Foreword
Prologue
It's scary how I got used to dreams as vivid as this. I could perfectly feel the cold breeze coming from the river side. The sand under my feet. To my right there was the yellow-ish water, to my left the compact green of a forgotten woods. She was sitting on the old red and blue wooden boat looking at the water. This is so painfully familiar.
I walked closer feeling my heart heavy. "Hey." My voice sounded weak and I hated it.
"Hey." Her voice was of the usual indifference, don't know if I hated it even more. "It has been a long time. I thought you had forgotten how to walk your way here." she teased as usual and that made me sigh. I miss one day and she goes with the endless tease.
"You're really not coming back? You're really giving up?" I sat beside her in the boat. "They will… you know… turn off the machines tomorrow… please… wake up." It was the last time I was going to ask her that.
"You were the one calling me an assassin, yet you're still trying to save my life. Let them kill me, I'm already dead for them, so what's the use? It's really better if I'm not around." Her words made me feel guilty yet that's the truth. She killed so many innocents, nevertheless even an assassin should find love.
"No-one will ever find out. You said so yourself." Why am I still trying to save her?
"Nothing you say will change my mind. It took them a long time to get to decide on my death. Probably because you're the only one begging them not to turn off the machines. Stop that, Sungmin. I can't have a normal life anymore." Why her words are always so final?
I caressed her cheek and she finally looked at me.
"I don't want them to kill you." I leaned closer pressing my lips on hers.
"I'm already dead for them." She gave me one last smile before expelling me from the dream.
Why did she never listen to me?
