared on her face. That small smile prompted Chanyeol as he subconsciously placed his guitar down and walked over the where the girl had fallen just a few feet away from him. He offered his hand.

"Are you okay?" She was visibly surprised by his deep voice. She looked up slowly with a squint face and found Chanyeol looking down at her. Shocked she just gawked at him.

"Here let me help you up," He stuck his hand out again. She tucked a piece of straight, dark brown hair behind her ear. She took his hand. Chanyeol noticed her hand was soft on the top, but her palmed housed some calluses of a working girl.

"Thank you," she said shyly, getting to her feet.

"No problem," Chanyeol said, going to retrieve the girl's fallen objects, such as her pencils, purse, and glasses. Unfornutely, when he found the glasses they were bent around the bridge.

"Oh , Madison, your shoe laces can't stay tied for anything!" he heard her say. HE turned to see the girl bent down, tying up her black combat boots, bunny eared-style. Singly, the most adorable thing he had even seen. Trying not to stare he walked over to her and handed her back her things.

"Thank you...," she responded, retrieving her things from him. She smiled up graciously at him, and Chanyeol got a good look at her face. Her cheeks were high and sharp, giving clear definition her heart-shaped face. Her skin was not perfect, marked with the battle scars of acne's past, and her eyebrows didn't match. However, big feline-like eyes sparkled alongside her pretty full-lipped smile that glowed against her warm brown skin.

"You're welcome," he said to her. Gingerly, he handed her back the spectacles. "Sorry, they kinda bent when they landed..."

"Oh, it's alright," the girl remarked. "They're just my hipster glasses. I've got a ton at home." She waved it off casually, depositing the lens into her satchel. Chanyeol looked down and noticed the girl had blood on her knee, from a cut she must have gotten when she fell.

"Hey, you're bleeding," he reported. "I have a band-aid in my case, I'll patch you up."

"Haha, that would explain my leg hurting. Thank you... um... Sorry, you've been helping me this whole time and I don't even know your name," She stated, following him to where he was sitting.

"Chanyeol. Park Chanyeol. And you?" he asked, retrieving the band-aid.

"Madison. Madison Rodgers," she answered as Chanyeol sat her down at the table next to him.

"Madison... I like your name." He placed the bandage softly onto her cut knee.

"Thanks. I like yours too," she replied, smoothing the bandage.

"Haha thanks. I got it for my birthday," Chanyeol joked. Out loud, Madison laughed too. A bubbly laugh, bursting with joy.

"HAHA! That was a good one! OMG, I'm stealing that!" She said. Chanyeol couldn't help but smile like an idiot. A girl that liked his jokes! What was happening right now?

"Thanks," he said genuinely. "I try." Chanyeol settled his guitar back in his lap. Madison looked in awe.

"So it was you playing earlier! Ahh... so cool! I love RadioHead!" she exclaimed. Now it was Chanyeol's turn to be shocked. Typically, not trying to be racist, girls of her type didn't listen to alternative rock.

"Of course!" She said proudly.  "I was listening to it earlier and thought your playing was so good! However, I think you add a lyric."

"Hmm... What would that be?" Chanyeol asked, playing softly.

"I'm not sure if  'you're so ing special' is in the song. More or less the word ''," Madison said, blushing at the word ''. Chanyeol laughed lightly.

"Haha, you must only have listened to the clean version. 'ing' is in the original song."

"Ahh, and here I thought it was just a bout of passion," Madison chuckled.

"Well, that played a part too," Chanyeol laughed too. Madison smiled brightly at him.

"So, Chanyeol, what all are you passionate about?"

And that's how the rest of lunch went for the two. Chanyeol chatting enthusitically with the exuberant Madison. They learned the little things about each other. Chanyeol learned that Madison had just moved from a city in the South and had been new to the school since September. She liked virtually any kind of music with good morals. She was clumsy by nature, and since she had moved here people had not been so kind to her because of the way she spoke. Madison learned Chanyeol had been here his whole life, though his parent were from South Korea. She also learned Chanyeol didn't have many friends because they had moved to different high schools and people thought his jokes were lame and he was too immature of a guy. Madison didn't quite understand the last two parts because she found Chanyeol hilarious. He cracked her up every time.

"Immature?" She give him a quizzical look. "Any guy who goes out of his way to help some stranger girl when everyone else is laughing her down is far more mature than this ingrates."

For the first time in a while, Chanyeol and Madison experienced time flying when you have fun. The lunch period ended and they both gathered their things for class. Madison turned to Chanyeol.

"Chanyeol... do you mind if I come back tomorrow and sit with you? I mean... I haven't made any friends at this school except for the English teachers and..." she asked, making circles with her boots in the dirt.

"What? But I'm a Creep," Chanyeol responded.

"No! You're the coolest guy I know!" Madison said whole-heartily. Chanyeol was touched. "Besides... I mean... I haven't made any friends at this school except for the English teachers and..."

"Please come back. And while you're at it, come back every day following," he said with a big glistening grin. Madison smiled too, jumping up and down.

"Thank you!" She hugged him. Chanyeol hugged her back. She was soft and warm in his arms, but not delicate. Not at all.

"No problem..."

"See you tomorrow, Chanyeol!" Madison waved racing off to class. Chanyeol waved back and grabbed his guitar. The biggest stupid smile appeared on his face. Finally something to look forward too tomorrow.
